Today marks the 3rd time my family and I have eaten here. The food is fantastic, hot and looks exactly as pictured. The drinks are ok and the staff is young but very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that the music is so loud I feel like I'm in a club. My wife and I could barely hear each other. If your going to eat in make sure to get a seat at the front like we did the first time. If you go to the back the music is way too loud. Also wear comfortable clothes if you are coming to enjoy the seafood boil, it will splash on you. We will be coming back soon, but sitting near the front for sure. read more

I stumbled across it last summer when I was looking for a good seafood restaurant with quality fare and affordable prices for my husband's birthday. Lord knows I didn't have $200-$300 to spend on one dinner lol. We have been hooked ever since. I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was. I went with my family and two small children. The manager brought some complimentary hush puppies to the table, which was so nice. My daughter ate almost all of them. Everything was excellent! We went during happy hour and got the calamari and popcorn shrimp for appetizers and I got the house margarita. They were all great! I feel that I can finally review Red Crab House after a couple of visits. Both occasions, I went for happy hour so the drinks were on special. The Moscow Mule and Red Crab punch were favorites and they aren't skimpy with the alcohol. On my first visit, I had happy hour food...popcorn shrimp with a side a fries. On my most recent visit, I tried the seafood boils. Well, specifically, I got a pound of shrimp with their signature seasoning at medium heat. Every seafood boil comes with corn and potato. Every visit, the food and drinks have been on point. The service, however, can be hit or miss. I've usually gotten friendly and helpful service but the service can be slow at times. I have been really wanting crab legs lately so since I was in the area I decided to try Red Crab House. I've been to several restaurants that offer seafood boil options. It seemed the portion size was very small for a half pound hence I ended up adding sausage after I got my initial shrimp and crab leg order and it was "light". I got the red crab special seasoning and it was SALTY! And yes the pics are before I ate anything. It funny be when the server asked if I wanted a side a said no because it comes with corn and potatoes... I assumed I would get at least 2 ears and 2 potatoes. Looking for a great crab boil this is the place to be. It's nothing fancy but feels comfy and at home. Decorations could use an update but other than that food was amazing! Got about 3 lbs of seafood, white rice and fried calamari. The calamari is some of the best I've ever had and the garlic butter with the Cajun seasoning on the seafood was to die for. I wish I could swim in it! Let's just say nothing was left except shells. They offer gloves and a bib which I appreciated! Place is pretty packed around happy hour around 3. This spot has been through many name changes, so decided to give them a try for happy hour. Arrived on a Friday a little after 5pm with two hours of happy hour remaining! Was seated immediately. This place is definitely delicious and yelp worthy. I went for HH and I can tell this is the best seafood spot in laurel. After having the wings and calamari I can't wait to try the crabs. She goes once or twice a week...so she treated me to a crab leg boil for lunch today...with seasoned garlic butter...the butter sauce was delicious...very flavorful...the best crab boil I've had so far in the DMV. Our server, I believe he said his name was El, was very friendly, quick with refills, when we place an app order, mozzarella sticks which were delicious by the way, told us he was putting the order in asap due to if we were going to order a Boil, the boils are cooked quickly and he didn't want them to be served at the same time. Which he was correct. Our shrimp/clam boil came fast! Very little wait time. He explained the menu in detail and gave great spice recommendations. As stated, we did the shrimp and clams boil. I ordered the chicken tenders, fried catfish and fried shrimp. I was disappointed in the fried chicken tenders because they were pink on the inside. It looked like real chicken breast too. We ordered the mild sauce as my brother was having issues with spicy foods at the time. We had several orders of lobster tail, shrimp, crab legs. These came with corn and potatoes with the order. Their red crab special sauce is delicious. It soaks so well into the potato and corn. It is absolutely great to dip the seafood in. The seafood tasted very fresh. The lobster tail was cooked perfectly. We did order calamari as well which was just ok. But my favorite thing that we ordered was the broccolli. I know you all just made a face... but A) I love brocolli. B) They cooked it so well and doused it with butter and garlic. They could make a perfect dish by just mixing in lump crab meat with the broccoli and that would be all I woud need to order. We also got fries and rice. Sadly, all good things generally come to an end. In this case, we had multiple issues with Red Crab House tonight. First, we waited half an hour for a table, only to have our eardrums assaulted walking in the door. They had music blaring beyond reasonable levels in the entire restaurant. There were multiple little kids in there being subjected to it as well. They walked us to our table at the far end of the restaurant, which is apparently the party room. It was overcrowded and overrun with even more kids. My wife decided to peace out and just order to-go. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our order to be ready. That was normally only 15-20 minutes the dozen or so previous times we've ordered carry out from Red Crab House. It was busy, but not busy enough to double the wait time. I ordered the house blend sauce, medium spice level. Normally, I get it spicy, but I wanted to tone it down this time. What I received was spicy, not medium, and it was also saltier than usual. That was annoying, but it wasn't inedible. Portion-wise, we both noticed that we received considerably less shrimp this time. They weren't any bigger, so there wasn't a half pound of shrimp in either of our bags. Also, the snow crab clusters were a bit mushy and not as fresh. We normally don't finish either of our meals in one sitting, because it (was) a lot of food. Not tonight though; we both finished ours. This is my first visit to this restaurant. The Red Skyy was opened previously in this space. The layout is similar to Red Skyy, but the decor is very different. Unlike Red Skyy, this is solely a cajun & seafood restaurant. Basically, you can order shellfish and have then steamed and or fried. They are steamed in the bag. The food looks, smells, and taste great. They have a full bar and Blue Moon on tap. Seems like a great place for parties. The event room in the back has a full bar and can easily hold 100 people between bar and tables. The General Manager and bartenders are great. Looking forward to trying more food. I was craving seafood yesterday and decided to check out this hot & new spot. I went in on an empty stomach and was ready to devour all the seafood on site! Please excuse my gluttonous moment, but my eyes were truly bigger than my stomach at that moment. So I decided to "get my hand dirty" and ordered shrimp with no head, lobster tails, crawfish, Dungeness crabs, snow crabs and my all time fav; the succulent, oh so sweet blue crabs!! I also ordered a pound of blue crabs with the Cajun seasoning/extra hot and an extra pound of the snow crab in the special chili/extra hot and some boiled eggs. Now once everything came to the table I realized just how over board I went, so I decided to take most of the food home. The 3 seasonings/flavors were yummy, but not as hot as I'd prefer.
