Very disappointed my sangria tasted like fruit punch with cheap tequila, I return it after I tried and they made me pay for it.

I first tried the wings from here to give it a shot. The sauce is just salty buffalo sauce and the wings were too hard for my liking. Very disappointing experience at the "new" Red Barrel Restaurant. SO looked forward to going as I remembered the excellent food and atmosphere of the former restaurant but I guess nothing stays the same. First of all, we were seated at the smallest 2 seat table I have ever seen. Everyone was packed in there like sardines, horrible. I tried to put my purse next to me but it was touching the man's leg at the "next" table. I tried to have a conversation with my daughter but felt everyone was staring at us and reading my lips, SO uncomfortable. I noticed no one around us was being served at any of the tables? They all looked so irritated. Waited 20 minutes and not even a glass or water. The prices are outrageous. Almost $30 for a steak, insane! Burgers $15. Will never return. Such a shame. The restaurant has a really nice ambiance and vibe. The cabin style interior looks really nice and it feel home and very cozy inside. It was probably my first time to see a restaurant with an interior as lovely as this restaurant have. Meanwhile, the staffs are very friendly and accommodating. We saw this place while we are around the area looking for a nice place to eat. This restaurant took our interest so we decided to dine in here. They have a different dishes and selections on their menu but we settled for a burger for each of us and we also ordered their grilled calamari because it seems interesting. Their burger was literally good. It is not a huge burger like I expected but it was so good while the calamari are flavorful as well however, there are some squids that are kind of rubbery and it is a bit chewy. We enjoyed dinner here tonight based on other yelp reviews. Parking was a bit of a challenge but there are a few lots and some street parking nearby. Service was amazing and very friendly. I had the filet and it was cooked perfectly. There was also a small band playing which was nice. Our son enjoyed a chicken sandwich and free scoop of ice cream for dessert. I used to frequent the former red barrel as a youngin and I was super excited for the relaunch. The food was good, but for the prices, the portions were small. There were five of us for dinner, and my husband and I shared a bottle of wine; no one else drank. We had two appetizers (one of them was wrong), and we each had an entree. Two in our group had burgers, one had fish, and I don't remember what the other two had, but the bill was almost $350 with tip! For those prices, I'll go downtown. As a long-time patron of the original Red Barrel, I was a little disappointed with the menu selection, but if you don't compare it to the original it had a good selection. We went there at lunch time. The lunch menu did not offer BBQ ribs, which is what we went there to have. I asked if they still had them. The manager/hosts were more than accommodating. Immediately they brought us a "dinner" menu which did offer the ribs and they were delicious. Tasty Bloody Marys too. The restroom, while nice and clean, was laid out a little awkwardly. First of all, there was about a 1" lip at the doorway, which would normally not be a problem, but bringing a wheelchair in there was difficult, because there was a dividing wall across from the restroom entrance, which made it tight to "square off" the W/C to tilt it up that 1" lip. The soap and paper towel dispensers were poorly placed and hard to access especially for the W/C person. The non-handicapped stalls, when you opened the door, opened too close to the toilet. When I called to make a reservation to accommodate a wheel chair, the person on the phone was a bit snippy, so I was leary about going there, almost cancelled out. I still wanted to give it a shot though, and ended up being pleasantly surprised. The servers were very attentive and friendly made the dining experience very enjoyable. So yes, even though it was a wee bit pricier than expected, I definitely would give repeat business. read more

However the highlight was the service, Raul went above and beyond normal level to make sure we had everything needed. Visited on a Monday afternoon, sat at the bar for some drinks and appetizers. The bartender (Juan) was welcoming and informative with everything on the menu. A few different menu's to choose from with a vast number of selections across the board. Ordered the bacon wrap shrimp and chicken bites. The chicken bites were tasty however very very limited in quantity, comes in a little fryer basket with onion frills which take up about 75% of the basket. I worked a large portion of my adult life in the restaurant business before transitioning into the auto industry, when the owners are shaking people's hands and thanking them for coming in is always a good sign, not to mention the place was packed at 230 in the afternoon on a Sunday. A MUST have is the almond crusted Mahi! Out of this world good! The Braised Short ribs rocked!! The 8oz New York Strip was excellent( try it with parm crust on top) The quality of food and portion sizes for the menu prices are great, the atmosphere is good, we will be back for sure! Use to go here when I was a kid.. It is nice they kept the inside like it was all the wood and rustic feel. That was the best part of the Red Barrel from the past.. I can understand keeping the name for business wise and getting people in there. That is where it stops tho. Nothing else was Red Barrel.. The food was very good and not to baldly priced. Everyone was saying they were over priced but not really for what you get... The server we had I think he was new to serving. He was flustered big time... He forgot a few things and once we got our food he disappeared for a while and we had to ask others for stuff like salt and pepper and more ketchup. The fries we cold on my burger and my friends burger. The burger was smoking hot so you know those fries where on the plate waiting for the burger...They put ketchup on the plate in a small cup but mine was filled maybe a forth of it while my friends was filled maybe half way... If you are going to serve it that way make sure they are filled to the top.. I will give it another try and see. It has only been open for a few weeks so they have stuff they need to work out.. This restaurant was the perfect atmosphere to start off the New Year. I had fond memories of the Original Red Barrel from being a kid. Although, things have changed, the coziness and service was outstanding. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu. We were pleased with our food. My husband ordered the red snapper and I ordered a half slab of ribs. It was reasonable in price. The coleslaw is the same recipe as the Original owners. We met the general manager and he was friendly. He informed us of the weekday specials and banquet services. We will be going back very frequently. read more

Great experience at Red Barrel. Super kid friendly spot with great ambiance and great food! The menu is versatile serving mostly American dishes with a unique twist. Lupe the manager was very attentive and welcoming. The server was fantastic at explaining the menu, he knew the menu very well and recommended the favorites. As a party of 8 who got together for a birthday they were super attentive and patient with our 3 moving toddlers. We had a great time and would recommend this spot to anyone. Red Beauty, a hidden treasure on the South side. I had never gone to it prior to reopening but always heard food was great. Well I was not disappointed. It's really nice inside small yet roomy. The have plenty of staff around to answer questions or help with an of order. Staff is really friendly and attentive . I tasted a few bites of shrimp , flat bread pizza, fish and chips all were tasty, give this place a try it's worth it. My party & I were excited to try this restaurant for the first time. We've passed by it dozens of times and it has always intrigued us. Today, we finally decided to go around 3:30pm. We were immediately seated and given menus. After 5 minutes, the hostess gave us some ice water. To clarify, everything was great up until this point. After the water was served, we ended up waiting more than 25 minutes for a server to take our order. We tried getting the attention of other employees but that failed to work. Initially, we thought they were short-staffed (which we understand and usually give the waiters the benefit of the doubt). But we saw about 3-4 waiters crowded around one party and they didn't even glance in our direction. At that point, we just decided to leave. It's really unfortunate because we loved the menu choices and the atmosphere but the service was terrible. I hope that this experience never happens with another customer. read more

Good food, close to home! We've eaten at the Red Barrel three times and enjoyed the ribs, tomato soup and grilled cheese, scallops, salad and a burger. Service is good. The manager and chef walked around talking with the customers which is a great touch, smart idea. I think the food is well presented, creative dishes and fairly priced. Was my 1st time going to the New Red Barrel since they Reopened. We were out for my Parents Anniversary Dinner and Everything was wonderful!!! The food was Great and I can't say enough about how wonderful our service was... Especially Raul our Waiter went above and beyond! First time here. And last.....sat down at 11:45, the waiter gave us the breakfast menu. We asked for the lunch menu and he told us the menu is for both breakfast and lunch. Not much on the menu for lunch (or breakfast for that matter) besides a couple burgers, quesadilla and chicken sandwich. I ordered the cream of chicken soup and chicken quesadilla. I think they use leftover buffalo chicken for all chicken recipes. The soup was orange in color and the chicken was ground, thought I was eating wet sawdust or sand or a mixture of both. The quesadilla had small bits of chicken, orange in color. Almost tasteless. They must have rinsed the buffalo chicken before adding it to the tortilla....My client ordered an omelette with bacon, pork, peppers and cheese and a side of hash browns. The hash browns were undercooked. The omelette was loaded with peppers, a couple slivers of pork and a piece of bacon the size of a thumbnail. The cheese was added to the top of the omelette. Before leaving I asked our waiter if they had a dinner menu which my client could look at and we were told we could have ordered off the dinner menu (if we had asked to see it) but the owners are pushing the breakfast menu.
