***ADVISORY: AMAZING FOOD ALERT*** For those of you hunkering down and sheltering in place in the Tenderloin these days, here is a happy and affordable way to enjoy an excellent lunch for far cheaper than could be had in FiDi while simultaneously doing your part to keep afloat a wonderful local business. On the first day of forced remote work I made my way here to collect enough food for two outsized lunches for well under $30, fat tip included, served with a smile and what seemed genuine gratitude. They brand as Indian and also Himalayan/Nepalese, and while I'm not quite sure if the latter designation is the source, this is standout fare in the TandoorLoin: The dishes are spiced perfectly, with a hint of a kick but not so much heat that it drowns out the other flavors. My go-to's have for a time been the dal makhni and the fish curry. Black lentils hit the spot, and while the California curry has its adherents, I found myself not missing the shrimp and searching for more fish, hence landing on fish curry. Go for it, keep them thriving, and come back even after we have other options; I for sure will. Bonus tip: The Indian shiraz they offer pairs quite well with rich spicy Indian food, and can be purchased for takeout along with everything else. read more

I haven't been back here for over a year or two. I used to come here whenever I had my curry crave. It is a bit difficult ever since I have moved. My Indian friend is visiting so wanna take him to a nice and tasteful Indian/Nepalese cuisine, Red Chili comes into mind. Take the dirty street and smelly poops away, the inside is clean, neat and smell delicious. I order my usual House Butter Chicken with creamy tomatoes sauce. The others have something else, can't recall the name. Food come out fast. Smoking hot. Beautifully craft as I remember. Love the garlic nan. Onion nan is a bit burned. Service is fast and friendly. Ordered through UberEats and truly enjoyed my meal. I've tried most Indian restaurants in this area and find Red Chilli to be the best. Delivery fee was cheaper than others so I tried it. My usual order consists of Chicken Tikka Masala, rice, and naan. Not only this restaurant is cheaper than others, the taste was superior and spice level was customizable! Ordering delivery with them is never 100% accurate - sometimes big misses, sometimes just small ones, but always missing items. This place used to be my favorite Nepali restaurant in the San Francisco Bay. Was coming here since 2014 as their Momos were always consistent and delicious. We have created many good memories in this place. We went for lunch during the pandemic and realized that owner have changed and the food is not the same. Host were nice but hygiene wise it's not very good. We ordered some Momos, curries and Naan. Portion size was good but the food was very disappointing. It was during pandemic and no one was wearing mask. Glasses where they offered water was dirty. Taste is not the same. this place definitely brings me back to the time I spent in India, and every bite sends me back to the moment when I was staying with my auntie while studying there. The lamb Kadahi is truly amazing, they use real fresh vegetables. Large chunk of bell pepper and onions. They don't simply scoop it up from a large pot, then microwave it whenever someone ordered - which most Indian restaurants do. All their dish are made to order. That is why there is still a crunch when bite into the bellpepper. Even though, I went there by myself, they didn't decrease the amount of food they serve. I was still served with a plate of rice that's meant to be for 2-3 people, 2 leg/thigh of chicken tandoori, and a large bowl of kadahi. I had to take half of the dishes home. Because of the large portion of food they serve The Mango lassi is just WOW!! It has more mango than yogurt. The quality of the drink is outstanding. Compared to the other restaurants I've been to. this place actually makes a great mango lassi - unlike other who may have only used a hint of mango for some taste and color, the Mango lassi at this place makes you forget that you are actually drinking yogurt and every sip makes you feel as if you just took a bite of a real fresh mango. If you are a out of towner, I would encourage you to try this place and don't dismiss it because it is located in TL. Yes, it is a dangerous place to walk at night, and the whole street stinks of human feces. However, once you get inside the restaurant, all that old piss smell will disappear and replaced by the elegant flavor of curry. The Mango was so good I ordered another one to go. So for 2 dishes, a plate of rice, and 2 mango lassi that gives me a total of $29.75 which need i remind you again that it can feed up to 3 people. Unlike that Japanese ramen place on Geay (you know that one with the unnecessary long line) that cost me $55 for 2 bowls of ramen and they forced you to pay the gratitude fee of 15% by including it in the receipt regardless of the bad service. read more

Ordered the chicken tikka masala thali, samosas and mango lasi and all were amazing! The garlic naan was fresh and the perfect thickness. The samosas were crunchy and had good flavor. All the thali selections were delicious as well. The doors were open and there were a few flies but totally worth it. Reminded me of eating in India. I would have given five stars, but while I was eating someone casually asked if I wanted lentil soup, I said sure (thinking that it wouldn't be an extra charge) and they added that on to my bill. I am sorry to leave a bad review but the food was disgusting. I was craving Indian food and I always use delivery. The pictures looked great so did the descriptions. I ordered number of items. Everything had no flavor except grease. Basically all the dishes were just grease. The only enjoyable item was their spinach. I had to throw away everything. Believe it or not, but I've had Nepalese food before on several occasions. In short, it's like a mix between Chinese and Indian food. You can go to a Nepalese Restaurant and get unique dishes that combine both flavors that don't skimp on the curry. Red Chilli was a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong: I liked this place. The group of people that I came with all got different dishes and they were great. Not mind-blowing but not average, either. There were just no items that were unique to Nepal. There were mostly strict Indian and Pakistani dishes. I don't even think there was anything that hailed from actual Nepal or North of that. By deduction, there was a lot of cauliflower, eggplant, lentil, garbanzo and potato mixed with meats. Nothing really beyond that. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. They did, however, get my order wrong. I had had a very long day and didn't bother sending my meal back for the correct one. This is an honest mistake and I could have said something, so that one's on me. There really isn't much else to say. A good meal but forgettable. Good home style cooking and friendly staff. I decided to eat in, and felt very welcome. The goat biryani was nice, served with a yogurt. The hot chai tastes like milk--couldn't taste any chai. Mango lassi was pretty good--not very yogurty (which I like). Got the Saag aloo which was in some orange sauce and lamb tikki masala. Truly surprising hole-in-the-wall near Union Square. We ordered takeout and brought it back to our hotel. My two small children had a great butter chicken, and my wife and I had Jhaneko Saag (mustard greens), Aloo Bodi Tama, and Daal Tadka. I'm vegan, so I was happy with all the vegan options, and the staff was understanding and friendly. Very interesting spot with much to try! I was very impressed by the menu options with even little symbols showing you what was Nepalese. The workers are so nice that when I left my to-go container the waitress ran to me! It doesn't get a full 5 stars only because they had many vegetarian seeming options but they weren't in a section so for example I got one item that was oily I asked what the oil came from and they said the bamboo shoots. Good place if you are looking for some light indo Chinese/ Indian fusion/ Nepali food. They have a good variety on the menu. It had both Indian delicacies and pan Asian delicacies. So if you're craving for saag or Momos they have it all. Service- very slow, I had to wait for good 15-20 Minutes for a plate of momos.
