Oh my goodness this place is a hidden gem. I went to one of these in the hood last time and it was like a missions trip over seas. God bless ass the homeless i met working their butts off to get by. It was heartbreaking. There were also 10,000 yellow jackets on full attack. This location was so easy. Drive to the front entrance of Costco and follow it around to the right to the back and you'll see the recycling facility. Well really it's 2 dudes, one weighing and handling the money and the other doing most of the dirty work. My 11 year old and I grabbed a couple of bins and separated cans and plastic bottles. They weighed them separately, printed out a receipt and paid us $42 for 1 1/2 bins of cans and 1 bin of plastic bottles. Easy. They are the center my club has used for years. Easy to get to and organized. I go every other Friday for my club. We collect cans and plastic. There are other people who take our recycling on other days. Over the last 6 or more years we have made $25,000. We use the money to pay for the needs of our fosters who care for our cats waiting to be adopted. read more

The attendant gave me baskets that were cut off at the top, shorter and lighter than the normal basket, when there were full baskets available. They subtracted the same weight which shaved off about $6 from actual value of the cans. What is the worst is that this was intentional. He took time to give me the ones with the tops cut off. read more

The guys that work here SUCK! Unreliable and definitely skimming somewhere. Have been here 2 times in the past 15 - 20 min after what' should have been working (open) hours and no one was here. Well today was the same situation I encountered last month and the month before that. Arrived just before 4pm and they're saying they're at capacity and closed. They will tell you they have no more room or any reason why they have already shut down. The level of customer service at this location is frigidly sub par registering a whopping -10 below 0. Consistent in 2 things: 1)horrible service levels and 2) adherence to operating hours. Guess it's time to remove the convenience factor of doing my CostCo shopping after unloading the recycle haul just a few feet away. Took in recycling and had 2 bins. First bin was 10 pounds, second one was 10.6. When they put the receipt in front of me to sign, it said 8.0 and 8.6. I told them it was incorrect and the guy said I my cans were full of water. I said 4 pounds of water? You guys are ripping me off. The guy told me to get the F outta here. After RePlanet closed near me, had to find another local recycling spot, pun intended. While this is a little further from me (it's behind Costco, past the auto/tire center), they're open every day (including Sundays!) and so far my first few trips have been relatively pain-free. There's two people working at a time (which is +1 than RePlanet) and they're pretty quick. You can turn in materials by count, and just need to separate them into bins (they use these interesting plastic/net bins that feel less grimy than the normal garbage bins) and they hand you cash right away. 5 stars because I appreciate the few dollars in CRV returned to me, so far have had great experiences, and it's open weekend! read more

Second time here with the same bags of plastic bottles, the first time there were 10 people waiting and a car stuffed to the brim with bags and I was here 5 min before they open. Here I am again 935am, 25 min before they open and 1 guy has 20 bags of recycling and 2 others in line as well. I'm starting to ask myself if it's with the hassle especially when you don't actually get the nickel for every cab or bottle you paid for. Just another way that the state fucks us. Recycling made so easy and convenient. The rules are simple: separate everything before you go to minimize the time there. I dump all my plastic in the Orange stretchy containers, the glass in the blue containers and hand over my few aluminum cans. They weight it, you sign the receipt, get cash and then go. I was taking my recycle here for years with the two brothers working there. It would be super hot and sweaty and they still hussle to get all done. I've learned to separate and make sure all are empty so it's quicker to put in the bins when gets there. I've never had a problem with them even long lines sucked but I would just come back different time or wait. I can't complain but if I see someone with 20 bags ahead of me I'm definitely not go I ng to wait. I went there about covid ending but the brothers were not there. The employee said they didn't call in and they are not home. And they never miss work. I was worried along with the owner because they both ride motorcycles and hope nothing happened. Haven't been back since. I hope they are there. If anyone knows please let me know. My son and I haven't seen them since. I have recycles and want to go back but I know tommorow Friday will be packed. So might wait till next week. But this review is a good one not being a recent customer. read more

Horrible experience! There are swarms of bees everywhere, parking is difficult, the employees not very helpful. The wait was 45 minutes for 2 bags of recycling, likely because other people cut in front and employees let them. They also underpay as noted in another review. read more

I'm wildly surprised if anyone complains about this recycling joint, considering I've seen a handful of places and usually they are cluttered or chaotic. This recycling area is in a spacious back portion of Costco and you're not driving over pieces of palettes or debris. What's fantastic about this place is that they actually PAY YOU at the location, rather than giving you a receipt or form to enter into a nearby supermarket in exchange for actual currency. It was kind of mind blowing (and a bit of a security risk?) that they pay on the spot, but the associate was using an iPad to tally the weight of my recyclables so I could not complain with the tech and efficiency. It seems most people spend a lot of time sorting or dividing up their recyclables so I was able to expedite my wait and immediately dump my segregated plastics and cans into the weighing bins. It was easy, fast, and I got $30 within 10 minutes of arriving. There was at least 6 people in the area but I'll advise again to separate your recyclables ahead of time so you do not end up wasting more time at the center. read more

Save yourself the hassle. I took glass, plastic and cans. They only took cans because they said their containers were full. So I asked when they can usually take plastic or glass and all they said is they can't guarantee a time when they will accept glass or plastic so you're stuck in a guessing game. Open during covid. I stopped by today to get some recycling done. The line went by quick! There were a couple of people ahead of me but I was done in less than 10 minutes. I definitely appreciate how quickly they managed things because other cycling centers take much longer. When I walked away I did feel like they paid me a bit light compared to what I was used to. read more

Read the reviews here before going in, and was prepared to get stung by bees, to be underpaid, and to have to wait a long time but none of those things happened. Didn't even see one bee lol. When i pulled up there was a pretty good line, but unlike replanet after about 5 or 10 minutes I had all the receptacles I needed for my many cans, and by the time I emptied them all into the receptacles it was my turn to go. The 2 workers there were very fast, nice & easy to deal with. Also for the amount of bags of cans I had, i don't think I was underpaid, it was a just as good of a return or better than i got from replanet, so yes recommended this spot is. read more

I've been recycling my plastic water bottles and my aluminum cans for years. Matter of fact, I do so much recycling that I decided to buy 55 gallon water drums that have the tops cut off so I'm able to store my recycles unit I'm ready to bring them in to be recycled. I didn't start recycling for the money, I did it for fun and it kinda just became a hobby of mine. I live in lake forest and I've been driving all the way to Santa Ana where I've been doing my recycling for years. Since I've been using these 55 gallon drums I've gotten really good at estimating the total weight of my plastics and my aluminum cans. My father and I actually make a game out of it. We make predictions of the weight and we see how far off we are. We've been Doing this method the same way year after year. The point is, I can tell you exactly how much recyclables I have before they are weighed. Today I didn't feel like driving all the way to Santa Ana so I decided to give this place a try. I'm always at this Costco in Irvine anyways. Well, my father and I made our normal predictions like we always did and I was extremely shock on how WRONG we both were. This place shorted us so much!! I'm not even joking. It's actually pretty ridiculous. They shorted us a solid $40 For how much plastic bottles we brought this day. Also Take a look at the receipt that I've included. The guy entered 2 of the weights twice ( which of course were low #'s) I've circled those on the receipts for you. And the underlined high # he only entered once of coarse. I'm telling you straight up, none of these numbers should be the same, but this guy is telling me 2 of them are the same? Bullshit.. then when I question them about it they just played dumb like they don't speak English anymore. I'm sick of dishonest places like this. Don't go here read more
