I had no complaints with the food or service... We had omelets, hashbrowns, country fried steak, pancakes, and gravy - all had great taste. The service was outstanding, our waitress was very pleasant and kept our drinks refilled. The restraunt is in an older previous restraunt around awhile, but it was clean and well maintained. I was excited to try out Red Apple Cafe and they did not disappoint! Service was great, and they were bumping on this Saturday morning for our party of 11. The staff were so nice and helpful. The food was delicious and we all enjoyed our breakfast. I learned that there is a room and if it's available you can make a reservation for your group. This was our first visit here. We made a reservation for a party of 12. The team did a nice job of accommodating our party in a side room. This facility is a little dated in appearance though the place is clean. The host and waitress staff hustle to get you seated and served. The waitress was very friendly and did her best to serve our large group - well done! For lunch I had the tenderloin dinner. This is apparently very different from the tenderloin sandwich. The dinner came with two sides. I choose the Cole slaw and side salad. The Cole slaw was very good - nice and fresh and creamy. Definitely recommend. The salad was a nice size and very fresh as well. It had a nice compliment of side vegetables along with the lettuce base. It also had a nice amount of shredded cheese on top. The honey mustard dressing was probably purchased as it was thick, dark and a bit tart. It didn't pour very easily on the salad. The tenderloin was very good. It was moderately thin without being beat to thin. The breading was also moderately thick without being too thick. The breading was not overly greasy and had a small amount of flavor/spice. The waitress warned me that the tenderloin came with a brown gravy - not what I was expecting. I said no to that. I asked for the regular type of toppings - all of which were fresh and ample for the size of patty. They don't have horseradish - a little odd for a tenderloin. Met with My mom and sister. Arrived and was seated in a as requested comfortable table and chairs. The parking was Handicap accessible. The waitress KYA greeted us and took drink orders. There were a few tables open. Seemed like a nice place. Got our drinks and looked over the menu. We ordered 1 omelet, 1 skillet and 1 waffle. After waiting over 45 minutes we were getting restless. We told them we didn't have time to wait any longer. They presented us with a bill for food that they still didn't have ready. I paid the $44.44 and said I find it wild that you would charge me for food that we waited almost an hour for and you never brought. They basically just blinked and stared. Breakfast was good. Service was great! Servers were super nice and coffee was flowing!They were very busy but food came quickly. It's a clean place. The reason for not giving 5 stars is because the syrup dispensers need to be replaced! The top came off and syrup went all over our clothes and table. It was a huge mess! Once in a great while you find a diamond of a small restaurant. On Christmas the wife and I scoured Muncie and Anderson for somewhere to have an early Christmas Dinner. Were almost ready to give up when we found out that the Red Apple was open. We went in and the girl at the check out said they just closed the dining room for dinners but we could still get something for take out. I smiled and said that was OK but we decided to just go home a get something instead. She them smiled and "Oh come on in we can bend the rules' We ordered dinner I had a Top Sirloin Steak and a Garden Salad and Cottage Cheese. My wife had tenderloin and a salad. First of all I have had great sirloin steaks all over the place. But the ones they serve at the Red Apple makes all them taste like ground round, and I really mean it. Better than Texas Roadhouse, Outback or Amazing Joe's. I love those places but sorry about that guys it is true. Quality of food, hospitality of the staff and price was all perfect. The salad was crisp, cold and fresh. The tenderloin was perfect as well. The milk was ice cold and the cottage cheese was great also. They even had vinegar and oil dressing for my salad an French dressing for my wife. The waitress was extremely attentive and friendly. She made certain our meals were exactly as we ordered. Her initial kindness on allowing us to come in after they " closed" shows that there are still some businesses out there that take care of their customers. This is our new to go place for dinner. Don't let the big chain steakhouses fool you. The smaller places have a great deal to offer. read more

The Red Apple is one of the best home-style cooking restaurant in Muncie! We go for breakfast a lot but since they have extended their hours to include dinner we go more often. The husband and wife team owners will do anything to please. They had lasagna one night as the dinner special and I was amazed. I'm Italian by birth and very picky. I would run to have it again. This is my favorite breakfast spot in town. The food is always great and the service is fast and the prices are good. However, today I almost left because of the 3 gals in the dining room only the one wearing the shield was wearing it correctly. Our server was wearing her mask under her nose. I said something to my friend about the servers not wearing their masks right and our server must have heard me because she popped it right back where it was supposed to be. But the cashier had her mask under her chin and that upsets me. Everybody else came in with masks on, took them off to eat and then put them right back on to pay and leave. I don't think I'll be eating in that dining room again until this thing is over and done with. read more

I live right behind this cafe. Figured since they were opening up right next to Sunshine Cafe you'd expect they are competing with them. Pft, okay, the fact that they close literally during the day is a HUGGEE turnoff for me. You open up a breakfast AND dinner cafe but only open till 3pm? This town is FILLED with college students, me included, when exactly am I gonna have the time to come in BEFORE 3pm??? College students don't even eat breakfast on time for it to be considered breakfast time, why? Because if you're smart you have your classes done in the morning. The one weekend I wanted breakfast I wanted to go to Sunshine, but my friend wanted to go here..never again. Our food took SOOOOO long, our waiter seemed to be clueless when we asked her questions about the menu and when we FINALLY got our food, IT WAS ALL COLD. Never again. The service was ok and the staff seemed to work together well, but we had to ask a couple times for extra napkins. We ordered the Pretzel Bites which had perfect texture and were served with a Honey Mustard and Cheddar Cheese. I think it would have given them so much more flavor with a Jalapeño Cheese. I have to admit they were probably the best thing we tried. I ordered the Chef Salad and it was quite bland other than the overpowering large pieces of White Onion and Green Pepper. The Tomato, Boiled Egg, and Turkey had no flavor. I also tried a side of Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. The Mashed Potatoes are instant and the Gravy was like a Vegetable Beef which just wasn't my taste. My husband ordered Biscuits and Gravy with Over Medium Eggs, Hashbrowns and Sausage Patties. He said that he enjoyed his breakfast, but the Sausage Patties tasted like "Po Folks" generic brand. Great new place to get a awesome breakfast. Dinner hours are longer on Friday and Saturday so come on in for their super French Onion soup. I have two adult boys who eat like horses and we can get out of here for about $45; with soups. The Hot Sandwiches are Manhattans; beef, turkey and more. Sandwich and specials are abundant. I always try and eat at local restaurants and breakfast is one of my favorite meals. So, Red Apple Cafe fits the bill and I decided to give it a try. I could could tell that it definitely had an Apple theme when I walked in. Red everywhere and the scent of apples filled the air. I was quickly seat, my drink order taken, allowing me enough time to look over the menu. I decided on the corned beef hash skillet and waited for the magic to happen. I should have known something was amiss when my coffee arrived. The red mug should have been warning enough to not drink it. It smelled stale and when I took a sip, it tasted as if the staff had just poured hot water through a filter of dirt. (Pushing coffee aside and drinking the water instead) my meal came and it looked pretty good. It tasted okay so I still had hope. Unfortunately, the couple behind me decided to watch videos on their phones and had the volume loud enough to cause the Flores and walls to shake. (Not really but loud enough for me to hear and not be able to hear much more) I ate part of my meal, grabbed my check, went to pay. The staff member who took my money didn't say a word to me and only spoke after I told them to have a nice day. Fast forward a couple of hours when I get home. I pulled in to my drive and had the sudden urge to go to the bathroom. A pretty normal occurrence except for the fact I had to sit there for awhile. Yup.... you guessed it. I won't go in to the gruesome details. It let's just say I am writing this review as I am taking my third break on the proverbial throne. I will be calling the restaurant and letting them know but in the meantime, I recommend everyone avoid Red Apple Cafe. Your derrière will thank you. read more

It was just Ok! I ordered the country omelet, home fries, rye toast and Kelle had 2 eggs over easy, bacon, hash browns with toast. The food didn't look that nice. The potatoes were over cooked and our toast was cold with a small smear of unmelted butter in th middle and the bacon dry and not fresh. I will not be back. read more

My daughter and I dropped in for a quick lunch, I must say the Italian wrap was the best I had ever had! It was grilled with ham, turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato with an Italian dressing which I had switched out for ranch. The ingredients were diced so with each bite you had a taste of everything. Absolute worst service I've ever experienced. We stood waiting for about 10 minutes with nobody saying anything to us. We got seated and ordered our drinks and food. Sat for about 15-20 minutes and our food came out but we had not gotten our drinks yet. Our food was cold. Drinks finally came about 5 minutes after we got our food. Our waitress never came back to our table. It was the other servers giving us our food and drinks. I will not be coming back. read more
