I ordered 1/2 lbs brisket, they gave me 3 pieces of brisket on top to hide the fact that rest was all trimmed fat.

Food was average, ribs thin, sandwiches and sides small. But what really ripped me off was I purchased 1/2 lbs of brisket and when I got home I realized that the top pieces actually had meat but that hid the fact that all of the other slices was completely all trimmed fat.

The food was absolutely trash and the service was not anything about it. I ordered via DoorDash and I found that they left one of my drinks. I found an egg shell in my potato salad and the brisket was terrible. Absolutely the last time I had ordered from Red Hot and blue. I thought I'd give them another chance after 10 or so years wrong idea or at least absolutely the wrong location in order from. I absolutely deserve a refund for this underwhelming meal and will be contacting the restaurant first thing when they open .

I texted a friend telling them about the ribs again they laughed and said I sound obsessed I told them obsession is worth it when food is this good

St. Louis Ribs, Half Slab with sweet potato fries and coleslaw

The ambiance was that of a typical bbq restaurant, big bar in the front for grabbing drinks but too noisy and cold to dine in. Get a table in the back for talking. Service was friendly with sweet tea refills frequent. I enjoyed the half rack of ribs. Nice smoke taste and it was a good portion. The onion basket was similar to the old onion loaf, lightly breaded onions. I would order this again anytime. The sweet tea was a hit but didn't like the unsweetened tea. Fries (potato and sweet potato) were good, not over cooked and good size and portion. The smoked turkey was a little dry but they have a few different bbq sauces to select from on the table. I preferred the sweet one because the others were too hot for me. My sister found the pulled pork a little too fatty. The chicken tenders coating was a little thick. They need to work on sides as the coleslaw, beans and the Mac and cheese were watery and underwhelming. We were visiting the area so will not be returning but if you want ribs and are in the area stop by (get the onions).

this is a portion for a two year old

Good meats but the side order portions for carry out are ridiculously small. This is fit for maybe a smaller child. Ate both the potato salad and the beans and its like I never ate at all.

FAT from one sandwich.. the bun the size of a hamburger bun!

Food was delivered by a very nice gentleman We opened up the food to find no utensils to eat the potato salad and coleslaw! (We are in a hotel for the night) The sandwich seemed very small for $16 plus and was full of fat The picture is the fat from one sandwich! I do not like to complain but really $40.00 worth of food..... We will not be back!

In all honesty, I found the food here to be two stars AT BEST ... this was one of those meals I regretted spending money, or calories, on, when I left. I am a sucker for BBQ and up north, there just is not good BBQ to be found. Even the top-rated spots use electric smokers and sugary sauces. Given that Maryland is (to me) closer to the south, I hoped to grab some good old fashioned BBQ when I saw the 'food next exit' BBQ sign. The restaurant is in a cute, little MD town about 2 miles off Route 95. It's in a weird building ... I was kind of hoping to find a shack or roadhouse but it is more of a sit down restaurant. It is cozy in a 1990's style way with bright red walls and cheap blonde veneer wood finish. There are Blues concert posters and black and white photos of blues singers on the walls. I was seated in a booth in the bar area of worn red pleather ....the bar looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the Clinton administration with papers, an old box fan and other brick a brac scattered about. The bottles were a strange mix of liquor bottles you've seen at liquor stores but don't know what you'd do with. The restaurant portion seems nicer than the bar area but the entire restaurant has a bit of a shop worn vibe, including a window you pass on the way out where food supplies/boxes are stacked up like a warehouse. The food was regrettable. I did get a $10 off coupon through yelp, which took the sting out of the prices ... which seemed on the high side. I settled on a draft beer and the two meat platter. I chose pulled pork and brisket. They arrived and the brisket looked a bit dry and there was about 1/4 fat and 3/4 meat. The pulled pork looked a bit more like cole slaw and the meats were pretty greasy. I could taste no smoke ... if you told me that these meats were cooked in a crock pot, I'd believe it. I smelled no BBQ smoke outside of the restaurant, which went along with the smokeless taste. I covered the bland piles of meat in BBQ sauce, my favorite being the sweet sauce. The sauces were a bit sugary ... but at this point, I just needed something to make the meat taste like anything. It seemed the sauces were not homemade, except for the hot sauce. The mac and cheese side was good ... not the best I've had but better than some of the spots I've visited. The baked beans were awful. Basically a few spoonfuls of small reconstituted beans swimming in a cup of sweet, watery liquid. The meal was adequate but regrettable. I felt as though it was a bit of a waste of calories ... from sit down to paying the check, it was 20 minutes, so I did not waste much time eating and they didn't waste much time cooking. It was not true, authentic BBQ in my eyes ... more of a touristy version of semi-BBQ. In fairness, it did seem that many of the (mostly elderly) customers were repeats who knew the staff by name. While not my cup of tea, as a BBQ enthusiast, maybe someone living in a small town would find the social aspect more appealing. I'm glad I received $10 off ... with tip, this would have been a $30+ lunch otherwise.

    Burnt Ends

So I went searching for burnt ends here in the DC. Being I am from Memphis, I am looking for real BBQ. I asked in a Foodie group on FB about where to find some GOOD burnt ends. Someone suggest Red Hot and Blue in Laurel. I placed an order for burnt ends and catfish. The place is not too far from my home so that was a plus. Overall I did like the food. The burnt ends were flavorful and tender, the catfish was really good too. I will be ordering again tomorrow! Lol Here is a picture of the burnt ends. They are a nice size appetizer..

I might have had this catered in the past, but never dined in for a great treat. My big sister has been raving about this place since it's such a short walk from her house. We decided to eat bbq instead of visiting our normal spots, and I was not disappointed. My sister spoke highly about the brisket chili and that was the first thing I ordered. I almost wanted to lick the bowl it was so good and I should've ordered some to go. The brisket was surely present and the spices complimented it well. I loved that they served it with sour cream and tortilla chips . . . all I needed was rice and that would have set the whole chili off for me! I order the ribs & crispers (chicken tenders). It comes with hushpuppies, cole slaw, and french fries. Very hearty and enough to take home if you seem to get full. My sister ordered the whole smoker sampler with grandma's potato salad and greens. The potato salad, hushpuppies, and greens were very tasty and accompanied the meats very well. We also ordered Hurricanes to drink and they are definitely boozy! I must say that I would return and it was low-key and off the beaten path in this part of town. My server was excellent and very attentive. I surely hope to visit again when I'm in the neighborhood or another RHB location!

An employee was being trained at the time, and the staff immediately let us know this upfront. I really appreciated that level of transparency because it prevents customers from wondering why someone might be unfamiliar with certain things. Once we were seated, our server Virginia was amazing. She came to our table right away and helped guide us through the menu with recommendations that worked perfectly for both me and my dining companion. I ordered the Texas Beef Brisket and Catfish Fingers with red-skinned mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and a cornbread muffin. The food arrived quickly and everything was delicious. The cornbread muffin was melt-in-your-mouth good. My only small note is that the steamed broccoli was a little more cooked than I prefer -- I enjoy my broccoli with more crunch -- but that is purely a personal preference. One thing that really stood out to me was how well the staff worked together. Multiple servers checked on us and every interaction came with a smile and professionalism. The restaurant itself was also very clean and well maintained, which made the experience even more enjoyable. After paying our bill, we had the opportunity to speak with the manager, Leonie. After talking with her, it became clear why the team operates so well. Leadership truly sets the tone, and it is obvious that the culture she creates carries through the entire staff. I am not in Laurel very often, but I will absolutely make it a point to stop by Famous Dave's whenever I am in the area again.

I normally get the beef brisket either sandwich or entree, which comes with cornbread, and mac n' cheese or beans. Brisket you can get lean or moist. Moist is even more delicious, but less healthy than lean. Also, there are 6 varieties of BBQ sauces. My favorites are Texas Twang & West Virginia one. They have a Maryland style, which is a pretty good effort. There's also Carolina, Mississippi, & one other one. Good BBQ is hard to come by in MD, but Mission BBQ is always a great choice. Their blueberry clobber is incredible too, which I got a couple of times for free around Valentine's Day. Staff has always been nice at the Laurel location. Also, they support the troops & first responders. On 9/11 anniversary, they get a free sandwich that day. In 2024, my conservative dad also told me that at Noon everyday, they do the National Anthem. I asked my dad follow-up questions: Me: "Walked in at 12:05. Wonder if they still do that. Never heard them do before, but never was here exactly at 12. Do people stand up for national anthem at 12 even if they are in the middle of eating? Dad: "Yes" Me: "Does everyone stand up, or do some stay seated as they don't want their food to get cold or whatever?" Dad: "The employees stop working. Everyone except liberals stand up. They all face the flag waving on the TV until it is done. Many clap at the end of cheer." Me: "Oh wow, that's cool. So you do see some liberals stay seated?" Dad: "Just kidding on that." Me: "Oh and is it at every location? Like does Laurel, MD & all of them do it?" Dad: "All of them" Another time I arrived just before noon, which was nice as everyone stood up to put their hand on their heart while National Anthem is played. In 2024, my friend had a differing opinion from my dad on this noon National Anthem: Me: "Just missed National Anthem. My dad said Mission BBQ does at Noon everyday. I've never been right at noon." Him: "I would be pissed if I was in the middle of eating and had to stand up for national anthem." Me: "I hope I'm there one day so I can participate." Him: "Dealbreaker for an early lunch there for me." Me: "Liberals eat late. Conservatives eat first." Him: "Yeah they should have the conservatives eat at 11:30 and the libs eat at 12:30." Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

I just love this spot. I've been coming here over the years to get my fill of Pennsylvania Dutch…read moretreats, which allows me to get from DC without having to drive all the way to Pennsylvania. This spot has so many wonderful food stands. Upon walking in, you can pick up a cart to explore all of the stands. My kids love this place as much as me since you can find so much variety. Our first stop is the very busy Amish soft pretzel stand. My kids love the standard soft pretzel dipped in melted butter and topped with rock salt. My personal favorite are the stuffed soft pretzels like the pretzels stuffed with roast beef and cooper sharp cheddar. Nothing tastes better! There are also many other stands that offer fresh produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods. I particularly like Bieler's Donuts, the same place you'll find packed lines in Philadelphia right here. It's such a fun place and my kids love it. But most importantly, this is dad's spot!

In the most visually-exciting sequence of Director/Writer Jalmari Helander's 2025 film Sisu: Road…read moreto Revenge, three Soviet Ilyushin II-2 Shturmovik ground-attack planes attempt to bring down the KraZ-214 armored, military-transport truck driven by the hero who single-handedly turned the tide for the Finns in the earlier film and in the sequel, set in 1946. Using his wits, his ingenuity, and unparalleled levels of skill and perseverance, Aatami Korpi, who earns the moniker of "the man who cannot die," escapes not just bombs and machine gun fire but a plane deployed as a missile. And yet, the most moving moment of the film is not found in one of its many arresting action sequences but in a single line of dialogue, spoken by one of six Finnish men, who, along with one teenager and one boy, carrying hatchets, axes, and tools, interrupts the battle-finished Korpi's work on his new home to ask in Finnish, subtitled in English, "We thought you might need some help?" Speechless and shaking with relief and joy, Korpi watches the strangers get to work on his roof, walls, and foundation. That level of kindness, assistance, delight, joy, skill, and service can be seen in every vendor at the Dutch Country Market Thursdays through Saturdays at 9701 Fort Meade Rd in Laurel, MD. Whether it is homemade pretzels, pasta salads, chili, produce, meats, cheeses, popcorn, donuts, or varieties of dark chocolate, candy, or fudge you seek, you will find plenty to whet your appetite. Mind you, most, if not all, of everything contains zero preservatives. Our advice is to buy what you can enjoy soon or share your purchases with company before it's too late.
