This place has lived up to their promise so far. Not sure what others are griping about. I come in, check in, do my thing, and then leave. No issues, ever... The machines all work properly. The facilities are well kept. The employees are nice and very helpful. You can take classes if you want. You can lift weights. You can do cardio. You can swim in one of three pools if you want. They have a basketball court, sauna, steam room, two daycares, and a spin class room just for spin. Lots of stuff for all ages! It's based on your income so the rates adjust to your economics status. The YMCA in Olive Branch is okay unless you want to play basketball. They use to have two time slot so you could play on the weekends but they took one time slot away and added kids soccer; after the kids soccer ran it's course they removed basketball altogether on the weekends. I work mornings so now that only leaves me with one day which is Tuesday and even then the man that works in that department always ends the adult pick-up early for some reason. I'm not sure if it's a racial thing or what something needs to be changed. read more

Why is it so hard to play basketball at the Olive branch location if you can make the morning times? The other locations have times available on the weekends at least, and when nothing is going on in there you would think the goals would be down for people to play but no. I went in today and they just canceled the only available day I could come they could have at least put it on the website or email anything so I wouldn't waste my gas. When you ask someone in charge they give you some BS response that makes zero sense. If you don't want people to play just take the goals down already. read more

I swim in the Olive Branch MS YMCA pool sometimes. I see how people entering the sauna there. I noticed people entering sauna fully clothed in hats and shoes. I do not believe it is sanitary. Recently traveled to Europe. There people not allowed even to be in bathing suits in sauna due to sanitary rules. Please update your sanitary requirements. read more

If you're not Caucasian than this isn't the gym for you! The manager always treats people as if you're beneath him or you don't pay the maximum for your membership. Tell the men that the basketball court is closed even though they have mask on, following the 6 foot rule & only 6 people on the court. Than a few days later have a class with 20 people on the basketball court without masks but that's okay I guess because they're Caucasian. They have actual classrooms but instead of using them (which were empty) they used the basketball court. Not understanding that. Use to be a really good gym but here lately it's feeling real unwelcoming. Guess I'll drive the 15 minutes to Lifetime where I know I am welcome along with my money. read more

I go to the Olive Branch, Nuber, Sweeney and Collierville locations. Olive Branch has the nicest facility and offers a full group class schedule. Robyn, Robin and Carolyn are very good instructors. Calli has quite a following, as well. This is the branch I prefer for classes after work. Robyn does Lift and Load at 5:30 on Mondays. It's a structured full body weight class. She also has Spin at 5:00 on Wednesdays preceded by another L&L that I can't make. Silly day job! There is a rotating class Thursday at 5:30. It's always a gamble who will be in front of the room, but I've hit some really good circuit classes with Caroline at lead. Robin has some classes during the day Friday. I would LOVE for her to pick up a Tuesday night 5:30 circuit! I hope they read their reviews! They also have indoor and outdoor pools, a sauna, machine rooms (one fairly large and a small one in the back) and basketball and racquetball courts. They offer personal training, child care, holiday events and races. I think I even saw a flyer for guitar lessons! read more

While the outdoor pool is decent, the poolside chaise lounges sit directly in the sun. There is absolutely no shade whatsoever. Also, the indoor training rooms are old and dirty. The biggest annoyance, however, is the office staff. I witnessed the brunette lady that babysits kids in the kids "classroom" area being rude to some of the children there and directing them to "sit down". Really? You have a room full of toys, yet you don't allow kids to be kids and play in the toy-filled room they are hanging around in? (Mind you, this worker lady acted this way with my presence in the room. Could you imagine how she acts with the children WITHOUT anyone else in the room?) All I can say about that is no child of mine will EVER be left in that room. The front office staff is almost as horrible, too. After filling out an information form when initially TOURING this place, I indicated (on the form) that I did NOT want to receive any emails (especially promotional). However, I am constantly receiving worthless emails from this YMCA as well as phone calls all throughout the day. Just a tip people: Don't continuously call residents to try and recruit their money. If I, for example, was interested in officially obtaining a membership, I would have done so already. Furthermore, if you are trying to attract more customers/members, quit bugging me (and others) in the middle of the workday with your uninteresting, "promotional offer" phone calls and what not. read more

This branch got a new director recently after the previous one retired. It is now apparently only going to cater to gym bunnies. An established pickleball program which uses the gym for set up for 3 court is one of the first casualties in his new regime. He has done this totally without the input from the 40-60 people who play pickleball there on a regular basis. He has decided that basketball is also to be one of the programs cut as they are taking 1/2 the current regulation size basketball court and turning it into a WEIGHT room. Keep in mind that the facility already has an adequate weight room which it shares with the treadmills and step machines. Since they are apparently also eliminating the Silver Sneakers program it seems the YMCA has declared open season on Seniors. We have already given our 30 day notice cancelling our membership. I know others have already followed suit. Two of us spoke to him to rethink this and his response was he appreciated our membership but basically not enough to change his attitude. In other words he doesn't give a crap about the pickleball people or seniors. Good luck folks as I am sure he will cut other activities for the older crowd since obviously we don't count. read more

This is a fantastic family venu. The indoor/outdoor pools are awesome and well maintained. The YMCA offers swimming classes, water aerobics, basketball, volleyball, and tons of exercise equipment! You can sign up for a personal trainer for a modest fee. Membership is based on income so it is very reasonably priced. Guest passes are available for one person or a family.
