She ended up throwing up a few times. We got so much attitude and nasty looks from a couple of the instructors there. Kendyll was definitely the most rude. Might be a good place to go if you're already slim or fit. Not a great place to go for people like me, people who just got back into working out. I experienced an extremely unwelcoming culture to plus size people which is odd for a gym. At first I thought maybe I was imagining the rudeness being directed towards us but by the end of the event it was clear. Additionally, they took sooo many photos throughout the event of us working out. Me and my friend were literally the only people excluded from the photos they posted. The only photo I was in was a group photo. SHED reported my review to Yelp and they took down my original review citing that I wasn't actually at this event. I'm posting a PHOTO that matches my Yelp photo of myself at this event. There were snacks and drinks (smoothie king & Celsius) inside but that doesn't make up for the treatment. I also reported this to lululemon who sent me a personal apology to my email so shout out to them.

First of all, Nicki was just so full of energy and really made you work hard. Honestly, I've never worked this hard! She's tough but still nice and extremely motivating. I would say that as an instructor, she really has found the perfect mix of Drill Sergeant and Motivator, in order to get the most out of her students. The other girls in the class were so welcoming. If you know nothing about pole, then one of the first things you will, hopefully notice about any studio is what a welcoming and supportive community the pole world has created. This studio is also just as welcoming and you will feel right at home. I highly recommend this studio - great instruction and a fun way to get a really good workout.

Second, The Kickstarter is a series of five small 1:1 sessions to assess your fitness and allow you to quickly become a butt kicking class member. This is done by testing strength, flexibility, and endurance. Last is the level program that allows everyone to do the same workout while having modifications built in based on the assessments mentioned above. This has the added benefit of the trainers being able to meet you where you are. I showed up because of word of mouth and would love to pay that forward. It is worth coming in and see for yourself. Ask lots of questions and see if you are not impressed by the team!

I am visiting from out of town this week and I needed a place to work out....b/c all I do is eat when I'm in Memphis. I just happened to find UFK online via martial arts search and I'm glad that I did. They just moved to a new location and the facility is very nice. I've been taking the kickboxing classes every day this week and...YES!! I'M SORE! The lactic acid buildup is fabulous. The bags that they use are muay thai bags - so they're VERY solid/hard....great for conditioning the shins (if you plan on using them as lethal weapons). Every class I've taken this week has been different - Tony and John shake things up, keep it interesting, keep you moving....and if you're not soaked by the end of class, you're slacking. They also do personal training and other martial arts. Highly recommended.

I recently had to switch gyms after my old gym (French Riviera) closed down unexpectedly. Luckily,…read morethey made arrangements for us to workout at EMAC for a month while we were finding a new gym. Unluckily, French had somehow messed up my membership, so EMAC didn't let me workout there but let my wife (we were only a family plan at French). I didn't understand it, but I have my theories about what French was doing. I didn't feel EMAC handled it well, but it's not their fault. So I tried EMAC, and really enjoyed it, so did my wife. It's a little smaller than French Riviera and LA Fitness, has less equipment than them, but definitely has the essential equipment you would need for your workouts. Everything from rowing, to oly lifts, to traditional weightlifting, to green space for crossfit or HIIT workouts. They even have classes that are included in the membership. And it's never too busy to find space or equipment to use. They weren't able to give me the same discount French Riviera did, so we are basically paying twice as much for this gym, but hey, that's life. I'd definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the area.
