Very rare find. Definitely a mom & pop diner or stall I say mom & daughter. Very hard working and still serve your food with a smile and a hot plate of yummy freshly made breakfast/brunch. Very affordable and it's great to see a place like this booming with business so make sure you get in line asap. Seating at the table top or a few tables to choose from. IMHO This is a cute locals favorite, right around the corner from Gayle's. IYKYK They're open for breakfast and lunch from 7 - 2:15. The owner/proprietor (I think) warmly greeted us and told us to choose our table. There are about 8 tables in this cozy establishment, or you can sit at the counter and watch the Cook cook! We were lured here by the reviews of the hash browns. I am not an afficionado of hash browns, I just know what I like. I expect my hash browns to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and not greasy. These fit the bill! Super yummy! My husband and I shared the "three extra-large ranch eggs any style with hash browns and English muffin, and choice of bacon, sausage or ham" for $17.95. I opted for scrambled eggs, and bacon. Normally I'd eat fried eggs, but I only eat those when I'm staying at home. Again, IYKYK. My eggs were a tad rubbery, but I ate 'em. The four pieces of bacon were thick and flavorful! You already know the hashbrowns were my favorite on the plate! This plate's portion was perfect for the two of us! We certainly got bang for our buck! Our friends ordered the Popeye omelet; spinach, onion & cheese, with mushrooms added, $17.95, and the Strawberry French Toast special. Suffice it to say, they cleaned their plates as well. Nothing trendy here- just good ol' American breakfast cozy vibes. Service is top notch and you're always greeted with a family friendly smile. Found this place in Yelp and it did NOT disappoint! It is one of the cutest little restaurants I've been to. Service was amazing and the food was stellar. At our table we had the almond and banana waffle, cinnamon French toast and biscuits and gravy meal. All were amazing. We will be back the next time we're in town! read more

Do yourself a favor and eat some where else. The smoke from cooking the food is overwhelming and it's not particularly clean. The breakfast for the price is not great. Used to be great - kinda going downhill lately though. The last few times I've been there I've run into flies in the ice (twice btw, which means their machine is prob dirty) and they served us rotten ketchup that smelled awful and was clearly well past expiration. It was so old and in the sun that the vinegar had started to separate. Also the prices just keep climbing and climbing. To the point we've decided to go to other places when we go out for breakfast now. Think an omelette with a few ingredients and hash browns was about $20 last time we were here. The service is still not bad and the food is tasty, if a bit pedestrian for the price. Shame cause this place is a staple of the area and we used to go here all the time for a quick and cheap breakfast. But now we all go 'meh remember the last few times...' and go somewhere else these days. read more

Just paid 18.95 for the worst chicken fried steak breakfast I have ever had. Some kind of out of the box frozen meat type substance. 18.95 is a lot for a breakfast entree, so I expected it to be made in house, alas they are charging exorbitant money for frozen crap. read more

I'm giving this four stars for one simple reason. This is exactly what you want in a small mom & pop diner. (I think this is a mom and daughter duo) Everything done on a flat grill with lots of melted butter. Fresh fruit and neverending coffee. The Mom and daughter hustling to cover a large amount of people was impressive. One cook, one dishwasher. There was a wait for a table, and a wait for the food, but we didn't mind. read more

I'm almost hesitant to post this because I don't want this gem to get bombarded but this is THE BEST breakfast place in town!! It doesn't look like much driving by or when you walk in but it's the feeling I get when I'm there. It has an "old school" feel to it. It's cozy and the staff is beyond friendly. Carol, the owner, and her daughter or always there and they're are the best. The food is always great!!! I miss being able to go in and sit down to eat and hanging out there. They're still open for pickup and I believe they now have some outdoor seating. read more

If I could add 10 more stars I would. Since I've been coming here to capitola for the past 8 years now, the cook house was my First introduction to what a mom n pop cafe is. And I love it. It's a support for local business. They have the best attitude the best atmosphere. The best cook and service. What's great is that it's simple. Breakfast is always good. Lunch is always good. Our favorite is the Chicken Fried Steak. Highly suggest it. We bring all family and friends here. I highly recommend visiting the cook house for breakfast and lunch when you visit capitola. Great spot for Breakfast! Popped in twice while visiting my mom who lives nearby. Everything was delicious, well prepared and the staff treated us like family from the get go. Incredibly reasonably priced given the quality. The owner had some time on our second visit to sit and chat with us for a bit. We will definitely return on our next visit. read more

I just got turned off by the unsanitary cooking conditions! The lady that is cooking is also on the phone AND touching money AND clearing people's used plates at the counter....and then turns around and grabs omelette ingredients and plates almost every food item with her bare (now dirty) hands. Her hair isn't tied back either. Gross. Don't think I'll be back. I think the staff needs a refresher course of proper food handling. I will say that the waitress was super sweet and friendly. read more

We wanted waffles so we called up before we got there and they said they had waffles. Well, I don't know what Belgium waffles are and these were not. They were very thin and dry and we couldn't even cut them easily with our knife. We didn't care for the coffee. My wife couldn't get her walker into the bathroom. Bed was great, shower had great water pressure and the continental breakfast was top notch and delivered to your room at your requested time. When we checked in the woman was taking care of caterpillars in the office to help breed the monarch population. She showed us what they're doing to help. It was a really cool thing to see! She even put a butterfly on my finger. She took us to the room while explaining the history of the place as well. Very cool spot. Highly recommend!

It's a historical building so there is no AC but fans are provided. The Inn has a trail to the ocean with has nice views. It is dog friendly which is the main reason we stay here. The property manger is super friendly and helpful. I think she is the reason the Inn has great reviews.
