We ordered take-out on our way home from Boulder-Creek. We were really craving breakfast but didn't want that generic breakfast taste that large restaurant chains give out. Luckily we found Bella's and it was exactly what we hoped for. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it was very spacious, lots of indoor seating and a bar area. I ordered my food on person, the gentleman who helped me was so nice and attentive. Ordering was easy, the food was very well priced and when we picked up our order we saw we had gotten a lot more than we expected. We ordered the eggs, pancakes, bacon, French toast and sausage. Everything was perfectly cooked, the French toast was to die for! My 2 kids really enjoyed their food I didn't even get a chance to take a pictures. Highly recommend you won't be disappointed. I am really sorry to be writing this review. I was really excited to have a good time and eat some good homemade food. The place was cute and looked welcoming from the outside. While the food was homemade, it took a long time almost 40min for two chicken pesto sandwiches, a patty melt and a burger. The bun was included on a meal that asked for NO bun. The side salad was lettuce and tomatoes that's all. Ranch was brough instead of Vinigrette. Our water glasses sat empty for a long time. The waitress nails are not code approved. The place was not packed. There were people that looked like regulars at the counter. As i sat waiting, I looked past my friends and tried to get an idea of the ambiance however with years of spiderwebs, dirt caked light switches, dark washing areas but open to be seen was not really giving me the ambience I think the place wanted. Bella's Café has a quaint, relaxed atmosphere offering indoor and outdoor seating. They serve breakfast, burgers, salads and sandwiches. Breakfast items are served until they close at 2 pm. For lunch, we chose two breakfast selections - their California Omelet and Bella's Breakfast Bacon and Eggs. The California Omelet was quite sizeable. It consists of three large eggs, stuffed with avocado, tomato, bacon, garlic, and cheese. There was no skimping on ingredients, and every bite was enjoyed. The omelet is served with one's choice of home fries or hashbrowns and a choice of wheat, sourdough or rye toast, or an English muffin. If desired, one may substitute a cup of fresh fruit in lieu of the potatoes for a small extra charge. Bella's Breakfast Bacon and Eggs is two eggs prepared your way, with three slices of bacon, choice of potatoes, and toast. All was excellent. Came into town to look at the lodge near by, they are cash only! Regardless the same man sat us, took our order and made our food his service was so quick and he was amazing. The hostess/waitstaff greeted us and seated us right away. She got our drink order and served it to us very quickly. She gave us a few moments to look everything over and then took our order. The food was delivered fast and was very fresh and delicious. I ordered the mixer omelet and my friend ordered the huevos rancheros. Both were served hot and beautifully plated. Very outdated place needs a complete remodel and new color inside paint job, everything boring white paint with electric chords showing on side walls. Needs blue or green decor inside or some plants in the hot patio. I don't think the place has AC? When we went at 1 30 PM they had just one person doing everything. The food was so so. The worst was the water had a terrible chlorine taste could not drink It. Time for them to change their filter if they even have one. The breakfast we had was semi ok but the meat sausage was just a big hot dog type thing and split down the middle, was cheap bad tasting, should serve little link type ones. The owner I think has another place in Santa Cruz. May try again if they ever can remodel. Bella's Cafe could be turned into a much needed burger/hot dog /meat loaf type comfort food milk shake destination in Boulder Creek now that 'Fosters' has closed as the they have a old 1940 type lunch counter that needs some care these days. read more

Deliciousness! As we walked up, a woman was coming out of the restaurant and said, "oh the food is so good here!" She was right! The owner is so nice too. The hubby and I split a chicken pesto sandwich with a side of home fries. Everything was freshly prepared, including the pesto, and came out pretty quickly off the grill. They even split it for us, which was kind of them. Apparently they have a great breakfast too, so we're coming back in the morning for that. read more

I'm rating this 1 star for the horrible service. I work a block away and I stopped in here for a cup of coffee before my shift. All but 1 of the tables was empty, so I sat at a window table. A guy came in after me and was served before me. Excuse me? You only have 3 customers. I ordered my coffee. It was just regular coffee, like the $1 coffee at McDs. I only had 1 cup, since I was not offered a refill. When I got the bill, it was for just under $5! The waitress got snippy with me when I questioned the amount for a single cup of coffee. I saw the food the other gentleman ordered. it looked okay, not overly generous for the price. I'm used to better service, generous portions, and reasonable prices at our other local eateries. If there were another sit-down diner-type breakfast spot in Boulder creek, I doubt they would stay in business. I went in once and they said they were out of bacon...there are two grocery stores across the street, no excuse to not have the basics guys, come on! (I don't even eat bacon, it's just the concept). What a bummer. My meal today was only excellent instead of phenomenal. The first time I went to Bella's it was the best meal I have had all year, and the best meal I have had in the San Lorenzo Valley EVER! This time is was only in the top five meals of the year, and only the second best meal I have ever had in the San Lorenzo Valley (because the first meal was the best). I am a big fan of Cowboy Grill in Felton, but Bella's beats them hands down. When I went to Bella's a few weeks ago, I had to decide between a breakfast item and a lunch item. I ended up going with the Pesto & Cheeseburger. it was AMAZING!!! Everything was so perfect it is had to describe. Great balance of flavor between pesto, garlic, cheese and beef. It was served with a nice side of home fries. YUM! I went back today, and tried the Huevos Rancheros. It was excellent. A crisp corn tortilla covered with delicious tender beans, grilled peppers, cheese, an incredible ranchero sauce, and an egg cooked perfectly with the white solid and a yolk that spilled out everywhere as soon as it was nicked. They really don't care about customer satisfaction. There were four of us and we had an empty table but a seat was missing. Although they could add an empty seat to our table, they said it was not relevant to us. When they put the coffee and cake on the table they behaved very badly and put the coffee on the table rudely. Currently salivating just thinking about the wonderful culinary experience we had the good fortune of having while in little Boulder Creek, thanks to this unassuming, friendly spot! Not quite sure where to begin, as everything was outstanding. Upon entering we were promptly greeted and seated. The interior is tastefully decorated, spacious (good space between tables and a large room), well ventilated (we came late morning on a Sunday and it was quite warm and sunny out, but no mugginess or stuffiness inside!), and had the cozy, homey feeling to it that adds just that much more to a breakfast/brunch place. Our food came pretty quickly, without much time between getting plates (no awkward waiting till the other person gets their dish). I had the eggs Benedict which were an absolute delight. The hollandaise was creamy, rich, colorful. The crisp ham can't be beat. One egg had a bit of a stiff yolk but the other flowed perfectly. Toasted English muffins on the bottom were a little soggy by the time i got to eating, but everything else more than made up for it. My girlfriend had the feta basil scramble and she loved it. Her fruit was also so ripe and fresh and cool, and had a good balance of different fruits. After polishing our plates, we dove into the French toast and enjoyed every last bit of it...MMM. Not drenched in sugar, crisp exterior with a softer, fluffier interior, and perfectly filling and satisfying. The only minor downside is that their bathrooms are tiny!! My girlfriend actually had to put effort into orienting herself in the right way to use the toilet (and she is of normal weight and is like 5' 4"!). Men's room was a similar experience. I think it comes from the building being . It'd be great if the owners looked into building out the bathrooms. Great bathrooms can really make or break an experience if the food isn't fantastic. Our waiter also had a great energy about him, smiled a lot, checked on us a lot, and overall took good care of us and our food and needs. The wait staff is friendly, but the owner/cook has a flip side to a toxic attitude where he becomes rude. Food preparation is a hit or miss. The issue is generally overcooked or incorrectly prepared components. (Not the first time with this issue.) When specials are $18, add eggs $3.00, add coffee $2.00. So, $23.00 plus tip x2 if a guest is with you have a $60.00 bill. Getting bad food from a cook with a bad attitude is not what I want to spend my hard earned money on. read more
