Rec Bowl Burger
Tricia C.

Can't beat the price of a yummy rec bowl burger. Upcharge for cheese and also bacon but it was worth it. Hubby liked his sourdough club.

Fantastic Tito's and tonic!

Outstanding bar service, especially from the bartender Joesph. He went above and beyond. We never had to wait for service, and he is quick-witted. I highly recommend this bar for service, drinks and of course their famous Rec Burger!

I have been to the rec bowl on several occasions. Always a party on the porch! This is a small bowling alley with only 8 lanes. But the back porch is amazing! So much fun. In the summer it is open to air. In the winter it is closed with heaters. It's quite cozy. In fact we got a bit warm. We held our class reunion here and it was the perfect location! We had our own waitress. There was a live band. We were able to pre pay and order from a select menu. Drinks were flowing! Everyone has an amazing time. Don't worry. You don't have to wait for a special occasion. You can come here at any time and enjoy the patio. It's quite a popular place in the area! Check it out!

This is a hard review. Went to a small retirement party. We sat out on the patio. The night was a nice spring night. The beer was priced ok I had two craft beers which were priced $5 a pint. I had Petoskey Dornish it was very refreshing. I ordered a bar burger it was cooked to order and the garnishes were fresh. I would get that burger again. It came with crinkle fries and they were crisp. There was a band playing and they were really good funny name though Fettuccini Beat. The only problem was our server was forgetful and seemed very overwhelmed. I think she was new. But there was a sign that said they were understaffed please be patient. Our group understood the problem and we were patient. I hope they can get the help because that's a cool place to hang out and listen to a band.

I visited this place last year, pre-COVID. Dirty floors, beer smell everywhere, but an outside patio and a place to dance. Now, it's a different story. Nothing seems to have changed or been "cleaned" up to protect customers and staff. I walked through the bowling alley to get to the bathrooms, and I didn't see anything being cleaned or changed in anticipation of them opening the lanes. I ordered the pretzel bites to go. they were tossed in a bag, hard as rocks, no napkin, but they did include mustard packets. They are having bands and dances there, but there is no masking and zero social distancing. The dance floor is miniscule and folks are piled on top of one another. The DJ needs about 1/8 of the room he's taking up. When I arrived, tables were separated, but customers moved them together. I think to alleviate that, they should put tape or markings on the floor where the tables should be. This is not a totally open pavilion, with air circulating from all directions. The bar is attached to the building and looks very dinghy. This is a well known spot, I guess, in the area, but these are different times. I asked what measures were taken to bring the establishment closer in line with cleanliness and the current situ, but have not received a response. They did seem to have hired one staff person to clean up used plates and glasses, but then they were not wiping down the tables. The table I was at just outside the perimeter of the overhead cover, was sticky and dirty. I will gladly update this review if the owners/ managers can indicate how they updated, cleaned and readied The Rec for the re-opening. "We are all in this together." #CA.TX.FL.AZlearnedthehardway

Sauerkraut -n- kielbasa soup!

Monday - Burger, Fries & a draft beer or soft drink - $5 all day. Other specials and events are listed on the paper calendar at each table. Their burgers are always excellent. I haven't really ventured too far into their menu other than for the burgers, and other daily sandwich lunch specials. However, I tried a cup of their sauerkraut and kielbasa soup the other day and I eventually found my tongue licking the inside of the cup, it was sooo good! This has been a destination lunch & dinner spot for many of the neighboring streets. It's worth stopping in to have a bite if you're in the area.

This place always has some of the best burgers around... Went with the usual quarter pounder and mozzarella sticks. Stick to the basics when getting a burger, just go with cheese and that's all you need... You won't be disappointed.

Never been here thought we South Bend during Patty's Day pub crawl

Okay it's really a bowling alley :-) the tent and the outside bar has a band. Again impressed with this place you can walk up to the bar and get service within a reasonable. Great mgmt planning for the crowds.

Originally a farmhouse, a basement was dug out in the early 1900s to create a bar. The ceiling is only six feet high, and is smaller than the average basement. During Prohibition, it operated as a speakeasy. In 1933, it became the first establishment in Macomb County to receive a liquor license. From that point on, it officially went by Eastside Tavern. The tavern is now run by fourth-generation owner, Heather DeBruyn. No one has lived in the house since 2017, but "the basement bar" is alive and well. Since its opening, Eastside Tavern has featured a limited food menu. The burger is the most popular menu item, often hailed as one of the best in Macomb County. There are a few variations on the menu, all made with a half-pound patty. The bologna sandwich is another popular item. My personal favorite is the quesadilla. All sandwiches come with a basket of chips, and pepperoncinis are available upon request. The chip and pepperoncini combo is jokingly referred to as a "salad bar." The history and vibes make Eastside Tavern one of a kind. Live music takes place every Saturday, and raffles are occasionally held on Wednesdays. When you go, be sure to ask to see the apron.

We were looking forward to trying the food here, since we love restaurants that serve dishes that are made from scratch! They brought house made chips for us to munch on while we looked over the menu... they were so delicious!! I got a Hangover Burger (with candied bacon, sunny egg, avocado crema, caramelized onion, tomato jam, garlic aioli, aged white cheddar)...it definitely had a lot going on, but the flavors were great together! We also tried the Mad Mushroom burger (cremini mushrooms, grilled onion, pickled jalapeño, chipotle gruyere, sriracha aioli)...since the jalapeño was pickled, it was just the right amount of spicy, loved every bite! The burgers were huge so we shared a side of Dirty Fries - the whipped feta was so amazing, and the fries were cooked to perfection. Although I was pretty full, I was intrigued by the Pistachio Olive Oil Milkshake, so I had to try it, and wow was it tasty! The olive oil just brought out the pistachio flavor, and I shamelessly slurped to the last drop!

It was a little echoey so hard to hear each other in a conversation when the restaurant was full but it wasn't that bad and got better when a few of the tables left. The food was good. I got the fish o'lay sandwich which had a nice crunch while the fish itself was still moist. The bun was really good too. My husband got the mad mushroom burger. It was a good juicy burger. Not too greasy at all. Lots of flavor and a good size. He upgraded to the rosemary garlic fries and those were pretty good too. We had a group of 5 and everyone was happy with their meals. There's definitely something for everyone. The chicken sandwich with the macaroni looked really interesting so we'll be back to try other items on the menu. Happy that yelp led us here. I would not have found this place otherwise.

Everyone enjoyed their food and the food sizing were perfect especially with the pricing (average pricing for bar food). I ordered a philly steak sub w/ seasoned fries and along with chips/spinach dip (that was a meal itself and it came with 2 breadsticks) - it was so good. What i did notice was my friend order a side salad for additional $1.99 but her friend ordered a salad as meal which cost about $15.00 - i would say they looked like the same size; so be aware. Plenty of parking! If i had to go back i'll definitely would but the distance from my house i wouldn't go out my way. There are ALOT of TVs with music videos and sports; you can barely hear the music playing which is good i guess especially since you want to be able to touch to your friends. Happy Eating!

The poutine and chicken tenders were both amazing! The chicken was fresh and very good quality, it seemed to be hand breaded. The poutine had great flavor also! The pierogi was dry and not great, so I would skip those next time. For dinner I ordered the mac and cheese and French onion soup. The French onion soup was so salty it was inedible. The Mac and cheese was also disappointing. I thought it would be baked or have a sauce and it didn't. It reminded me more of a kids meal (but with adult prices) and was a small portion.
