The menu noted that the price was 16.49. When the young man brought me my food, I asked him to let me speak to the manager as she was the person who took my order. She came over and asked what was the problem. I pointed out that the menu noted the dinner was $16.49 and she had charged me $19.99- which was $3.50 more. She asked where did the menu say this price. I showed her the overhead marquee and she responded that they have two and the wrong one was up. I didn't argue- although I could have. Instead I told her she might want to make sure she update the marquee if she wasn't going to honor the price. While there are a lot of young people who work here- the manager wasn't- thus her reply was not anchored in inexperience. I was disappointed that she didn't offer to make it right or acknowledge that it was their error. That's poor customer service. Usually service is good and the food tastes close enough to grandma's that it addresses the craving. Just check your receipt.

Everything was great. The salmon entree is two salmon steaks with a thick layer of crab filling in between. The top salmon steak was thick, but remarkably moist and cooked perfectly. Each of the veggies was good. Huge portion of everything. My partner and I shared everything and ate about 1/4 of the food, taking the rest home for lunch/dinner tomorrow.

Customers who ordered after me were receiving their food first, and my order was never even called. My friend eventually had to go up and ask where my food was before it was brought out. The ladies' restroom was clean, which I appreciated, but there were no paper towels, only one hand dryer, and surprisingly no mirror at all. That was especially odd considering there were several large mirrors in the bar area. If you have plenty of time, the food may be worth it, but I would not recommend going there during a lunch break unless you order well ahead. The food was good, but the overall experience was too slow and inconvenient for me to return for lunch.

The name "Soul Boat" definitely lured me in but instead I got canned greens and uncandid yams. I was beyond disappointed the moment I walked in but decided to give them a shot anyway because I was hungry. My wife and I ordered the following: Whiting Fish Platter, Shrimp Platter, along with fried Calamari. The platters come with two sides. The whiting platter I ordered I chose collard greens and candid yams. You can tell the greens came out the can. The amount of stems and blandness annoyed me from the first bit. The candid yams have nothing sweet about them. The fish was unseasoned can tasted like a filet that was just dumped in a deep fryer and pulled out. I threw most of this away outside of the fish. My wife ordered the shrimp platter with mac and cheese and greens. The shrimp are LARGE. Same problem with the greens. The Mac & Cheese just wasn't giving. I also ordered a side of Calamari. I took one bite and the trash that went as well. This didn't appear to be seasoned or cooked as well. The food here is awful. No clue how people eat here. Living off the soul name is ridiculous as mostly everything felt like it came out of a can. I'll never come back here and I'd advise you save your time and money. The only thing good about this place is the staff and the fancy bags your food comes in. I do not recommend.

My schedule was rearranged last minute on a Saturday so I decided to catch their brunch. The laurel location was the closest to me. I was able to reserve a spot at the bar on open table about an hour before arrival . It must have been a lucky day for me because there were plenty vacancies and I didn't need to make a reservation. There was live jazz playing. I sat at the bar - shout out to Nnamdi who was the bartender and my waiter. Food wise: brunch only offers the $55 unlimited food option for two hours. I was completely fine with this as I was able to taste multiple dishes. I had the fried deviled eggs, Rockefeller oysters, bang bang shrimp, deep fried snow crab legs, pork chop and grits, wings in hot honey lemon pepper (their signature sauce) and the white chocolate bread pudding I enjoyed everything except the deep fried crab legs. The cluster was hallow. I had more fried batter than crab meat. Deviled eggs were my favorite of all the things I tried. And the bread pudding was sinfully delicious . I wasn't able to finish my last two items ordered but luckily I was able to fit it in the to-go box. Most places that serve unlimited food don't allow to-go boxes so I was happy to not have my leftovers go to waste. I opted for the bottomless cocktails as well. I stuck to the mimosas and tried the different flavors. The pours were generous. Nnamdi was very attentive and I appreciate him answering all of my clarifying questions as it was my first time. Gratuity is included! I am excited to go back! Before leaving I ordered a cocktail (MisKiri IX) that wasn't included in the bottomless cocktails. It was good. A little too sweet for me but glad I tried it.

She said"the kitchen" messed up packing my order but instead of sending it back, she "fixed it". Honestly it seemed like she was trying to get me my food on time, but management should have been called to solve this problem and ensure I didnt leave the restaurant with collard greens missing all their juices. I didnt know what exactly happened with tje packaging, so since I was told the problem was "fixed", I took my food and left. The worst part was the deviled egg appetizer. Another casualty of the kitchen, apparently. It looked unappetizing when I got home and opened it, and the crab topping that I paid an extra $3 for gave off a very strong smell (reminiscent of the kitchen of a seafood restaurent) and also appeared wet. I'd guess they took crab straight from a can, put it on top of the eggs, and covered it with old bay seasoning. Very disappointing. Sadly these were not the only issues, as the collard greens themselves were bland and a little tough. There was also a wooden stick in my greens?? Not sure why. Although the catfish was fried well, that's the only satisfactory thing about this experience, and everything else ruined it.

The service was quite good for a buffet - staff were pleasant and worked hard. The hot and sour soup was good. Tried the chicken and broccoli - the chicken was decent and the broccoli wasn't overcooked/mushy at all. The sushi selection is not extensive, but it looked fresh and there was salmon sashimi also available. The sashimi were small cube pieces that were good. Only negative was the steak. There was a side of beef where you could cut off pieces. We each took a small piece. Both of them were very, very tough and chewy. We couldn't eat them. Too bad, because the rest of the food was good. Although the steak was inedible, the ribs were quite good. My partner said the crab was quite good - not large, but well prepared and tasty. There was a warning sign by the oysters about worms being natural to oysters and might be present in the oyster. I didn't see any, but I ate two and then later saw the sign and didn't have any more. Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

Today, I gave them another shot because Uber Eats was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the jerk chicken meal. I chose rice & peas with plantain for my sides. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

They have a very limited menu and I can appreciate that however I did ask if my food was going to be freshly prepared or if it had already been cooked and was sitting under warmers. I was informed that it would be freshly made and I didn't feel like that was untruthful because it was just some fried fish and french fries which you can just throw in some grease. Yeah, nah. It was at the very beginning of warm. That's not hard to make some fresh fish and some fresh hot crispy french fries. But for $10, okay. I was asked to pay immediately after I ordered and thought that this was awkward as well but, okay. If the food was hot it would have been great.
