Tried this restaurant after reading a menu that had some interesting items. I would really like to provide a positive review because the front staff were friendly and trying very hard to please. Unfortunately the food was overall not very good. The calamari was actually only a small part of the dish which included more fried onions than calamari and some fried citrus slices. All were over cooked to a brittle crisp. The chicken and waffle sandwich was also dry and over cooked. I ordered a waygu burger medium well and had to send it back twice because it was raw after the first bite in. It was good meat and was sent back to our table each time with a new burger rather than recooking what I had already taken a bite out of but it was void of any seasoning. The Mac & cheese wasn't bad but was sort of a letdown short of what I would call comfort food. The fries were good. Because of all the difficulty with the burger the waitress offered us a dessert on the house which we declined and just wanted to leave. All and all the chef is the weak link at this newly opened restaurant unfortunately, because the rest of the staff were trying very hard to please the clientele. read more

Came in on Saturday 6/22/19 with high expectations, since they are always posting pictures of their food on Instagram. Unfortunately the food looks pretty but tasted okay. We were a group of 4, all ordered different entrees off the menu to be disappointed with the flavor of the food. Also be weary of the how clean this place is, ripped seats, sticky table tops and the bathroom if you use it is disgusting, the floors have clearly not been cleaned for a while so who knows when the toilets have been. read more

Looking for a new place to try. My wife and I walked in and no one acknowledged us. So we just sat at an empty table not knowing what to do. We watched as the only server served the only table with people finishing up eating. We waited 15 minutes and still no one came up to us. So we walked out and won't be returning. Rebel is my new favorite place to go to downtown Livermore. It's the best on a Friday or Saturday night if you want to go out dance and have fun there is a dance floor and dj set up every weekend! I'm so sorry, but this place smells horribly! So much air freshener or Lysol covering up .... what?? Sewage??? Not sure, but it stinks. The new tables wobble... when my wine tipped, they handed us a towel to clean it up ourselves! The menu looks like they cut and pasted ;literally) the new name over Sanctuary... but why change? All the cute, comfy furniture is fine and what's left us a ridiculously loud (staff talking, bad music) ugly room with wobbly tables. Zero appeal! This is unfortunately a terrible spot in downtown livermore. They messed up a basic coke order, making it too watery. The fries came out insanely late, and they forgot to add salt to the fries. It was also over fried, making it super dry, so I didn't even touch it. The DJ was way too loud, and the place is a bit gross and run down. Definitely a pass. read more

I have moved away from Livermore a few years ago but I happened to be in town so I decided to check this place out. Food - it is as good as when Rebel used to be Sanctuary. Or maybe it is better. I had Hangover Burger and I loved it!!! It was excellent and I highly recommend it to others. Service - The bartender was very attentive and provided very good service. Waited an entire day before making this post I was hoping to try their pork belly sandwich and my wife tried their loco moco. Was very disappointed to say they were understaffed and unorganized not to mention that when the big girl in the back was cooking we watched her scratch her face her neck and then proceed with touching the rest of people's food. We have been to Rebel multiple times, and simply LOVE it! Additionally, I just had my husbands surprise 50th here! Gianni and staff went out of their way to help me prepare, coordinate details, pick location, and iron out all the little details that would otherwise take forever! Everyone had a wonderful time. Came here (from San Jose) for Valentine's Day. The menu looked simple but pretty tasty so I made reservations on Open Table. I ordered the French Cut Pork Chop ... I can honestly say it was the best pork chop I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Seasoned perfectly, cooked perfectly, and accompanied by delicious brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. I had a great time kicking back in the patio with my dog while sampling the spring lineup of cocktails. Lady Luck was by far my favorite! The staff was very friendly and didn't bat an eye considering how much room my 168 lb dog was taking up. I ordered the chicken and waffles sandwich...which looked amazing, and could be. I would not call it a sandwich, because there is no humanly way to eat this like a sandwich. Unfortunately, the waffle was cold and seemed as though it was cooked in advance, and the chicken was so over cooked and dry. My husband got one of their burgers, which I thought was good...but it didn't settle well with him. I had a bite, so I had no problems. Christine is absolutely amazing!! I don't know when she works but you absolutely need to go whenever she does! I arrive at Rebel and there's a huge line for drinks... the FABULOUS CHRISTINE grinds through the drinks and drink orders as if shes doing this in her sleep. Not to mention she makes the BEST drinks while hustlin! Her mango margarita..... guys let me tell you. That is her signature. I am not a margarita person, but this girl had me drinking margaritas all day they were that damn good! Christine is definitely the reason this review is getting five stars. This place has really gone downhill. Use to go for lunch on Sundays or a late night drink when it was Sanctuary. The rebranding to Rebel Kitchen and so-called makeover was a step in the wrong direction. Overpriced, mediocre food in a dive bar type atmosphere. You are better off going to Rusty's Bar and Grill. came here on a Saturday night and was harassed by a male customer. My friends approached the male and his friend and explained the way he spoke to a woman was unacceptable. The male bouncer/security listened to all of it and stepped in and told my friends who were defending me that we would have to leave. Gladly we were leaving already. As a small woman who felt threatened we will now not be back EVER as I no longer feel safe that a bouncer will defend a man who harrasses women. To all women please keep this in mind.
