So we gave it a shot. The Good: It was nice and clean, hardwood floors, open front so there was a lot of fresh air. The waitresses were very friendly and helpful and the menu!!! There used to be a place in Toronto called The Yellow Griffin with a similar concept of multiple burgers with interesting toppings, sadly their quality dropped under new management and the eventually went under, i had been looking for a similar type place with great quality and here it was! The food arrived pretty quickly and boy was it good! I had the Malibu Melt ( I think it was called) a burger with three cheeses and an onion ring to hold it all together with a side of Onion rings. Delicious and satisfying, I would go back there in a heartbeat! The Bad: i have to go all the way to Guelph for this one, but there are two locations in Toronto. The Ugly: I really have nothing. Good Job guys!

The next time I tried the blue cheese one... It was also very good... But I think I liked the first one. It's the one on the third level... Kind of wild toppings. I just remember it had maple flavor... And I want to see fried cheese curds on it or something. Sorry I should've written it down. Anyway you'll enjoy this place. Feels kind of like a college hang out. On both nights, the server was very attentive. Check them out they're worth it.

The Works - Slow for dinner during the week... I'm assuming they have a stronger lunchtime. This was a nice place.

We got two poutines - one regular and one with mushrooms and peas. Both did not have as many cheese curds and this was more prominent on the regular poutine, thus that was just ok. the one with the grilled mushrooms also had little cheese curds but the flavor of the mushrooms paired with the gravy and the limited curds was an excellent combination. both portion size was good and the mushroom had great flavor, just don't expect many cheese curds!

I'm a neighbor & when it happened the first time during the summer of '24, I respectfully visited them the next day and asked the owner/manager to simply give me some notice so that I could either join in the fun or leave town for the night. After all, who am I to stop a good party. Fast forward. It's now the evening of January 24th and again for the third time, Deep/whomever has not provided me the common curtesy of a heads up phone call in advance. I try and support this franchisee by purchasing one of their poutines every 2 weeks, which imo, is of very poor value. Value is the quality of an item based on the cost. In this case, over priced, pre-packaged, garbage! It's unfortunate that this location does not understand what it means to be a good community neighbor. My questions to you Mr Smolkin, as the franchisor, what is your vetting process? Is there a vetting process or do you just accept anyone with stupid money to hand over ($300k - $500k) to your corperation? And, do you have guidelines as to what a franchisee can do under YOUR banner? Oh wait, here comes the City of Guelph Police, again!

I tried the Hogtown Poutine, because honestly...in terms of the original you can never beat La Banquise. It was definitely what I expected, fresh cut fries with awesome toppings such as meatballs, bacon, carmelized onions...oh, did I mention smoked bacon? Delicious! My only problem with this place is the gravy is sunk to the bottom. I'm used to the gravy on the top similar to other poutine places I've tried. Limited seating room, so take out is recommended. Cash and debit only!

I had the Traditional, Chili Cheese Chicken, and the Double Pork. The meat was well cooked and tasted fresh. The fries were crispy (even with the gravy on them) and a had a lot of flavor with all the toppings. The cheese curds were done right good texture, weren't too hard or too soft. The prices were decent about $8-10 for a regular size dish and $13-$15 for a large size, WOW as they call it. The wait time wasn't bad for a Wednesday evening, the food was ready within a few minutes. The staff was friendly. Excellent overall experience, would recommend.

I remember a lot of southern comfort foods and vegan/vegetarian items for my niece's friend, Joi. Which she wasn't. Jk. We had a bit of a wait due to time of day and it being a smaller restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and I recall our server being quite attentive. My niece had a brisket hoagie. A great sandwich once you get past the pickled onion. We really enjoyed their fried chicken/mac n cheese concoction and an outstanding loaded poutine. All in all the food was very good, proportionate and reasonably priced (esp after the exchange rate). The atmosphere was acceptable and the people were extremely likable.
