He likes that they have his beer here so we came for dinner. We sat in the Voodoo Lounge section of the restaurant. It was a game day atmosphere. We sat at a high top table next to the bar. Our server was friendly and checked on us frequently but not enough to be a pest. I appreciated her cheery attitude. He ordered the rib tip dinner which is slow-smoked pork rib tips in BBQ sauce, dinner portion. I went with a cup of seafood gumbo and the Cajun BBQ shrimp grilled in Cajun butter sauce with garlic, green onions accompanied with French bread for dipping into the sauce. The crusty bread went well with the sauce. I enjoyed my shrimp very much. It could have more taste in the sauce but the shrimp was cooked well so it was not chewy. I also asked for bread for the seafood gumbo. It came with butter and was enough for both of us. The soup was fairly decent. Not the best I've had but I would order it again. The portion was perfect as it didn't fill me up so I was able to enjoy dinner without feeling stuffed. His pork rib tips were divine. Melted in your mouth soft and the bbq sauce was delish. The atmosphere was fun and sports were on the tv screens around the lounge. But it was not too loud in here for conversation. You can also pick songs to be played using the music app. He suggested I use the restrooms in the restaurant portion of the building as they might be cleaner. They have a parking lot and a sign which says not to park on Natchez or Neenah as your vehicle might be ticketed or towed by police. They put up signs to show you which way to enter the small parking lot and which way to exit so be on the lookout for them especially during busy hours. Food was delicious! The waitress wasn't! My friend asked to recommend a drink, and the waitress shrugged her shoulders and said some drink with lemonade, which, then, my friend said, I don't like lemonade. So the waitress rolled her eyes, and said a hurricane. I asked for more water and she totally forgot. I had to ask another waitress for water. My friends and I finished our food and had dessert. Then we waited and waited for our check. Turns out she had to serve the bar also. She never apologized for being busy. Disappointing. read more

This is my first time going here in the evening, I'm normally a day time drinker. I was starving and the bartender did a good job getting me my soup right away. My favorite, etouffee (spelling?) has long since been removed from the menu and they only do meatloaf on Friday's so I've been struggling finding my new go to meal. The soups are always on point. Come here and try something other than PBR. You'll love it. They have a good selection of Belgians, so branch out and get yourself in trouble with a few 10%'s. Their food is damned good. It's not the best barbecue that I've ever had, but that's only because I've lived a pampered lifestyle and have had access to more talented chefs than you have. And by 'talented chefs', I mean people who grew up broke and quickly learned how to make the best out of what they had. In other words, my momma. There- you can't take THAT joke from me now. At any rate, these people make damned good food. You want wings? Get 'em "Korean-style". It's not even remotely close to any sauce that you'd taste in Korea, but it's really tasty and that's all that matter. Their brisket and ribs are on point, so do yourself a favor and try some. The service is always good, even when they're busy as all fuck-all. My only beef is with their parking situation, and that's probably not *COMPLELTELY* their fault (see Chicago zoning regulations), but it's enough to be more than a moderate pain in the ass-drop during busy hours. Thought this place had a good reputation. Clearly wrong choice! Went on a Tuesday night just for two of us. There were 3 ladies standing upfront (not necessary especially if your "short staffed"). They said there would be a 30min. wait for dining room, so the bar was open. Okay we sit at a table in the bar, a waitress gives us a thing to scan with our phone to get the menu, which ok fine but the table two feet away from us has a menu..soo..ok... She asks immediately what we want to drink and I was going to order a cocktail but didn't get to "look up" there menu yet so said a water and my husband just gets soda, & that I would order a cocktail when she took our food order. Almost 10 minutes go by and another waitress comes over & apologizes for the wait and says what can I get you. At this point I make the order to go because we are very bothered by the attitudes and atmosphere! Only order an appetizer & one entree. Which she got my entree wrong!! I ask for "today's special: pulled pork sandwich" instead gives me the double priced "chucks special". Wouldn't have known either cuz you don't get a receipt or check at all.. Came here to catch the second half of the Cubs playoff game. This place smelled like they were cooking up some good BBQ as I walked in. We were able to find a seat easily at the bar and watch multiple flat screens of the same game. We decided not to try any of the food since we ate already, however the beer menu I noticed was pretty impressive. I ordered a special Abita beer that I can't seem to find anywhere else, so I was pretty happy about that. We chatted with some cool people at the bar and to top off our experience, our team won. I'm not an expert on sports bars -- which is what the Voodoo Lounge is during daylight and during playoff seasons, and the locals here enjoy that -- but I know my jazz and blues bars, and the Voodoo Lounge has been one of the best in the metro area for live blues. Plus, it has a great late-night food menu from Chuck's BBQ restaurant next door, which you absolutely can't beat. It's the best music venue for blues on the SW Side and SW 'burbs and rivals many of the (much more run down) blues bars on the South Side in Chicago. Fortunately, every blues bar is a little different, and you'll get a good variety of sound over here. Like live jazz, live blues needs support or it'll fade away -- and Chuck's makes it really easy to like this blues bar. I've heard a variety of blues musicians here, and even one of my north side faves, the Special 20s, have made it down here regularly. I don't know what the music schedule is like now that Chuck's is back after several months (they had a fire that destroyed a good part of the building, but they're open again now), so it pays to call ahead. Before the fire, there was live blues music two to three nights a week, deejays and sports the rest of the time. And the house background music in the restaurant is blues, too. The tequila menu in the lounge is extensive (as might be expected, given Chuck's BBQ and Mexican-influenced food menu specials), and the microbrew menu is even longer. You'll find plenty to like here, and they're more than competent at cocktails, too. The proof is in being here, however. Come for the live music or the big flat screens, if you like, but try the food, too. You'll have a good time. read more

This bar is connected to Chuck's Southern Comforts Café. I'm not really sure why it has a separate yelp page but whatever. I've been here plenty of times and have always had great service and amazing food. (knock on wood) The bar area isn't too different then the rest of the restaurant. Mainly...there's a bar. Same menu and everything else. My favorite is the pulled pork nachos and I love their huge selection of beers. They sometimes have different events in the bar. I came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday afternoon. Service was good but the food not so great. My boyfriend ordered some chicken wings and I ordered the fried shrimp. When I received my plate it looked like they just piled the stack of fries not the shrimp. I only received about 5 pieces of fried shrimp and the rest was fries. My boyfriend had 4 pieces of chicken wings and we didn't eat the rest. Good thing we didn't because we both had severe stomach aches. read more

So I checked out this establishment with my lady friend. The Cajun shrimp and Korean sliders were on point. We were enjoying ourselves watching the game until what looked like a bobble head sized individual shuffles over and begins to harass my girl with his what seemed to be out played Johnny Bravo pick up lines while still trying to take our drink order. I think dudes name was Adrienne? Adriam? Adrian? Something like that. Anyway, he was pretty quick on his little feet. As the bar started to get really busy it was a real treat to watch this kid work his magic. It was as if he was a chihuahua walkin around with that little pink thing hangin out gettin ready to attack something he is not equipped to handle. This kid couldn't be packing anything bigger than an over-cooked curly fry. When I went to go enjoy some fun bar games with my date, I noticed some dude steady chillin on the golden tee machine with a couple other dudes. The part that really threw me off was he was wearing the same shirt as the bar staff and people kept calling him chewy. I'm guessing that was a nick name but it was later confirmed when I saw it on a plaque for being a 3 time champ of the beer club. Another nice perk this place has to offer besides having a staff that's so friendly they will literally stop what they're doing to have a drink with you and play a few holes. I almost couldn't believe he was the champ of the beer club cause he was only clutching waters from what I saw. But as the toddler behind the bar kept feeding him glasses of 'water' I grew more curious and told him I'll have what chewys having. I had previously came on here to write a review about Chucks BBQ. I believe in that review I stated that the food has been lacking and has gone downward. Well I'm still sticking to that. I recently came to Voodoo lounge to meet up an old friend. Walked into the voodoo lounge and was served by a short guy that resembles Tim Tebow. He gave us a menu and I explained to my buddy that they have a large selection of craft beers. With that said, let me get to the point. We stayed for quite some time as we enjoyed conversation and good beers. They have over 120 beers available. The bartender was tentative and sociable. THEN CAME IN THE FAT STOCKY MANAGER WITH GLASSES, "I'm closing the bar early, I got a long drive home and there is too much snow coming down." The bartender explained that we had just purchased a round and had an open tab. Mind you there was at least 7 other people in the bar and it was 12:30AM on a Monday. The bar closes at 2:00AM. The manager then said, "You need to get everyone out, I don't care how much they spent, I need to get home NOW." With that being said the bartender apologized to us as the manager stood around pouting with his stubby arms crossed. We left upset, as did all the clientele. I'll tell you what Voodoo lounge.. If the young adult female bar manager is in the Vodoo lounge do not expect for her to help you out with anything... She can never be found, the bar is normally filthy with dirty glasses shot classes on the tables that no one attends too... It was 1:45 closes at 2 my group of 20 friends and I were only ones left in bar I asked to skip a few songs ahead on the touch tunes( I payed a ton of songs that didn't get played yet) she was rude and said it would upset ppl if she skipped songs... I pointed out my friends were the only customers left in the bar she didn't care and was walking away from me as I was trying to talk to her. Chucks has great food and great beer but if joe Barry is not managing forget about getting a favor for a loyal customer. Voodoo lounge needs to clean up their service( wait staff is terrible) and the young ignorant manager needs to learn to do a better job of dealing with customers especially the loyal ones who fill the bar with all the hometown young adults week after week. read more
