First beer after the half and my flight definitely hit the spot! Big space with plenty of indoor/outdoor spots to choose from. Didn't interact with staff much, but they seemed friendly enough when I was getting my beers. A nice spot to wind down. They had a taco vendor the Sunday I went & that was a 10/10. Worth the walk over the bridge from lawrenceville.

One of my favorite places to be! Their outdoor area is the best and provides a lot of seating/gathering areas. The brews are wonderful, as is the staff! Their sours are my favorite, especially the alien champagne!

Space is huge! Great place to watch a game and catch up with friends. Lots of options that vary from sweet to bitter. Would recommend

This place rocks! Such a great hangout spot with incredible beer. Had the Hazy IPA on a beautiful May evening and everything was right in the world :). Side note: the music was on point during my visit. CSNY Southern Cross and Bob Segers Against the Wind

One of my favorite Pittsburgh breweries to visit now that's it's getting cold out. The beer and other drinks are all great but my favorite thing about grist is the outdoor area with all the fire pits to sit around. The staff are all super friendly and would even come check on our fire to see if it needed some more wood to keep my friends and I warm while enjoying a few drinks.

This is such a cool spot in town!! They have a lot of space inside and outside for large parties and it was so nice it wasn't crowded on a Sunday afternoon. It's also super cool that people come down here to play games. I saw a table playing Magic next to us. They have a great selection of beer and love that they have a mocktail on the menu. They do these really cute beer flights that are awesome since you can try many things. Love that they have a cider too. Definitely a great spot to chill with friends and you can bring your dog and sit outside too. They have a featured food truck outside too which is awesome.

It's giving...Coachella. It's giving Abercrombie & Fitch circa 1999. This place pulls massive crowds of beautiful, similar-looking people. And when the clock nears 10pm they all seem to vanish. They often have food trucks. They close abruptly. The beer here though...is great. The tap selection is also massive but luckily all beers are beautifully built. I really enjoyed the Cold IPA, you should get one of those. If they don't have one, demand that they brew it again.

Dog friendly outdoor area with lots of water dishes available. High quality microbrews and even a sour on tap that I liked. Food options came from 2 food trucks. Parking can be tricky as it's limited on a very narrow street Try the English dark mild, 3.7%, London Crawling.

Incredible brewery!! Absolutely massive. Cocktails and other yummy drinks available, food trucks, huge outdoor patio, dog friendly, amazing beer, just a cool spot!! I was so impressed. Came here for PizzaFest awhile back- came back for the beer and the vibes. This place has you coming back. Super unique and worth all the hype

I stopped by Grist House around 2pm for PizzaFest on Sunday. While it was crowded and tough to find an open seat, it wasn't overly crowded. The line to get a beer at the bar wasn't too long. While Grist House doesn't serve food, they usually have a food truck which was barbecue this time - I didn't try it because I was eating the pizza from PizzaFest. It's a pretty big space and lots of people bring their cute dogs which makes it fun! My summer beer of choice is a sour and they only had one sour on the list but it was delicious!!

5 -I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here. Skip to the end to see my rating scale. When it comes to breweries, Grist House hits every one of my most important criteria...really good beer, aesthetically pleasing outdoor area, and availability of good food. Their outdoor seating area is really nicely done with a couple of fire pits. They had probably 16 beers to choose from, and a couple of different choices of several styles...maybe four or five sours, two or three hazy IPAs, etc. While they don't make their own food, their calendar of events makes it seem like there's always a food truck available. So while the neighborhood of Millvale isn't exactly a garden spot, the care that Grist House has taken in providing a solid beer lineup with an inviting patio area to enjoy the brews, I'll likely try to talk Mama into making the hour-long trip again. Rating Scale: 1 - Just don't 2 - You'll survive, but there are better choices close by 3 - Solid choice if you're in the area 4 - I'd drive up to 30 minutes just to come here 5 - I'd try to convince my wife to drive an hour just to come here

The Grist House experience has definitely been upgraded. The new building is great. There is so much more space and I love the nice big bar. It's beautiful inside. The deck outside is great as well with lots of seating and space. Somehow even with more space it does seem to get pretty crowded, especially on the weekends but it's definitely better with more space. I like that they now have all of the merchandise (shirts, hats, etc) and the cans in the corner so you can look at everything. Just grab what you would like and take it up to the bar to pay. You can also still order online to simply come in and pick up your order which is nice, especially if you don't want to miss a release. They seem to generally have a pretty good selection on tap though I wish they had a dark beer on more often but that's my personal taste. They definitely have variety though where everyone should be able to find something they like. This is definitely one of my favorite breweries in Pittsburgh. It's a nice place to go hang out with a group and they typically have food trucks (plus Iron Born right around the corner). Most often we stop by when I see the announcement of a good release, especially when they do a barrel aged stout.

Loved Gristhouse prior to football season bc it loves my dog! However, the place is even more since game day started for PSU games. It's always a good time and they have indoor and outdoor space with decent tvs to catch you favorite team. They don't serve food but typically have one or two food trucks and you can bring in outside food from any local eatery! Typically, the staff is a great time; although this past week I waited 30 minutes to order even though three bartenders looked and walked right by me (typically they say one minute or something to acknowledge you but not this week). I won't hold it against them though unless it starts happening more frequently.

My favorite Gristhouse brews are typically the sours, but I've also surprisingly enjoyed pilsners and IPAs.

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.

Not pictured but you NEED to get a Cindy's Tea when you come here. They sell these in cans as well I always try and grab a pack if we don't bike here! Their crunch wrap is my favorite thing on their menu. If I'm not getting it as my meal I'm forcing it as a table shareable it is that good. Usually I just get their fries with it which is always yummy but this time I tried their mac and it was so delicious! The Chicken Caesar wrap was so good normally I think places never put enough dressing in them but this was perfectly dressed! We tried their Heirloom Tomato & Watermelon Salad and added chicken to it. Idk where I've been but watermelon on a salad?! AMAZING!!! I wouldn't take off or add anything else to this(except chicken clearly lol) it was so refreshing and light and perfect!

This is a little different as they are set up with toast where you scan the QR menu and place your order and then they bring the food or drink to your table. You don't really have a server per se. We came in on a Friday afternoon around 4 o'clock and it was pretty quiet. We chose to sit upstairs and ordered the season of the month chicken wings. It was sour cream and cheddar dry rub. We did get them well done and I'm glad we did because it did make them crunchy here although they still weren't all that crunchy. The dry rub was actually really good, but it was a little bit like eating Cheetos as when you took your fingers away they were covered in orange powder. My husband tried their wheat ale - the easy golden. It was okay, but a little hop forward for him. They did have a arsenal cider on tap so I chose that for my beverage.

So have you seen that meme out on the InterT00bZ that's like "Hey let's go to that new beer place…read morethey have $27 warm hazy IPAs in the middle of a parking lot?" Yeah, that's the vibe I was getting at Velum. There was a lot to like and a lot to not like about this place, so I'll start with the bad and end on a positive note. First off, it's in an old brewery and it looks like a warehouse. I'm not sure if they still brew their own beers but it straight up looks like an old warehouse. I've seen abandoned warehouses that look less like a warehouse than Velum. Maybe some people like that vibe but I felt like the cops were going to bust in and shut the party down like a teen coming-of-age movie. The taproom is all the way in the back, and so are the bathrooms, so if you break the magic circle, prepare to get your steps in. There's no kitchen. They DO partner with a food truck but they're getting their own review. I paid $10 for an average cocktail and $8 for a 12 oz cider that frankly wasn't that great. Either better drinks or bigger drinks, please. And everything is community seating. I don't hate the idea but I didn't care for the vibe so when I found a smaller table my friend and I grabbed it and boarded it. With that being said, there was a lot to like too. First off, we were there for a pinball night, and they have a great selection of pinball tables there, both classic and modern. I really would have liked information on joining a pinball league, but that wasn't offered anywhere that I could find. Plus on that particular night it was $10 for all-you-can-play, so we definitely got our money's worth there. The staff that I did interact with were super nice. That goes a long way and saved this from being a worse review. And the place is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for me. All in all, I had a decent night. But the question as always is if I'll go back. Unfortunately, probably not of my own accord. If there's another pinball event, I'll definitely go, but it's not going into my rotation of cool spots. Not every place is meant for me, and that's fine.
