Purchased a cap for our 2023 Jeep Gladiator in February 2026 with a passthrough window. What we received was a a cap minus the pass through. Called Recon as soon as item was unpacked and spoke to customer service advisor (Jan) who was surprised to learn there was no pass through. After reaching out to Agri Covers we were told by the Recon representative that they were not notified by Agri-Cover that the passthrough was no longer being made, apologized and said he would speak to the boss and get back to us. Every call or email would take a week or so to get a response, once we called again, Recon said they were working on solutions for us. Finally we were told they were going to get us a seal to make a temporary pass through as well as new panel would be made (in 3 months) to replace the one that arrived wrong. I paid a lot of money to doctor up a cap but said ok explaining that this purchase was specifically made due to a move that was now happening at the end of the month. I was assured that they would get something to us in time for the move, needless to say that did not happen and I had to get another vehicle to be able to have access to pets and contents taking on another expense to fix the problem of not receiving the correct cap. Again after the move and many emails and calls later (now March / April) On May 13th I was contacted via phone by Andrew the owner and was told he was now on it and I was told that a seal will be sent directly to my new address. That did not occur, seal was sent to old address, after multiple times of confirming that it would be sent to the updated address. Again contacting on June 3rd that Agri-cover shipped the seal to my previous address, Recon Recovery asked for one more shot, that the seal will be expressed to me. June 5th still no seal, contacted Andrew again asking for a refund because I feel enough is enough and I feel like I have given enough time to work with Recon Recovery. No reply. June 11th emailed Andrew again asking if he would stand by the refund as I had given one more chance. No reply, at this time I am filing with consumer affairs and the BBB. read more

I ordered a CHEVY truck cap from them in November; one of the clamps was broken (screw bent) so we asked for new ones, they have so far sent us new JEEP ones that don't fit, TWICE. It's mid Jan and our cap is still not fit properly due to their poor handling, and their customer service is useless, no solutions no support only "oh give us some time". Repulsive business practices. Ordered a roof top tent for a trip I was planning and chose recon recovery because they promised a quick delivery date. I contacted the company after purchasing the tent online and they told me I would receive the tent by the delivery date, assuring me that the tent would go out first thing. I explained that I needed the tent for my trip and that I needed to leave the day after the delivery date. The rep assured me "no problem." The delivery date comes and goes with no delivery. I delay my trip am extra day and still no tent. 2 days after the delivery date was supposed to occur I receive an email informing me that a label was printed for the tent and was going to be shipped. I emailed recon a number of times, to which their only reply is the tent is in transit and thanking me for my patience, which is absolutely condescending. I have few opportunities for vacation throughout the year and I've saved my money to purchase this tent with the hopes of experiencing something unique. Unfortunately, I've run out of time and my vacation is blown because I chose to put my trust in recon recovery; bad decision on my part. If their rep had simply said that delivery could take longer than expected I would have canceled the purchase and found another option. He clearly told me what I wanted to hear to maintain the sale, which was an empty promise. I'm not sure which is worse, being lied to or the condescending response to my emails. No ownership of mistakes, no solutions offered, just bad business practices being offered at recon recovery. read more

Before picking up my tent, I had a bunch of questions that they were able to answer quickly and professionally. If I could leave 10 stars I would. Called around all over Orange County trying to find someone who could install my truck cap (still was undecided which cap). Had a friendly convo with them on the phone and landed on the OVS truck cap for my tundra pro. Bought it on their site that day. Was quoted 600-650$ firm to install it from competitors like Rack Attack in Tustin which is a joke and honestly disgusting. Recon Recovery advised it was 250$ for install which was reasonable. They built it day before and took less than an hour to install. The experience going through them was refreshing. Recommend them highly and will go back there for all my needs. read more

This is a dishonest company with a dishonest sales staff. It is one thing to not have a product in stock when you advertise it to be so, it is another thing to lie and not cancel the order when requested (even when they said they would) and they claim they couldn't a full 20 days after the cancellation request was made. They then went on to promise (on a phone call that I recorded) to intercept the package - which they didn't - and then promise to refund my payment - which they didn't. So if you want to have to spend about 10 hours fighting for your money back for a product that didn't arrive on time, then by all means, order from these thieves. read more

My experience with recon recovery was horrible. I ordered a cap for my truck that arrived damaged and it took 7 weeks of being misled and lied to before I recieved my replacement. I was promised that the replacement would arrive in time for my upcoming canoe trip. After a week and a half of calling them and being told the cap shipped and I'd have the tracking information that afternoon I was told 2 days before my trip that my cap had in fact not shipped. Another month passed and I was repeatedly told by customer service that they would get to the bottom of the issue and call me back. I recieved 1 call back over the course of a month. Finally I was told the cap was on back order the whole time.. At this time I was able to talk to the owner of the company, a few hours later he was able to magically get a cap on the way after deflecting all the blame onto the manufacturer. On top of that I had to personally coordinate delivery of my pallet for both shipments because recon recovery couldn't get it to my house. Throughout the process nobody ever reached out to tell me what was going on and not one person was able to help me when I called them. In the end the owner of recon recovery did nothing to rectify the situation but did tell me I would be receiving $150 credit from the manufacturer, which I never got. Completely incompetent company and terrible customer service. Take your money somewhere else. read more

Ordered a truck topper on 5/12/24 based upon online listing saying the item was "in stock" and would be shipped shortly. They processed my credit card immediately. Six weeks later and multiple phone calls and emails later, I am told they do not have the product, not have they ever had it. They misrepresented the status of my order on numerous occasions. During the entire six weeks, the website still lists the item "in stock". If I could give a zero rating, I would. Poor customer service. read more
