The location was excellent. It's located on the second story of a market/commercial building, so there's tons of free parking. There's an escalator that goes to the second floor, along with a staircase. I didn't see a ramp, but I wasn't looking for one. The outside seating area is open and covered by one of those unfinished "barn" structures. It was a beautiful day, and it helped shade us from the sun. The customer service was fantastic. They were kind/fast/and helpful (I asked for more water and it was immediate). All of that is worth the three stars. The missing two is because of the food. I got the vegetable potato plate and my husband got an omelet. It's possible that these are not traditional/most gone for plates. But these were: bland. Brat diet bland. I don't smoke and have sensitive taste buds and I tasted no seasoning. None. I ate the eggs and vegetables with a fair amount of salt and Tabasco. My husband ate his omelet but we both left the bulk of the potatoes because they were tasteless except for the crispy/overcooked parts. All in all, I would not pay for this plate again. I did not complain or ask for something else bc: COVID. it's possible that this is due to limited seasonings/help/ or some other covid related supply issue. The coffee and cappuccino was Dennys coffee, so I wasn't able to enjoy it as I was sober. My husband used 5 creamers and all of the sugar packets to add taste, that wasn't bitter water. Again, I'm sure people don't go here for the coffee. I might go for a juice if I went again. The portions were large. Like huge. So, if you go for quantity: this is for you! I wanted to like this. But I did not. If you are from out of town and looking for flavor this might not be your spot. If you are looking to fill up and can do without seasoning-this is your space. Nice place. Plenty of outdoor seating with a good distance from other tables and a nice view, and lots of benches in the general area if you find yourself waiting for a table. But, I went on Saturday at noon and while there were plenty of people, there were still a few tables left to seat new arrivals immediately. Food portions are extremely generous, definitely two full meals worth unless you're a 200lb linebacker, so considering that the prices are pretty reasonable. I got the bacon omlette with avocado and found it a little underseasoned (not sure what would have helped, onion powder? Red pepper flakes? Herbs of some kind?), but the potatoes were excellent. My partner also got the apple crumble french toast, which was very sweet and had the interesting addition of a corn flake coating to make it crunchy. All in all a good place, will be back. read more

In town for a wrestling tourney, went on Yelp to look for a lunch spot... Way to go Yelp, you haven't disappointed us yet! Tucked away in the upper level of Deer Park shopping is a great b'fast and lunch spot. Too cold for outdoor seating, but plenty available when its warm enough. We had the fish sandwich and the French dip, both were great. Blue cheese dressing was homemade, the fries were seasoned and cooked perfectly. The fish was mahi mahi and was not greasy at all. Servers were friendly, and the food was delivered promptly. Will definitely come back when in town again. read more

Just, like many, meat is just well cooked - without anything else, meat doesn't have much flavor. Lots on the menu is what you would expect to find. Many of the staff genuinely pleasant. Big outdoor area for service eating or can even bring your own chair or blanket to sit far away in a grassy area. Came here for brunch after having a spa morning with my friends. As expected for Sunday mornings, there was a bit of a wait but it didn't take too long since there was only three of us. We got seated outdoors which was really nice with the sun shining. People also could bring their dogs if they sat outdoors so there was all these adorable dogs at the tables around us. There wasn't much of a wait time for the food despite the business of the place. I got the Spanish omelet which was really good and packed with flavor. It can be a long wait on the weekends so come as early as you can. Got to the place at 10:30am and waited about 25 minutes for a table. Ordered myself a Veggie Omelet with potatoes & toast. Yummy! Healthy and filling for sure. The potatoes are AMAZING. Love how they season them. So mouthwarming! I am drooling over those potatoes while writing this review HAH. My partner ordered an Artichoke Pesto omelet which was also delicious! Then we also got a side of 6 baby cakes. So cute! But they were on the salty side. My husband and I had a lovely weekday champagne brunch at Red Apple today. Perfect time to go if you can. No wait for a table and food arrived hot and delicious. We both had eggs Benedict, a traditional and crab cakes with avocado. Both were perfect. The eggs were cooked medium, by request, still soft but not too soft. Ever since I received an uncooked egg white at another local restaurant I order poached eggs medium. Plenty of hollandaise sauce and crispy home fries on the side. So she decides that an approach full of attitude is best say "WELL IM HERE" and "UM DID YOU READ THE SIGN?" With a very belittling tone as if I already didn't see it. I'm an Aptos local, and have brought my family to eat here at least a dozen times in the last year. The last 2 times we've been there we've had very bad experiences, and this last time was the last straw. The second to last time we were there (mid March) they served half of our food out cold, including my wife's pancakes. My benedict had been sitting under the heatlamp way too long, and the eggs were hard when they finally brought them out. This last time we went for Father's day, and I know they are busy on this day. That's fine, we anticipated a moderate wait. But after being seated and given menus, we waited for 25 minutes before finally deciding to leave. During that time, 3 other tables had been seated after us and given drinks. The waitress kept flying by us telling us it would be "just a minute". After the third table after us got seated and got their coffee & water right away, I was done. I am done giving this place my business. Their food is OK, but isn't better than any other breakfast place in the area. We ended up going to the Crepe Place for a late brunch and had a wonderful time. read more

We were regular customers( family of four). Food was great sometimes and sometimes horrible. Our past experience was just aweful. It was my bday weekend and we decided to get a take out from there. We called in advance and I've been in the US for 20 years. My accent is a light European accent. I had never a problem with anyone ever understanding me. The hostess taking my order said to me that she can't understand anything I was saying! Anything! I handed a phone to my husband and he asked her if she can recommend kids meal that was meat free, she responded: I am too busy to read the whole menu for you!!!! We did not asked her to do that. We decided to inform a manager that we were treated poorly and won't be back. The manager gave no apology, just smiled and said: ok. I am in shock. We lived in different states, different countries, but this kind of treatment is inhumane. I hope that other people will stop supporting business like that. read more

Sad to write this. As a life long Aptos resident my experience today with Red Apple just upsets me as I've always enjoyed the place prior. I ordered food to go was told 15 minutes. They were friendly on the phone and helped me remember my favorite item on the menu. Drove over and thats when I just don't understand what happened. They have two lines posted outside. One to get seated one to pick up food. So I stood in the pick up. One employee said "someone will be with you in a moment" as she passed by. For the next ten minutes I stood like an idiot while employee after employee walked past me. I even got a funny look from a table wondering the same thing as I was. Why is he (I) still standing there. About 80% of the tables were filled and I can guess that this is busy for them. Not really the issue. In fact even still standing there 30 minutes after placing my order not the biggest issue. It was literally just being completely ignored. So I left realizing that my small order was not important enough for them. Went to another local Aptos place and was helped quickly and had great food. Quite honestly would of let it all go there until I get a phone call from them upon their closing telling me my omelette from hours ago is still there. I told the lady on the phone what happened and instead of just simply apologizing as really it wasn't an issue to me anymore she doubled down on poor customer service saying her and spoke there and I told her someone had already helped me. Now I have no idea how she knows who she called and how she knows this person she spoke to was me. Or if she was the one that told me someone would be with me how she now believes she asked if I need help and I told her I didn't. But either way. WTH? She then decides to try and triple down and great representation of Red Apple by saying "well I guess we both will go hungry". Um... well, first no one of isn't anymore because other places have better service. And no secondly, I feel compelled to write this after having moved on completely with my day. Growing up in the Aptos area I used to eat at this restaurant a lot and have very fond memories of breakfasts there with friends and family. Sadly that was 20 years ago. I went there about 2 months ago with my parents, very excited to have their food again after not having eaten there for so long. Firstly the kitchen refused to make a very simple substitution on my eggs Benedict even after being assured by the waitress that it wouldn't be a problem. I was annoyed but not too mad at that point. What really spurred me to write this review is what happened after. That is that our food (for 3 people) took an ABSURDLY long time to come out. Did they have to go and get our eggs from the actual chicken?? I've been to probably hundreds of other breakfast places in my life, both good and bad, and have NEVER had food take so long to come out. In the end we were there for about an hour and a half. I felt very bad for the waitress because she was very sweet and apologetic so we still left her a good tip but the rest of the experience was pretty terrible. When the food finally came it was decent but did not make up for anything. So sad to see how far this Aptos institution has fallen. read more
