Pretty cool escape room. Came here for a work team event and we had a lot of fun. My few points to note: 1. Super easy to book online 2. Lots of challenging (but not too challenging) puzzles- all loads of fun 3. I felt that some of the super "techy" parts of it weren't really necessary and just there for show 4. Really nice that they can take larger groups which is a serious fault of other escape rooms. My only extra thoughts are that it doesn't need a minimum of 10 to complete. I'd say you can easily complete it with 6 people. read more

Awesome escape room fun. Obviously I won't go into the specifics of the game itself, so no spoilers! The game itself was solid. Good logic throughout, all solvable, no busywork. Clearly designed by people who love games. You don't need to be any particular expert at anything, but good problem solving skills don't hurt. Great experience by the hosts. From the moment it started we were well immersed in the overall game. By the end we had practically forgotten we were in some random building in SF! Also, apparently the game is still growing and evolving- which is pretty amazing. Highly recommend for a group of friends or coworkers. We came as a group of 8, was awesome. Lastly it ends with a really great self-evaluation process. Very thoughtful and clever. I'm hoping they evolve it so much I can come back again and start from scratch! read more

I'm no stranger to escape rooms, so it takes a little to actually surprise me when it comes to these kind of things. Reason definitely surprised me. Like it basically knocked my socks off with how cool it was. I've honestly got a new standard for escape rooms now because of these guys. Far and away the best I've done. Without going too deep into the details of what the escape room was like, it was just the most unique mix of puzzles and clues and props I've ever been a part of. Like, there's an upstairs. And a 3D Printer. And lasers. Like what. Haven't seen any of that in any of the other rooms that I've done. It's so cool and immersive that you can easily lose yourself in the moment and forget that you're doing an escape room. You really do need a pretty big group to do this room though. There's so many puzzles that I couldn't imagine tackling this room with only a few friends. My group barely finished and we were about 15 and we're all mostly veterans of escape rooms. This was definitely the most difficult one I've been a part of. Our host was very nice and friendly as well! It's a really cool escape room. My team and I recently held an off-site at Reason as a team-building activity outside the office-- it was RAD! As a new addition to the sales squad it was great to do something together that really required us to think on our feet and play with some of the latest technologies. Make sure you're team is ready to work with the latest tech to figure out your way out of the room! The experience made me realize how well we work as a team even though we're still young. I booked Reason (Crash Site Escape) for our company outing of 11 people. Yes, it's a little bit more on the pricey side, but I think it's extremely worth it! I have personally only attended one other escape room in Japantown SF, but I think this was way better. There's a lot of cool technology that you interact with including VR, AR, and a couple of mini games. There's even a 3D printer! A coworker has been to many escape rooms and he said this one was his favorite. They give you about 2 hours total. The first 20-30 are for an introduction to the game and then 1.5 hours to solve the room. We finished with about 20 minutes to spare! There's two rooms involved which is fine and both fit plenty of people, so it's not squished. It's located in their own small building, so you can safely leave backpacks, jackets, etc. in the front. No cell phones allowed inside the room itself. :) Megan (I hope that's the correct spelling!) was a great game master and gave us some hints when we were close, but never anything to make it too obvious. Some of the puzzles are a little less intuitive, so the hints were really appreciated! I also do appreciate that she pointed out that certain things in the room don't have hints, so you don't waste your time trying to look through the trash, an alleyway, or (since there's a bathroom in the room) looking around the toilet! When attending, make sure your team really communicates! A lot of the puzzles require teamwork to find out something, so working with each other is key. We did a team building In October 2019 for 22 people in the "Crash Site" room and won with 8 seconds to spare! I work with Mike at REASON to set-up our event and Lily was our amazing meeting facilitator on the day of the event. I was concerned because we have a large group and some are natural leaders, but many are more introverted. Boy was I mistaken! Many of the introverts were leading the groups; some were really in their element. Our team is a global team from Canada, Europe, and the US. It was the first time we were all together in person. This was a great level setting event that taught us to work together as a team and build community. I would definitely recommend REASON to anyone looking for an awesome, challenging teambuilding event! read more

Unlike any escape room we have done (and we have done a lot of escape rooms), this room had so much tech in it, our group had a great time. The tech is exciting, interesting, novel, and accessible to non-techies and techies alike. Our group was a mix of engineers and laypeople, and we all had a great time. So very SF! I have been wanting to do this escape room for over a year now, and finally got the perfect group together to do it. We were all wowed by the puzzles and by the wonderful game host, Mike (also co-founder of the escape room). He did a great job leading our group and giving the perfect hint for the one time we got stuck. He even invited us to play VR video games in the reception room of the escape room after we finished the escape. This was the first time trying VR for most of us, and what an awe-inspiring experience. We even got a great boomerang photo of our group to remember the experience by. Great game, and we will be back to try the Crash Site room. Tip: Very easy street parking, we got a spot right outside the escape room. You can't miss the teal-colored building. During COVID team bonding can be very difficult and virtual events tend to be boring. Virtual escape rooms is our new team favorite and we got introduced to it through Reason, specifically their Mars game that accommodates a very large group. Many boxes have to be checked for this to go right--from Zoom invites to break out rooms to completing non-cheesy intellectual yet on theme puzzles. Reason's Mars checked all of these boxes. The instruction is very clear; The game masters are very responsive to all of our questions during the game; All the clues can be found inside room(no need of outside knowledge). They were super quick to answer all my questions, and were flexible with the attendance count (we ended up having 13 people for Lola in Space). The Reactor escape room at REASON in SF was an awesome experience!! It was the second escape room I have done and it was every bit as exciting as the first time I stepped foot in an escape room. Unlike the previous escape room I had taken part in The Reactor just throws you into the action. They only information given is that you have 80 minutes to prevent the reactor from melting down. The Reactor had many special elements that I was very surprised to see in an escape room. Talking with the designers after we finished the escape room, they expressed their desire to take very new technologies you read about on tech blogs and make it a part of the escape room experience. They definitely succeed, as I found myself interacting with technologies that I was excited about, but never had the chance to try for myself. The designers nailed the ambiance of the room and I found that at difference points during the progression of the room I could see the changes in lighting and music that ratchet up the tension as we got closer to our goal of escape. Overall the experience was amazing and I wouldn't hesitate to make an activity out of it with friends or a team building experience with work. Reason has designed an escape room that in seconds breaks down barriers and gets you excited to work together towards a common goal, all the while experiencing puzzles and technologies that you haven't before. read more

Reason's Escape Room is head and shoulders above others that I have tried. Their story-lines are immersive, and they perfectly balance the line between spelling things out to you and being too mysterious. What really stands out about the experience, however, is their puzzles - the high-tech equipment they utilize makes the whole thing a much more compelling game than the standard games which lean mostly on basic riddle-solving and so on. This is not to say that the puzzles aren't challenging and well thought-out, but the use of drones and 3D printers and fun machines really adds a layer to it that makes for a memorable game. Finally, the Reason team are superbly professional, and know just how and when to drop a hint enough to keep you engaged without making it too easy. 10/10 would play again - highly recommended. read more

My friends and I had such a great time with the Moonshot 2: Gateway virtual escape room. We had 11 people, split into 2 teams. The event was well facilitated, and the puzzles were engaging, challenging, and still accessible. Everyone had a chance to bring their strengths to the table when solving puzzles, which speaks to the nice variety of knowledge/skills required. We especially loved the balance of old (human brains, morse code, good old olfactory skills) and new tech (VR, drone, command line). I've played over 80 escape games around the world, and really enjoyed this one! It is a bit challenging so I recommend a group of at least 8-10 people. We had a group of 10 people (some new to escape games) and we escaped just in the knick of time! It was an awesome and unique experience with the technology that they use. I won't reveal anything here but just try it for yourself! Mike, the head guy there, has an upbeat and friendly demeanor which made the experience even more enjoyable. This escape room was great! I participated in it as team activity with my workmates (game nerds and tech folk), and we had a blast. The room itself was well-crafted, with a variety of puzzle types leveraging both 'analog' and new tech. It was more engaging and challenging than any of the previous rooms I've been to. There were some puzzles I didn't even get a chance to get to because the ones I worked on were so immersive. The team assessment at the end of the room was a nice addition to the experience. Throughout the organization and on-site process, the staff were very enthusiastic and helpful to us. Our moderator was friendly, clear with the instructions, supported us when needed, and was respectful about not being overly-aggressive with hints (which I've experienced elsewhere and it takes away a bit of the fun). Great puzzles that are unique! They put in a lot of time to creating this escape room. It's best that you have 10-15 people since there are puzzles can be done in parallel to a large extent!
