    Chicken Caesar wrap

My friend texted me asking if I tried the Caesar wrap and I hadn't yet. So I made my way there and it hit the spot!! It had croutons in it which I love! I wish they were chopped up a bit more but I would definitely get it again. Our waitress was great!

Such a great place for food and drinks! I've never gotten their entrees because always just get appetizers (they're SO good). My absolute favorite food item they have are their pulled pork nachos. They're delicious! I've tried a few of their drinks and have liked them all. The staff are friendly, efficient, and check in frequently! They have lots of outdoor seating and it's a super fun place to hangout:)

Had the pleasure of sitting in the garden for a nice slow lunch. There is a good mix of shade and sun and is well surrounded by trees and greenery. The service was awesome, very kind and knowledgeable. The chicken ceasar wrap was very well made, but almost tasteless. Didn't taste bad, just like nothing. The wing sauce was good, but they were very tough. Nice selection of drinks.

I went to Southern Tier Brewery on Sunday, June 14th, right before I went to the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Miami Marlins baseball game. My boyfriend and I sat on the patio since it was warm outside; inside was freezing for me. The popular brewery is right across the street from Pittsburgh Pirates Stadium, a great location, and on game days, the restaurant offers a game-day menu only. The outside patio is very spacious, has turf ground, and is dog-friendly and kid-friendly. The server was nice, friendly, and the food as well as the drinks came out in a timely manner. Lastly, I ate the Philly cheesesteak and my boyfriend had a smashburger and fries. The Philly cheesesteak was so delicious, just needed extra cheese. I had a cocktail (forgot the name), it was delicious, and my boyfriend had a bitter IPA beer with his meal. Southern Tier Brewery is a great place, especially before watching a baseball game, and there are no stairs entering the building. Make sure you check out this hot spot downtown Pittsburgh.

This place was a hit! Very busy on a game day which was to be expected, but still impacted timing. The atmosphere is lively and fun! The service was friendly and patient despite it being a packed day. We had a large group and ordered appetizers, drinks, and some entrees. Everything was delicious! The fried pickles & pulled pork nachos were great. However it did take a long while to order another round of drinks.

i LOVE southern tier and eat here regularly. i think their steel city burger is the best burger in pittsburgh. recently, we ordered fried pickles & a steel city burger. our same order we get every time. we waited about 30 mins and a worker brought out loaded fries and a regular, plain cheeseburger to us. we said "sorry wrong table." i watched her go back to the kitchen and set it down on the counter. 10 mins later, a different server picked up the same order of a plain burger & loaded fries and tried to give it to us. we said sorry but, again, we ordered a steel city burger and fried pickles. Our actual waiter comes by 5 mins later and says "yall still waiting on your food?" and im like.... yeah we ordered fried pickles and a steel city burger. he comes back out with the SAME BURGER that's been passed to us 2 other times and tries to give it to us. I say for a 4th time now that we ordered the steel city burger. instead of apologizing and correcting our order, he said he "didn't hear us say that." So I just said whatever and reluctantly took the plain burger. Now it's been like 35 mins and the burger is cold. we also never got out pickles. i just took the check and we left. $15 for a cold burger that i didn't even order.

Came here with family for a late lunch. Nice enough to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Had a gose, a giant pretzel (forgot a pic) and a blackened chicken sandwich. The gose was tasty. The pretzel was too hot to touch for a few minutes. But when it wasn't singeing off my fingerprints it was good. The sandwich was okay. I couldn't taste the bacon at all. I thought it was the cheese overpowering the bacon but my brother had the same sandwich without the cheese and he said the bacon on his sandwich had no flavor, too. Overall it was a good meal even if the bacon disappointed.

Great place for a Saturday lunch! The cheeseburger snd cheesesteak sounded so good; we got both and shared them. Both were tasty - really liked the beer cheese on the cheesesteak. I had the early bird since it's a limited release and enjoyed it. It was too cold for patio seating, but would love to come back and enjoy the patio in warmer weather. Service was great! Happy to have experienced another Pittsburgh Brewery.

I had the best Buddha bowl I've ever had at Southern Tier Brewery! I know it doesn't sound like it pairs naturally, but I decided to order it with their Oktoberfest -- and it did not disappoint. I'm usually not a fan of stronger ales, but this one was smooth and flavorful without being overwhelming. They had live entertainment, and the place was lively and buzzing, especially as the night went on. Our server, Marilyn, was absolutely wonderful -- super cute, friendly, and professional. She truly made our experience that much better. All in all, a fun, energetic spot with great food, great beer, and great service. I'd definitely come back again!

We stopped into Southern Tier on a rainy Monday night after hanging out on the north shore for a bit. We were seated quickly and were able to put our drinks in quickly, but I was told I couldn't order the spiked apple cider because they didn't have the supplies for it yet. Why display it on a menu then? We then went to order our food, and a few of us tried to order some of the $5 bites-- which were, again, displayed on a menu-- only to be told they were actually only that price on Sundays. I ended up going with a pretzel and a chicken sandwich instead, and I had to ask someone for the aioli I had asked for when I ordered because it wasn't brought out with our food. The food was okay, but the food and drinks were a bit of a letdown after being told things weren't available or were only a certain price one day of the week. Hopefully it's just a temporary hiccup.

We stopped by for dinner yesterday and were able to get a table for five around 6:30pm immediately. It's huge inside with multiple tables as well as a covered patio and an outdoor area. They have a decent variety of pub food but I was really there for their Pumpking. You're able to get a draft flight with five mini drafts which was perfect. Their beers are delicious as per usual and my favorite thing about southern tier. Be warned, for the $5 bites menu there is teeny tiny font at the bottom saying it's only for Sunday's and not on home game days. My friend ordered their apple cider sangria which was on their fall cocktail menu only to be told they couldn't make it yet. We ordered our food and they forgot to bring out the chicken that came with my friend's bowl as well as my friend's Diet Coke. Everyone's food was decent but not mind blowing by any means. I would go back if I was in the area but would adjust my expectations accordingly.

I'm a huge fan of their beer, but the food offerings for veg-heads are consistently so-so. I tried one of the rice bowls on my latest trip. It was healthy and sufficiently filling, but nothing to write home about. The presentation was nice. They used to have better vegetarian/vegan-friendly entrees.

Ask the Community - Southern Tier Brewery Pittsburgh

Does the restaurant open early on game days? Oct 12th specifically?

    No, normal business hours.

What options do they have for the non-drinkers in the group?

Iced tea, lemonade, soft drinks and a house made Victory Root Beer

Do you have a private area indoors for rehearsal dinners, showers, etc.?

Not that I saw. It was an open space. You might be able to rent the entire space indoor or out as it is not that big to separate groups properly.

Do you have an outdoor patio and do you allow dogs?

    Yes and yes.

Does anyone know their happy hour specials?

I've been asking that ever since they opened and the answer remains the same: they don't have a happy hour

    Do they take reservations?

They take reservations Monday through Thursday on non-game days. No reservations on Friday through Sunday or if the Steelers or Pirates are playing.

    Is there outdoor seating?

The outdoor seating area is now open!

We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. So have you seen that meme out on the InterT00bZ that's like "Hey let's go to that new beer place…read morethey have $27 warm hazy IPAs in the middle of a parking lot?" Yeah, that's the vibe I was getting at Velum. There was a lot to like and a lot to not like about this place, so I'll start with the bad and end on a positive note. First off, it's in an old brewery and it looks like a warehouse. I'm not sure if they still brew their own beers but it straight up looks like an old warehouse. I've seen abandoned warehouses that look less like a warehouse than Velum. Maybe some people like that vibe but I felt like the cops were going to bust in and shut the party down like a teen coming-of-age movie. The taproom is all the way in the back, and so are the bathrooms, so if you break the magic circle, prepare to get your steps in. There's no kitchen. They DO partner with a food truck but they're getting their own review. I paid $10 for an average cocktail and $8 for a 12 oz cider that frankly wasn't that great. Either better drinks or bigger drinks, please. And everything is community seating. I don't hate the idea but I didn't care for the vibe so when I found a smaller table my friend and I grabbed it and boarded it. With that being said, there was a lot to like too. First off, we were there for a pinball night, and they have a great selection of pinball tables there, both classic and modern. I really would have liked information on joining a pinball league, but that wasn't offered anywhere that I could find. Plus on that particular night it was $10 for all-you-can-play, so we definitely got our money's worth there. The staff that I did interact with were super nice. That goes a long way and saved this from being a worse review. And the place is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for me. All in all, I had a decent night. But the question as always is if I'll go back. Unfortunately, probably not of my own accord. If there's another pinball event, I'll definitely go, but it's not going into my rotation of cool spots. Not every place is meant for me, and that's fine.
