WARNING: this is misleading. Not sure if it's intentional or not, but once you buy a bike, they won't take it back.
    Hansel W.

SUMMARY: terrible customer service, won't take responsibility for damage, 'Reckless Guarantee' isn't worth anything. UPDATE: so they also damaged my kickstand (see picture - 3 of the knobs on the end of the legs are missing) and when I went to go ask them about it, the staff person simply said "I wasn't working on the weekend, sorry" and proceeded to try and ignore me. After pushing further, he gave me 4 dust caps that were obviously too small (see picture) and when I asked to borrow some tape to try to fix it myself, he said "sorry that's not really what we use the tape for"...I guess this bike repair shop buys tape for something other than repairing bikes... Worst of all, he then literally tried to 'shoo' me out of the store with his arms, stating "we aren't even open yet" even though the doors were wide open... On a more positive note, this whole ordeal has helped me connect with some other cyclists on social media who've had to deal with Reckless bike's BS. We have enough material to make our own sitcom... --- WARNING: their "Reckless Guarantee" on their website is misleading. Not sure if it's intentional or not, but just know that once you pay for a bike, they won't take it back, even if it's within the "60 day" time frame. Purchased a brand new bike and even asked a sales person about their "Reckless Guarantee" and he said if I bring it back in good condition it should be fine. Brought it back after a few days in great conditand the manager said no - no refund, no exchange, no store credit, nothing. He offered to sell the bike for me in the store, but didn't even put a price tag on the bike and was very rude when I asked questions about how it was going. Ended up taking it back and going to try to sell it myself... Aside from the whole ordeal above, I've seen the staff here ignore, mistreat, and respond in the most condescending way when people ask questions about the bikes (literally overheard a conversation where someone was asking about drop bars and the staff basically laughed at her). On the flip side, I had a pretty good interaction with the staff guy that helped me initially (even though he told me false information about the return policy), and have seen the staff interact in a kind and genuine way to other customers. Sort of hit or miss I guess. All in all, won't be back here.

$12 for a generic bike tube. $6 at MEC. $7 at Dunbar Cycle. This is a good place to buy from if you have absolutely no other choice.

The customer services in this bike shop is the best. Every time I've gone in there the owner has been super helpful. I highly recommend it.

For that…read morepurpose, I ended up getting a great little road bike 3.5 years ago, which I perform basic, basic (I stress basic) maintenance on every week or so. Two years back, I took my bike in before the season start for a tune up and assessment. The mechanics told me that my drive train was worn out, and would likely need replacing in the coming year. For financial reasons, I held off, and figured I'd just beg to the bike gods, and stretch my luck. However, in the last month or so, my gears started slipping, making some funny grinding noises, and to the untrained eye, didn't look like they were in the greatest shape. Sadly, I surmised that my trusty stead had had enough, and pretty soon, my sad bank account would feel the burn. I figured it couldn't hurt to have someone look at it, maybe adjust the gears, and give me a ballpark as to how long it'd last, and the potential cost of a new drive train. That's where Ride On came in. At random, I rolled into their shop, where the lovely gent at the service area had my bike up on the stand in less than 5 minutes. Another 5 minutes later, after performing some bike magic in front of my eyes, he declared that the bike was good to go. I was flabbergasted! SO SOON? He smiled and told me he had tightened up the gears, and that they should run smoothly from now on. Before finishing up, I sheepishly told him that I'd been previously told that the drive train probably needed a change soon, and if I could please have a price quote. He pulled out a tool, had a good look at my bike, and declared that the chain, and it's corresponding parts were in decent shape, and he couldn't foresee my needing a replacement any time soon. COLOUR ME BLOWN AWAY. I think I even muttered.... "wait.... what??", to which he reassured me that the condition in total looked fine. I mean, I'm absolutely sure I look full on bike naive, and if you'd told me that i needed a new chain, I think I'd have stupidly thrown my money at him. But this fantastic gent just smiled, and said everything was looking good. I'm glad I didn't embarrass him by leaking happy tears because I am so infinitely grateful for the honesty. No up selling, no drawing out the service, no lying, just good, honest, and kind service. I would not hesitate to return, and will return for all my biking needs. Thank you bike angel.

Awesome bicycle tour of Stanley Park!…read more I had an amazing 3+ hour bicycle tour with Zack around Stanley Park. As a history major and as a Vancouver native, his knowledge of the park's history, plants, trees, animals and the indigenous people was vast and interesting. Everyone in our group was engaged and appreciative of all the sights and sounds during our tour. There were even people not on our bike tour who listened in on what Zack had to say. The bikes were outfitted with a pouch to carry wallets, keys, phones, and small cameras and or binoculars. There's also a cage for water bottles. We often stopped to see notable landmarks, sculptures, and monuments. For the nature enthusiasts, Zack showed us blue heron nests, Beaver Lake and forest. Everyone enjoyed learning about the various trees (we even spotted a woodpeckers!) I highly recommend this company for a bike tour of Stanley Park!

I pre-booked online half day rentals and even discussed with them that we can pay hourly up to the day rate if we go over. Half day ended up allowing us to cycle twice around Stanley with a stop for lunch in the park, then around false creek to Granville Island, spent a short time in Granville before taking an Aquabus back to Hornby street which is straight back to their facility. The bike path is directly outside of their shop, so absolutely no concern navigating our way through the city from there. We rented 2 e bikes and 2 street bikes (for those not 16) & all that biking was fairly easy to manage with one big hill coming up Hornby the street bikes walked. We also used them for our luggage storage while we rode and that was sooo nice!!

I've tried out five other Vancouver bike shops over the past decade for various small and larger repairs. Over the past three years, I've been to three different bike shops because of a clicking sound and a ride that felt increasingly not smooth. A couple of places thought they knew what it was and fixed something, but the clicking continued with no improvement. The third place couldn't hear the noise and suggested I just wasn't getting the friction shifter for my gears exactly in the right place. When I brought my bike into the Bike Repair Center, John went over it with me and very quickly showed me a number of problems - a wheel that was ancient and causing vibration, a gear set and chain that were worn, and pedals that were worn out and loose, among other things. As I'm someone who doesn't have a background in mechanics, I greatly appreciated John's ability to quickly and accurately pinpoint the problems and explain them to me in simple terms without talking down to me. He was great with all my questions and seems to consider education about bike care part of his job. It's a slow season and he said it would take a couple of days to finish all the work, but called me the next day to say my bike was ready. The ride home was unbelievably smooth. No noise or vibration, everything feels steady and tight, and my bike feels much safer and infinitely more enjoyable to ride than it has for at least the past couple of years. I'm delighted with the whole experience and will be returning here for ongoing bike maintenance and repairs, and recommending this place to friends. Thanks, John, for excellent, quick, respectful service at fair prices.

Took my e-bike in to be repaired, and it WILL be the last time I bring a bike in to get repaired…read more Was told to bring my bike in last week of March, and I would receive an email or call to let me know when to bring it in. I did not hear from West Point Cycles - West 10th. I decided to stop in to find out when to bring the bike in, they told me to bring it that day. They had a date to repair my bike and was told the bike would be ready for pick up on Tuesday, April 8. I called on Thursday, April 10 - as I did not hear from them on Tuesday, or Wednesday, they advised they had my mobile number listed as a landline (why I received no notification) and why I did not receive anything via email is another mystery. Thursday's call advised the bike would be ready that night, or Friday, April 11. I decided to call Friday, April 11th and told me my bike would be ready tomorrow Saturday, 12. Then the manager Dave called (unprofessional) advises that the bike will not be ready until Sunday, April 13, as a part needs to come from their Langley store. They did not have a repair date like they told me of Saturday, April 5, or Sunday April 6? The bike was able to change gears prior to taking it - now it won't. They never advised this when I picked it up. I have lost confidence and trust in West Point Cycles - West 10th - I feel that I have been strung along, and they keep coming up with excuses why my bike is not ready. The lack of customer service is mind blogging and how does an organization operate with this much lack of service and care to the customer. It is the customer who is doing leg work when you want a bike repaired here. They did offer me a discount on the repair - which I refused.
