It can be completely hit or miss depending on who your bartender is. And last night I witness a truly disrespectful interaction between my friend who is a WOC and one of the bartenders. I understand having a limited drink menu, but each time my friend asked for a recommendation she was responded to as if she had just spit in that woman's face. The final straw was when my friend said, "I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with most of these drinks. What do you have that is sweet?" asking for a recommendation. The bartender looked at her and said "sugar" then rolled her eyes so hard I'm surprised they didn't get stuck in the back of her head. I understand being over your job, but my friend did nothing wrong. Was not rude, and in return got spoken to like a child. I don't know what the chip on this person's shoulder was, but if you absolutely HAVE to to be vile to everyone you speak to, try a back of the house position because you are actively damaging your bar's reputation.

There was a preset menu for cocktails, mocktails, wines, and beer. Some of the mocktails were sweeter than my liking, but it was fine. The staff were awesome. The bartender was solo up until it turned into a cash bar -- she was working really hard! The music was at a great volume, and food was being passed around regularly. It's really a great space for having a private party. And on top of that, while it can fill up quickly, there's free street parking outside. I do wish the bathroom was lockable -- the stall within there is, but otherwise things could get awkward. Pro tip -- it's behind the stage.

After consulting with the handy dandy Yelp app, we came across An Poitin Stil, and we are so glad. The entire restaurant looks like an old Irish pub, very sort of medieval-ish, and so us being in our ren faire clothes meant we fit in super well! We quickly found the Guinness Harp table in an alcove. Staff came by right away and were quite friendly. Food was excellent, very hearty and tasty. A couple of us got the shepherd's pie and one got the fish & chips. Now, the fun part. It was after the lunch rush, so less busy. We wanted to get some photos of us in our ren clothes in this very ren-style place. Not only were the staff fine with this, they even got a couple of decor items off the walls for us to pose with, and they took photos of us with them. Would we go again? YES. We're planning a meetup soon with our other friends, all of us in garb, to have a lovely meal. It's easy to get to, parking is free, plentiful and the atmosphere was fantastic.

My husband had his favorite - a blue cheese burger with French fries. My brother and I decided to go big and order the Black n Blue Burger. He had his blackened - I had mine plain. Both were topped with melted Bleu Cheese Crumbles, Sautéed Onion, Mushrooms and Roasted Red Peppers. We both decided on Sweet Potato Fries with our burgers. The burgers we ordered were cooked and prepared to our specifications and were delicious. The fries were crispy, not greasy, and seasoned perfectly. Both Kelly and Rich took excellent care of us. Bouncer at the door checking i.d.'s (saw him turn a couple girls down for having fakes). They serve a larger than standard size bar menu and we tried out several different items as well as cocktails and some craft draft beers. A Blue Hawaiin or Old Fashioned Whiskey cocktail is priced at 9 dollars each, but are served in full size pint glasses! I had a Rec Room Club Sandwich with sweet potato fries (see my pic) and my wife had a grilled Reuben and waffle fries. Both of them were insanely huge! Absolutely do not order an appetizer if you're going to get a sandwich or a burger. I literally could only eat half of my club sandwich and fries and I am generally a big eater. My club sandwich with s.p. fries was 12 bucks and it was a great value. It also tasted great and was made fresh with what seemed like Boar's Head meats, or something of that quality. I was very, very impressed and also quite surprised. It's a bar, so it's not the cleanest place in the world (see their bathrooms), but it's got surprisingly good food. I had a Troeg's IPA and 1 other craft pint (I forget which one) and they were 8 bucks each. I would definitely return here for the same reason...to eat and pre-game a bit before a show next door at The Recher. Note: there's no street parking here, but there's tons of paid parking lots behind here. It's like 5 bucks to park there for 8 hours at night.

This was a nice and spacious event space with high top tables and chairs in addition to a long bar area. There were flat screen TVs mounted on the walls, so checking out the latest sporting events was not an issue. We got our bingo cards and dabblers and looked over the menu to order. There were two menus; the brunch menu and the traditional CVP menu. We got something from both: the CVP wings (mild), with tater tots from the traditional menu and paired it with the bottomless brunch drink package, which included your choice of house Bloody Mary, mimosa, screwdriver or Natural Light draft beer (you have to stick with one choice). The servers were pleasant and we placed our orders at the bar. The food arrived in about 30 minutes, but was warm, not as hot as I wanted. The wings were cooked well with a mild buffalo sauce and the tater tots came in a small metal bucket; enough for up to 4 people. They were fresh and not greasy, just wished they were hotter. For the bottomless brunch drink package, I chose the screwdriver and a pleasant server came over to our table and put a wristband on me so that I could walk up to the bar for refills. The vodka was well vodka, but I didn't have a headache the next day, so that was good! The upstairs area seems to be an event space. The downstairs area was the main bar with tables as well. All in all, CVP was ok for the event I attended and may visit again in the future.

I came to Charles Village Pub twice for trivia finals in March & September 2023. Unfortunately, I was from the businesses in the southside division of trivia (relative to Baltimore), which is various ones in Anne Arundel & Howard County. It's unfortunate it was always here or on the northside of town. The current finals location is even a bit further from my AA County home than here, but I was happy that they at least changed so that Charles Pub didn't get a bunch of business. The place has a somewhat small upstairs area and especially small for 20 finalist trivia teams of 4+ people. Both times I did eat lunch here. Wings were pretty good, but nothing to write home about. But it's very slow to get service. One of the people in my party was getting very upset about water refill or something as the staff kept forgetting to check on him. Also, the bill couldn't be split, and that was also chaotic. That was on the 1st visit. 2nd visit was even a bit worse. We were squeezed in the bar area. One of us had to stand as there wasn't enough room for all 5 of us basically the last to get there although ultimately there was some shifting and everyone got to sit, but it shouldn't have been this overcrowded to begin with. I think I was able to pay individually this time as we were individuals at the bar as opposed to a table, but I noticed this extra charge on top of tax, like some inflation fee on top of what is posted on the menu for the price roughly a buck or two more. I don't like how this business runs this. Just raise the menu price; I don't like the hidden fee. If the trivia was coming back here for finals, I would make sure to eat an early lunch beforehand and not give Charles Pub a dime. Only positive was the pretty good wings; why it doesn't get the dreaded 1-star.
