Love that the track how much has been kept out of the landfill. It's a wonderful way of reminding you that, if you're opting to purchased used/unwanted items (and sometimes spruce them up!), that you'll get better quality than the junk available these days. Even more, you're making a decision to opt out of the consumerism that is largely landfill Amazon stuff. If you follow on Instagram, they'll show their "haul" for a particular date. I don't live nearby, so I'll often try to get there for one or two pieces they showed and find that even a day later the item is gone. They just sell stuff fast! This makes it hit or miss I wish they had multiple locations, perhaps one in Clackamas from our transition center? I imagine the intention behind this non-profit would be appreciated nationwide. Big dreams, I know. I believe the place is run by volunteers (or mostly volunteers), which is a beautiful thing. Outside they'll have pots and wrought iron items and furniture. Inside has crafting items and hardware, tools and kitchenware, more furniture and all sorts of goodies. It's smaller than a thrift store, which I appreciate because sometimes the huge places can be overwhelming. Ultimately, I recommend you visit. Maybe you'll find something, maybe not, but if you prefer well-made, older goods, you'll eventually find something you'll very much love. read more

This a great place filled with smaller pieces of furniture, nick nacks, arts and crafts supplies and all kinds of odds and ends it is a cool place.. It is a small to meduim sized store and they cram a lot of items into the store. The staff are great as well as their prices.. Street parking is easy to find. I found some sort shelf made out of reclaimed wood and metal pipingl. We are are for sure repurposing it. They are also negotiable on prices which is excellent. Great place. I got some cards for a $1 a piece and some sweet nick nacks. read more

This place is a salvage shop that is an incredible resource for any kind of artist! It is incredibly cheap and has plenty of art supplies, fabric, yarn, papers and paints, woodworking material, vinyls, magazines, antiques, and random bits and baubles. The staff is genuinely nice and make shopping a pleasant experience every time; I've actually come to prefer it to Scrap, a similar store in the area. My only wish is that they would carry more beads and jewelry-making supplies! Their stock is somewhat random and quickly rotating because of how they source it however, so this isn't necessarily their fault. read more

What a great shop to browse around in. Kind of like a bit of a thrift store, arts and craft and a maybe a bit antique store. Hours are a bit limited be sure to check them out if making the trip. At this moment it is a good place to get used or almost new art supplies for your kids or yourself. Last visit here we noticed a lot more variety of stuff for sale which kept us entertained as we wanderer around. We will be back often as places like this change a lot and we never know what we will find on the next visit. read more

This place is more geared towards saving random things from the landfill, which is a great thing. Yes, they have some vintage/antique items and a wall of old vinyl records, but it's mostly random stuff you could use in various art or craft projects, along with some party favors/toys and tools, hardware and industrial items. Their prices are quite low, too, so good for the budget. You need some random pieces of fabric, or a handful of puzzle pieces? How about markers, paint or beads? They have bins of rubber stamps, clamps, and nails and so many other things. Plus they take donations, so if you have some items that you don't have a use for, but are still useful and shouldn't just be thrown away, this place is a great option. read more

I always thought ReClaim It's mission was to lessen the amount of waste by, literally, re-claiming it from the Metro Transfer Station (i.e., the dump.) Lately their focus seems to have shifted to making money. They have also stopped accepting community donations to a large extent. It's disappointing because I used to stop by 2-3 times a week and always walked out with something for my crafts. Now, larger and pricier items sit for weeks and it has become less interesting to me. If they need monetary support, they should write grants. (Also, they received over $13 in donations.) read more

My teens love this store, as do I. It is so rewarding to find inexpensive used art supplies to turn into our creative projects. The prices are fair, and the selection changes quickly. We went twice last week, and found a bag of fantastic finds both times. I also enjoy the employees who are ultra helpful and hilarious. read more

The staff is super kind and helpful with creative ideas and advice. I have loved getting interesting fabric scraps for projects and other crafts! All of their items are greatly priced and inspiring. Decent sized shop with lots of goodies! The furniture was crazy cheap for the quality of the pieces. They also had quite a bit of hardware and pieces of furniture so if you need some nice table or chair legs or just hardware I'd definitely check this place out. read more

We discard material goods because in our minds they are bad, worn, out of style. Cracked Pots collects those and reuses them in community art projects. The Reclaim It is their second hand junk store for the public looking for things you would find in thrift stores or "antique" stores. The material is well organized. It is not as school and art supplies oriented as Scrap, and although it has building materials, the Rebuilding Center is better for that. Still we hope it will grow into what the Bay Area has for artists looking for unusual components. Prices are middle, not antique shop high or garage sale low. When I visited, they had piano keys, windows, counter, flooring, carpet samples, old golf clubs and a sled, furniture, chains, door hardware. Cracked Pots organizes two art shows of art from reused materials: a show at Edgefield, and the Glean show, last at Disjecta. Information on those on their website. Certainly 5 stars for their programs. They have very limited weekend-type hours. Check their website. read more

I get what they're trying to do here and I'm all about reusing and recycling. That being said, I've been here twice and I've never found anything worth purchasing. There were a couple things I likely would have purchased had they been a bit less expensive. It's just never been enough of a bargain for me to buy. I guess I've given this place a couple chances and I don't think I'll be back anytime soon. I do appreciate that they have a Chinook Book coupon, which is what brought me in in the first place. It's also located close to the bookstore from Portlandia, so that's fun. read more

I's been meaning to stop by ReClaim It for a while, I wish I'd gone sooner! I found several really nice plant pots, some garden stands, and hanging baskets. My mom took home a really large outdoor planter and it was such a good deal! There are some random, more raw materials that can creatively used for other purposes (metal brackets, tubes, windows) and they have items made from these materials for sale and on display. I'll definitely be adding this to my rotation of antique and thrift stores that I visit regularly. read more

Always fun. Always interesting. Very inexpensive. I have a copper-lined wooden humidor ripped out of an old bar being demolished in Portland. I also bought a 6' lawn decor windmill. I frequently buy old frames, chairs, vases, and letters from old signs. You never know what you will find, and the cost is low so it's OK to take a chance you'll figure out a use later. read more

ReClaim It, a unique Portland reuse, re-purpose nonprofit and store, has a great pop-up shop some weekends this December at Lloyd Center! I found some great items all reasonably priced and all made out of things that were going to end up in the landfill until they were rescued by artists. I got a cool fox stuffed-animal buddy made from a recycled sweater and a few other odds and ends. I like their main store, but this really showcases some artists work. read more

I drop into Reclaimit to check new great gems, whether for art or home projects. if you are conservation minded this is the spot as the majority of goods are gleaned from the "dump" or Metro landfill. I was happy to discover Reclaimit has new open hours, Wed. through Sun. 10:00 to 5:00. This is on my go to list! read more
