We stopped in for breakfast on Saturday 6/21/25, which is off-season for college students, so it was pretty quiet. The service was super-friendly, the food was amazing! Cooked fresh & very tasty. I had the ham & cheese omelette and an iced coffee, my wife had bacon, eggs & toast. The atmosphere is very cool, sort of modern-hippie. The outdoors seating in mid-morning was beautiful. But I went to go get a breakfast sandwich this morning and after paying $11 for just the sandwich, it was the wrong type of bagel and the bacon was burnt so bad that it wasn't even tasteful. if you're gonna charge $11 for a sandwich, you should make sure that it's $11 worth. Cute coffee shop right on Ball State campus. Wasn't feeling Starbucks so I ventured out to try something different. So many options and it's got a hippy/chill feel to it along with fun decor. The dirty hippy, which is their spiced chai with espresso was so good and it's about the same price as Starbucks. But this chai is so much better. The staff was nice and patient with me while I decided on a pastry or sandwich to accompany my drink. They have Wi-Fi which was great because the Wi-Fi on campus was out. Not only do you NOT bring food or drinks to your customers' tables (which would be the service you're tipping for), the workers are RUDE and openly criticize you when you can't tip another 20% on your $10 coffee order. I like their iced vanilla dirty hippies and moonrise sandwiches- otherwise, the staff/owner are rude and the atmosphere is uninviting. I've been treated poorly and have seen other customers be treated poorly. Coffee shops are for eating/drinking and studying, relaxing, socializing, working, etc. but god forbid you wait to order until your friend arrives or you take up space for too long. They'll make you leave. I'd honestly love if we'd all agree to boycott because they are just mean people. I worked in food service for years and understand how difficult it can be dealing with customers and I don't expect fake kindness and "customer is always right" energy but gosh- just be decent humans and talk to people how you would like to be spoken to. read more

The MT Cup used to be the spot to hang out in Muncie with friendly service, chatty customers, and good bagels and coffee. I stopped there today with my kids who had a bubble tea from another place (they're 4 and 6 and don't drink coffee). The rude chick opened a window to tell my young children they couldn't have outside food and drink. Ok, I'm inside ordering food and drink anyway. The rude, meth smoker looking dude at the counter couldn't be bothered to tell me what kinds of bagels they have and their menus are bits and pieces all over the walls and counters. Zero friendly service. Then, he brought our bagels out and promptly told us we can't eat there because my kids have their bubble teas. Perhaps bringing back some sort of friendliness and ability to be a decent f@cking establishment would bring more customers to your spot? It's been a while since I've been here and I can say I haven't missed out, and won't be back. If you're looking for some meth or a cup of convenience store coffee, give them a try. Honestly it was ok, but a good place to come if you have a break between classes and need that caffeine boost or a bite to eat. I love that you can find Nitro coffee here! There is actually a pretty extensive list of coffee options for being a smaller local college coffee cafe. I appreciated that I could arrive here early on a Sunday morning and pick up a coffee before church, The Cup is the only option for coffee on Sunday morning besides Starbucks. The Nitro comes is a 16 oz cup for $4. It's good, not as "creamy" as some of the other Nitros I've tasted but it was good to hit the spot and might be the only place you can get it in Muncie. I'd like to spot by here at another time and try their food and other drink options as well. read more

I love The Cup. I've been coming here for years. My favorite part is the atmosphere. The coffee is great. Try their most popular drink, the dirty hippie. The food is pretty good too, depending on who makes it. There's one thing that's really been bothering me lately though. They are ALWAYS out of ham. They have their patio open, and my dad and I went to get some coffee, although we had gotten food from a different place in the village. before we had even had a chance to get coffee a man came out yelling at us about how we couldn't sit there because we were in a restaurant. The staff is incredibly rude. This IS customer service. I asked questions about the coffee, ingredients and the procedures and the staff treated me like I was being an inconvenience to them. I worked in coffee for years, when I asked questions the barista was very snide. The only reason this coffee shop is standing is because it's on a college campus. The coffee is short from lack luster and the staff is horrible. Attitude is contagious and I could see that resonating from staff member to staff member. And attitude can make or break someone's day. A convenient spot to sit down and grab a coffee. Selection is fine and reasonably priced however the food is over priced and not worth it. Could be a pleasant spot to relax on the front patio however the owners and staff like to sit out front and smoke. For non smokers eating food or simply trying to relax in the fresh air is a big put off. Cater to the customer first and do not spoil the environment. If you need to smoke go to a location away from customers. If you correct this the establishment will increase with more popularity. read more
