Flavor was solid all around; the ceviche and brisket bowl were spot on! Now the service was interesting, grace was given because it was a busy day, I mean everyone's coming out for Cinco de Mayo. However it seemed to stemmed more from being understaffed/unprepared for the day versus just poor service. Some patrons mentioned it's the norm but I want to come back when on a regular day. We booked this rooftop in hopes for a special 40th bday celebration experience. Unfortunately no communication was provided in advance that our party of 6 would not be would not be accommodated with no resolution. When our party arrived at our time we were told no space was available and there was no timeframe for our party. We talked with manager whose tone was very rude(unprofessional) and he provided no support or resolution. We were told if we waited that potentially they can fit us in however we had to leave our number and no response, communication, or resolution was given. They offer three tacos: beef, chicken, and cauliflower. The cauliflower taco was hands-down my favorite (thank you to our server for the recommendation!), followed by the beef. My friend and I decided to try out Treehouse since we were in the area. I'll start with the positives, my food was actually pretty good. The carne asada tacos hit, and the guacamole was yum although the chips were high seasoned. Our waiter was very patient when taking our orders and attentive. He gets 5 stars! Overall though, I wasn't super impressed. The décor is clearly going for a Tulum vibe, but it felt more basic than expected, maybe TikTok overhyped it a bit. The music selection on our side was lacking, although there are two different sections playing different music, so you can drift between the two depending on the vibe you're looking for. Excellent spot for happy hour, especially on a day with lovely weather. My friend said happy hour is ALL day on Monday! They accommodated our large group of ~14 people easily on the patio without a reservation. Plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Came for an industry happy hour which led to evening dinner and a quick nightcap. Watching the sunset over noma was breathtaking. The space is on the roof of the ground floor hotel space, with the entrance and elevator access being of the side parking and not exclusively New York Ave. The tacos and guacamole were so fresh and tasty and the drinks were just as refreshing. I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at the Treehouse Rooftop. We were staying at Hotel Nell and received a drink voucher so we decided to check it out. Everything was on point. We sat at the bar had margarita and some of the best tacos ever. I'm not exaggerating. These tacos were a 10/10. They come in orders of 3 and are your typical street style taco, 2-3 bites. The Mahi were my favorites followed by the chicken. They ran out of the carne asada ones. I bet those were yummy too. My least favorite were the Birria, but they were still tasty. I only wish they had a homemade hot sauce. Street tacos usually come with a salsa verde type sauce and something spicy. We had to settle for Tabasco and Cholula. This is a fairly nice rooftop spot located in Northeast DC. The aesthetics are excellent, it's got a greenery/ jungle scene type of energy and the skyline views and outdoor seating are excellent. I was visiting on a Thursday evening during happy hour, it was packed but they've got a decent amount of seating between the bar, inside tables, and the patio seating. The happy hour menu featured 3 taco options chinichurri beef, chili-roasted cauliflower, and grilled chicken ($3.50 each) and cocktails like palomas, passionfruit margaritas, and classic margaritas ($9 each). I ordered a passionfruit margarita and a couple of grilled chicken tacos. Service was excellent the bartenders were attentive and made some really well balanced cocktails. The tacos came out quickly and were better than I anticipated: great presentation, fresh toppings, and the chicken was flavorful and tender. All in all great experience and definitely would recommend as one of the more enjoyable rooftop atmosphere's in the city. read more

Came for an event and the space itself was very cute. You really can't beat a rooftop in the city at any time of year but during the summer it's beautiful. I had: Chicken tacos & Guacamole with chips - CT were a 7/10, I'm not much of a raw red onion fan but they were diced so small I could stomach them. With a hefty squeeze of lime I took down the 3 tacos with ease and if my appetite called for it I could've put down 3 more. Got my customary lemon drop with tequila and was a happy camper. I also tried the corn ribs and OMG please snoot that into my veins. It was creamy, cheesy, with the perfect hint of lime. I would def add this to my order when I come back. The bar area is bland so your best bet is to sit outside. The bar service wasn't impressive. We had to wait at least 15 minutes to order drinks and another 10 minutes to get them at a place that wasn't even busy. As for the food, The Birria Tacos were good and the Chips with Guac were basic. Let me tell you something, they don't have to worry about me. Now, I visited this place once. I felt like it was cute and the happy hour situation wasn't bad. My first plate of tacos had hair in it, nasty, but it was all good after I received the new plate. I went with a group of about 20-30 people for happy hour and they're probably not used to that type of business on a Wednesday because there was only 1 bartender and the service was pretty slow. Notwithstanding, I thought it was a cute, ducked off spot to maybe invite people to in the future. I should've known I'd have some trouble when I saw the IG page was private. My next experience, I was just very turned off by the management's operation. I reached out to the hotel, via contact box on the website, expressing interest in inviting a group people there for happy hour for my birthday. I incorporated my concern regarding having 1 bartender on a weekday, the speed of service, and inquired if there was anything I would need to do in order to create a proper environment for a large amount of people. I was then contacted by the food & beverage director, Joseph, asking how many people I intended on having because he "already had something on the books" and asked me to let him know as soon as possible. Keep in mind that this is 8 days ahead of the date. I responded promptly asking if the bar area would still be open. I didn't need to reserve space, I was inviting people to the place freely. So, I responded asking if he was implying that the location would be closed to the public given the reservation he mentioned. I followed up, the next day, after my initial response to ask again if the location would be open, provided the least amount of individuals confirmed, and advised that I was just trying to coordinate accordingly. I still hadn't received a reply nor managed to reach him via phone for days. Eventually, I found contact info for the GM and emailed him my same concerns in an attempt to gain answers because I needed to know if I should divert elsewhere but the ghosting should have been my sign. Joseph then responds a week later saying "just saw your reply", asked if my group was still coming the next day, and then again asked to contact him ask soon as possible. I guess at this point, you already know he didn't reply nor answer the phone calls. So, I show up the next day anticipating having a birthday event only for the staff downstairs to say the rooftop is CLOSED. One gentleman advised that the rooftop was flooded and offered for us to see if we wanted. My mom asked for them to show us the flooding then to assess and the gentleman says "oh I was just playing, I can't show it to you". All of this made me feel like this establishment PLAYED intentionally. I should have had my municipal contacts investigate this place but I said they'll get their own karma. I was so thankful for their neighbor F1 and their hospitality because I had roughly 60-80 people show up for my birthday and they made it such an amazing experience to be last minute. In all, I'm not messing with Hotel Nell, Treehouse, or any subsidiaries. I'm not even referring the location for aesthetic. Joseph, nor anyone else even contacted me to inform me that the place would be closed or anything. Just terrible communications and operations. read more

Where do I start, I love this cute rooftop above the hotel. The ambiance is really nice with indoor & outdoor seating perfect for a date night. Parking was free for 3 hrs in the garage next door which is great for DC! You are able to enjoy yourself without having to pay a pretty penny for parking. All the food was amazing. The Chimichurri brisket tacos were soooo flavorful. I could have ate 6 of them. I love me some Elote so those corn ribs were just perfect! The drinks were balanced and good. For dessert, I had to get the pastelitos. I love anything with guava. Everything was bomb, and our server was good. I cannot wait to go back. Had such a fun girls night at treehouse rooftop! Located at the top of Hotell Nell in the Union Market area. For dinner I had the birria tacos which were delicious. I tried the Jungle Bird drink but wasn't a fan of the Campari and the bartender was amazing and let me switch it with the how the leopard for their spots drink which was fantastic. The bartender then made me a little creation: a strawberry margarita with mezcal and a tajin rim. This is now my FAVORITE DRINK EVER! Will absolutely be back. read more

A friend and I went here for Juneteenth as it was advertised on their instagram that they were selling a speciality cocktail where the proceeds were all going to the NAACP. Once we asked about it, one server didn't know about it and then the other said it would only be available for one hour later that night. None of that information was shared on instagram. Located inside the Union Market Hotel just north of the actual Union Market, park in the lot near the market and walk up to avoid paying parking garage fees closer. Walk inside the hotel lobby and find the elevator that takes you to the rooftop. Once off, a hostess will direct you to a table or the bar with city views. Inside a well designed space, only drinks were available when my buddy and I went. Cocktails range from $16-$20. They also have wine and beer. If you like margaritas, get the Porque Elote with oaxacan cheese washed espoion blanco, sotol ono, fermented corn syrup, chinola passion fruit liqueur, and lime. It was excellent! read more

They had warmers, the view was beautiful and the crowd is like young professional social club vibes. Service was good. the bar is new and there were a lot of patrons so sometimes it took long for servers to return but they were friendly and polite. Food was also great. It is located on the 5th floor of the Union Market Hotel right on New York Ave. The parking garage was a little tricky to find, but when you do, you can park in the garage for free for your first 3 hours. Right when you walk in, Treehouse reminds me of Tulum with the dim lighting and surrounding plants. It's such a vibe! I loved the ambience as well as the music selection which was mostly R&B and Afrobeats. For drinks, I had the How the Leopard Got Its Spot which was a Mezcal based drink. The service was good, waitress was attentive and checked in frequently, The paloma and classic margarita were good and decently priced for happy hour. My friend and I recently stayed at the hotel and had some free drink vouchers at Treehouse (on the top floor of the hotel). The free drink vouchers were for margaritas, but my friend is allergic to citrus, we asked if she could have something else. She ended up with a vodka soda with a lime wedge on the rim (not malicious, it's just so loud in there, the bartenders couldn't hear us, I don't think). The margarita was pre-mixed (fine) but had the taste of a purchased mix. Not a margarita I'd order again. The service wasn't bad, but they were busy and you could tell. Maybe it was also because we had drink vouchers, so they may have thought we were just going to have one drink and leave (we did), but service was definitely cursory. The best thing about the bar is definitely the rooftop views. Otherwise I'd say it's a pretty standard bar. Not a place I necessarily plan on returning to but good enough for a drink or two if you're staying in the hotel for sure. read more
