This is the spot for Nepalese & Indian food in San Francisco. When I walked in the place was nice and orderly. I enjoyed the chicken chow mein, nice spice and flavor. The veggie steamed momo's and sauce were amazing as well, definitely a must try and great for sharing. I loved their menu outside the store with pictures. The place was welcoming and beautifully decorated. Great for families or by yourself. I can tell they love what they do and the food was great. I can't wait to go back and try more dishes.

I had not been to Himalayan Cuisine for many years until I recently visited after seeing the restaurant on Hella Hansel. I went on a Friday evening and was immediately seated. The restaurant was bustling and the staff (presumably the owners) were nice and welcoming. We started with the pakora and Himalayan chicken momo's. The pakora was excellent! The outside was perfectly crispy and not oily while the inside was warm and moist. The momo's were okay but next time I will opt for the veggie momo's. For mains we ordered Chicken Korma and Saag / Palak Paneer. Both were delicious, as was the garlic naan. Definitely happy about my return visit and look forward to going back.

So glad I stumbled upon this place because everything we got was super tasty. The outside was unassuming but had a pleasant atmosphere inside. It wasn't too busy on a weeknight so we were able to get seated without a reservation. This spot should definitely be on your to-try list.

Nice spot that stays open later than most! Good Nepalese cuisine. Had their Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Curry, Momo's, Chicken Chow Mein and garlic naan. Everything tasted great! They work fast and the food arrived piping hot. Solid food option! I've been here a couple times, will probably be back soon to try some more dishes.

Best comfort food ever. Himalayan Cuisine is our go to for warm, delicious, and affordable food. I highly recommend their soups and lunch wraps. The soups are salty is a good way, and most of the dishes have customizable spice levels. Food comes out quick, and the entire restaurant is very comfy, warm, but still very nice and classy. Their lunch wraps are super cheap and are a hit every time. The portion sizes are great. My husband and I are here quite often. The employees are so polite and friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough, whether you're looking for something for yourself or to share the city's great cuisine with visitors.

Solid Indian spot in Nob Hill with comforting, well-executed dishes and generous portions. The chicken curry was rich and aromatic, with tender pieces and a nicely balanced spice level that didn't overwhelm. The naan was warm, soft, and lightly buttery--perfect for soaking up the sauce. The biryani had good fragrance and texture, with visible spices and vegetables, though it leaned slightly mild for those who prefer bolder heat. A standout surprise was the momos (dumplings), which were well-pleated, juicy, and paired with a flavorful dipping sauce that added a nice kick. Service was efficient and the overall experience felt relaxed and unpretentious--good for both casual dinners and sharing multiple dishes. Not the most adventurous Indian food in the city, but consistently satisfying and worth a return visit if you're in the neighborhood.

Great food! Note: medium spicy is still very much on the spicy side. We got aloo gobi, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, steamed chicken mo mo, and mango lassis - all of which tasted great. The servers were attentive, and the vibes in the restaurant were good. Would recommend coming h

4.5 Stars We came here for the momos at lunchtime. They also have a wider variety of other items on the menu (Indian items too). We got the steamed chicken ($13.99) and veggie momos ($11.99). They bring out these crunchy cumin crackers and dips to snack on as you wait for your meal. The momos were wonderfully spiced and delicious, and the dough seemed very fresh. The interior is authentic and very casual. It smells heavily of spices. The staff (I think it was the owner who was waiting us) were very polite and kind. I was starving and the food seemed to take a long time to come out, though, it does say on the menu that momos take longer to cook.

Casual, yummy hole in the wall place down Polk :) The owner is so sweet and passionate about the food. He also said that his friend made all the art on the walls - each one was so fun to admire! Very reasonable prices! I loved the momos. They were so delicious and fragrant. The crunch of the somosas also added good texture to the meal. We also got a free appetizer while choosing from the menu. There was no wait on a Monday at 5pm but got busy when we left at like 6:30pm.

We came across this place while walking around SF and were not disappointed! The restaurant is smaller with a few tables for dining in. The lighting is a bit dim although we did come during the afternoon. However that didn't bother us at all. Now, I have to give kudos to the staff and how attentive they were to us because they really went out of our way to help us select dishes to try and they made sure to highlight popular Himalayan food on the menu. We ended up ordering the chicken choila, which is almost like a tandoori chicken but served cold and the balance of spices skews more towards the zing of ginger and it is on the spicy side, but it's not too overpowering. I really liked the chopped cilantro and the green onion which provided this cooling effect. We also ordered the steamed chicken momos, which comes with a chutney-type dipping sauce. The texture of the momos was soft and supple, with this delicious chicken filling that was also juicy as well. The sauce that comes with the momos reminded me of the base of a lot of south Asian dishes, that is more cream-based although the spices were toned down. I ended up liking the momos with the green chutney as it provided that fresh balance that blended nicely with the richness of the momo dish. Overall, I would recommend coming here to try new dishes and trust the recommendations from the staff!

A very authentic and flavorful spot! Everything we tried was incredibly delicious and had a nice level of spice. We had the samosa, which wasn't too greasy, and my favorite was the chicken momo which had the perfect spicy kick. We also got the butter chicken, which was also absolutely delicious. Overall, the prices are very affordable, especially considering the quality of the food. They also have a great selection of vegetarian options. The service was very quick, and the place was clean with an authentic vibe.

There was a bottle of water on each table. The food came out in three pretty silver bowls. The nice metal bowls added to the experience. The chicken tikka masala was the exact right amount of spice. Not too hot, not too mild. I could taste the butter and the chicken was perfectly cooked and moist. The rice was rice. It was exactly what I expected and cooked fine. The cheese garlic naan tho... good lord I could eat 100 orders of it. Insanely good. So much butter, cheese, garlic, and hot out of the oven (or wherever). I would absolutely order it again. I spent about $30 on everything (16 for entree, 3 for rice, like 5 for naan, then tip). For $30, I was stuffed and it felt like a great value. Ambiance was nice. I already mentioned the bowls, but the music was just Indian bangers. I didn't know any of the songs, but two of them in particular were so good that I wish I had asked what they were. Like electronic Indian party music. So good. Will definitely go again when I have time to kill in the area again.

Before our visit, I emailed the restaurant to make a reservation and asked what would be served. The restaurant replied that the buffet would include Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, Goat Curry, and Fish Pakora, while the vegetarian options rotate daily. They also mentioned that almost all the food is prepared mild. It was our usual get-together, and it was the first time for all of my friends to try the lunch buffet at this restaurant. Lunch buffet items included: * Paneer Makhani * Fish * Goat Curry * Butter Chicken * Tandoori Chicken * Aloo Gobi * Egg Roll * Rice * Naan * French Fries * And several other dishes Some of the buffet items didn't have name signs, so I wasn't always sure what I was eating. There were also a few items that weren't available when we first arrived, so we had to wait for them to be replenished. I liked the Tandoori Chicken and Butter Chicken. The Paneer Makhani was just okay. The vegetables were also just okay, and because there weren't any signs, I wasn't sure what some of the vegetable dishes were. The two desserts were a little too sweet for me. Although the restaurant mentioned that almost all the food was prepared mild, some of the dishes were actually spicy and not mild. Our group had mixed opinions about the buffet. A few of us, including myself, don't eat spicy food, so the difference in spice levels was noticeable. The restaurant also offered us free chai tea, which was a nice gesture. Overall, I would say the owner was trying his very best. He was the only person working in the restaurant during our visit. He was making the Tandoori Chicken, preparing and serving food behind the counter, bringing water and drinks, and bringing extra plates for the buffet. With one person handling so many things, it was understandable that some food needed time to be replenished. For $20, the all-you-can-eat buffet is a reasonable option, especially if you want to try several different Indian dishes. I hope they can add clear labels for the buffet items, indicate which dishes are spicy, and keep the food replenished more consistently as the restaurant gets busier. Lastly, I'll come back and give the lunch buffet another try.
