It was easy to sign up and sign release forms online. Then, staff was very attentive and helpful , getting us set up for our escape room efficiently. We did 2 escape rooms within a week because we really enjoyed the first one so much. After Prison Break, we did "Once Upon A Time"... It's rated simpler, but it was more subjective..a little less linear, so although we still escaped, it took us 12 minutes longer work 2 extra hints. Everything was clean even bathrooms. Nice lockers to use for valuables during escape experience too. Also, check out their non profit offers! This is one of the best escape rooms our family has ever done! It's only medium difficulty, and seems accurately rated ... but we chose the room for its great reviews and fun theme and wow, it didn't disappoint. This is a very fun place if you like escape rooms. I have tried "The Gift" and "Confinement" which I believe are the two hardest escapes. You get to guess a riddle in the beginning to get a free clue, and they hand you a button for when you want to ask for a hint. I did not escape "The Gift" but I made it out of "Confinement". There are other rooms to try and I hear that every Red Door Escape Room location has different rooms so I will make my way over to others when I'm done in Oxnard. We played three games here last night: fair game, the Christmas version of the gift and the 30 minute robot game. The Captain Maniacal's Labrotorium 30 min game was by far my favorite. This is a FUN way to spend time with family & friends. Book online to guarantee a time slot. You get a discount at the store if you book another game. They are reasonably priced. *This is not the type of entertainment I would normally recommend for first timers to try as their romantic date night on a budget since it's an hour solving puzzles using teamwork & communication so there's a chance you might get frustrated with each other tbh. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it for a date night for couples that enjoy challenges & adventure and want something more interesting than dinner and drinks. Staff- The staff was great! Professional and efficient. All of our gamemasters were wonderful: Nick, Dallas & Sam. Jazz at the front desk had especially stand out customer service and really knew how to handle a busy lobby well. Both Jazz & Sam made our experience just a little more special by their positive energy, conversations and taking time to answer our questions. The Experiences- 30 minute Captain Maniacal robot game: This game was by far my favorite of all of the games we played because it was logical, fun, flowed well and everything worked. You have 30 minutes to solve puzzles, gather the parts of a robot, put it together and bring it to life. I love the audio in this game I enjoyed the robot. The props were well made. Overall, I had the most fun in this game. We escaped an 11 minutes but we have a lot of experience playing Escape Rooms so usually when we head out quickly, it's a good sign that the game as well designed. The Gift (Christmas): We didn't realize they had updated the gift for the holidays so we booked this while in the lobby after hearing other guests talk about it. It has a cute story about saving the north pole (a literal candy cane shaped North pole that you must rescue from a locked case). I enjoyed the theme on this one a lot. I also really liked that they included Hanukkah and had references to holiday movies included in one of the puzzles. This would be a fun game to bring the family to celebrate the holidays. I do think the puzzles in this game might be a bit too advanced for most young kids so I'd recommend ages 10 and up. The Fair: Really fun environment. A lot of physical puzzles. Kids of most ages would have fun in this game because more activity based than puzzles. Unfortunately we had some tech issues that made our experience a little frustrating. The set & flooring does give the game a bit of a run down feel. Location- It's in a mall. There's lots of parking and chargers for electric cars. Watch out for bad drivers while in crosswalks. We went the weekend after Black Friday so it was very busy. They are down the block from a club that was playing WAP loudly around 11pm and we saw a parent making their kid cover their ears as we journeyed back to the car so if you are book a late game on the weekend note the club plays edgy music IJBOL Temperature - Yeah it's getting chilly but remember you will be moving around and physically doing things and the room can feel a bit warm so wear layers. Completed The Gift themed escape room today, and it is my second time back at Red Door Escape Room. I enjoy the creative puzzles and variety of locks and ways to obtain codes overall, but some of the technical aspects of today's game were a big letdown. As soon as we got into the room, we noticed that the screens used to deliver clues and show our times were shut off, and they continued to be off for all three rooms that we unlocked throughout the escape room. We made several comments and waved at the monitoring cameras, telling our game master about the screens being off, but there was no response. During our very last puzzle, we were tinkering with it but not quite there, and the game master gave us a hint through the screen, but we only heard the sound cue from the screen, with nothing actually showing up because the screen was off. The game master then came into the room to turn on the screens, and when she did, we asked if she could hear us and see us inside the room, to which she replied that she could. I am just unsure how she could've been watching and attending to our game without seeing and hearing the multiple (5+) attempts to alert her that the screens were off and that we couldn't see the time running out? Thankfully, we have all done escape rooms before, so we didn't need the hints and were doing well on time, but it was frustrating not having a grasp of how much time was left to complete the room. Additionally, during the game, we solved a puzzle, and due to our past escape room knowledge, knew that some mechanism must have been triggered and released some clue/item, but the mechanism was either not working or not reset properly, so we only knew to go digging around the object to find the hint that was not dispensed due to prior knowledge. Nothing that was so egregious that we absolutely could not have played, but I could see how someone with no escape room experience could have been hung up on that part for a while and get frustrated. Overall, it was a fun escape room, but I do feel like the fact that I spent over $40 on the experience does warrant more attention to the technical aspects, especially the screens being on displaying the time remaining, and the fact that the game master was not attentive to us telling her multiple times that they were off was kind of disappointing. read more

We scheduled my daughters birthday at this place, and informed them their would be 10-15 people. We should up with 14, and they advised they could only do 10.... Paid $263.81 for nothing, as we went down the street and just had a lil something at the pizza place. Really sad tbh, and seeing the disappointment on the kids faces who had to all go home early was not what we had in mind. From the moment we walked in the door you could see the staff was very unorganized, leading us to a room, not showing us where the remotes were for the e music, dirty tables, and seats from the prior party. (DIRTY) I did file a claim with Chase, in an effort to get some money back, but don't expect much to happen from that. We used to schedule all our work events here, but after this encounter I've sent mass emails to all our distributors, and clients to avoid this place. Do yourself a favor, and try another establishment, one that offers an organized event schedule, and who has options to make your party work no matter what! Some friends were in town and we were looking for something fun to do. We were walking around The Collection and decided to try out an escape room. There were 6 of us, walked in around 2:45PM on a Monday, and almost all the rooms were available. Decided to go with The Gift. We had so much fun! We escaped! Our Game Master, Jazz, was awesome. Super friendly and was open to our silliness. The employee at reception was great too. I unfortunately didn't catch his name. All the rooms are part of the same universe, so that's a perfect reason for us to want to come back and see how all the rooms tie in. Overall, I'd definitely come back to Red Door Escape Room! I went with a new team of people here and we tackled their hardest room, Confinement. I was pleasantly challenged to problem solve in new ways using props and clues in ways I haven't before with other escape rooms. Their pregame is very streamlined and the game master is responsive when you need assistance. Their rule for clues is also fair in my opinion and helps those who want to finish the room rather than chase a score which makes it a bit more appealing to all types of groups. read more

This was such a fun experience for my friends and I! Such a great triple/double/single date idea for parties big and small. Such an easy process too of ordering and reserving the room online! Be sure to book a few weeks in advance, the weekend time slots could fill up quickly so plan ahead with your group! Easy parking outside and lots of other stuff to do in this busy plaza. Once we checked in we were able to fill out some online waivers through the convenience of our phones. The check in process was quick, easy, and convenient! There is a locker with a key that you can put all of your belongings into, since they want you to be present in solving the mystery and escaping the rooms. Apparently each of the rooms have some whole big interconnected story so our game master Jas explained and let us know if we do more rooms in the future, we could understand a bigger plot! Came for a birthday celebration and we did the Fair Game room. A pretty easy room and a suitable theme for little children. Might be a bit hard for the children (below 12) to figure some things but should be still enjoyable nonetheless due to the theme of the room. For those unfamiliar with how the process works here, you can choose to order in person, online, or through the phone. Once booked, fill out the waiver and follow the game master for an introductory video to their rules and the premise of the room. The Fair Game relates to a circus and you are trying to obtain the "sight" to escape. Several puzzles and minigames are within the 3 sectioned room which you will unlock progressively as you proceed to escape. There weren't too many red herrings or extra fluff to throw you off in this room in my opinion. Some clues are straight forward to tell, while others require a little bit more thinking. In all, it was an enjoyable med-difficulty room. There was only one part of the room that we were all blind to and couldn't figure out. But we somehow circumvented it without needing to solve it luckily. Good room for a group of people that have never done an escape room or people that have done plenty and want to introduce their friends or others to an escape room. We ordered online and the process is much easier than in person. We were even able to add a person into the room last minute luckily. Our game master Nate was wonderful and hope to partake in my games with them in the future. read more

We just completed the Fair Game room. Before starting we were told to press a button for hints but not that we could directly ask them to pause a game if something was wrong. We were on the last puzzle a solid 10-15 minutes before the end of the game and had used one clue. After repeatedly trying to put the last word into the final lock- including me repeating the correct clue multiple times we ran out of time as we tried to find other possible (incorrect solutions). A different game master than we started with came in to tell us we ran out of time - and said we should have just yelled to the cameras the lock wasn't working. If anyone had been monitoring it would have been clear we knew the clue. Extremely frustrating to pay $80 and be foiled by a broken lock and game masters that weren't paying attention and were nonchalant about the issue . Prior to this we were planning on coming back but based on failure of staff to pay attention and the lock, we won't be back. read more

Our family escape adventures lead us to Red Door today and we were excited for another road trip and new escape rooms. We tackled 3 rooms today; "Prison Break, Once Upon A Time and Faire Game." First and foremost I highly, highly recommend Faire Game to any escape room enthusiast that has not done it. The room is so much fun, it's very different from a traditional escape room and there is just so much to take in and enjoy, it was fun from start to finish. Once Upon A Time is a great setup. The ambiance and decor is just awesome, we really enjoyed that room. There are definitely some out of the box thinking puzzles in there and we got stumped a couple times but luckily the GM was there with a quick save to keep us moving, we enjoyed this one quite a bit. Prison Break unfortunately will go down as one of our least favorite rooms we've done. The setup in the room is great, really like the environment however, the room is non-lateral and it's very difficult to even figure out what to work on at times, we spent a lot of time just walking around looking for something, anything that we could try to solve the room felt confused to us and very difficult. There were also 2 mechanical failures in the room that halted any progress we were making but the GM helped us out and was very apologetic about it. The staff was great, communicated with us very well and they were all very friendly and polite. Overall we had a good experience, I think we'll go back one day when they add some new rooms. 2/3 fantastic rooms is a pretty good score of us. When you travel around and do as many rooms as we do you'll run into an iffy one once in a while and Prison Break just didn't work for us. read more

Hmmm... the price is a little steep to be put in a room and figure out to get out :D You'll pay a little over $80 for 2 people. That's a typical "date night" price elsewhere and it includes dinner and drinks. You'll walk in and you're charged up front. Then you'll be asked what room you would like to join. We did the "prison break". The room gets warm and you'll start sweating because, it's hard to get out! Lol! Look for clues to unlock the locks on the wall. You'll need to take the guns with you. Take everything you find with you. When you get to the gun wall... good-luck! I told the girl they need to fix the gun wall because, we had everything together the "secret video" did not pop out for us. Overall, it's weird. Make sure you go with a big party because more than two brains are better. Haaa! Honestly, the price they charge is just crazy for this! It's a cool experience to do it once... but, I won't be back! THEN (get ready for this) they ask if you want to buy a "FUTURE" visit :D I laughed and thought that was a bit tacky! They let you buy gift cards and you get 20% off! We went as a group of five earlier today to celebrate my partner's dad's and aunt's birthdays (which are both today). The space is extremely clean and inviting. It doesn't look like much from outside but there are a LOT of different rooms/stories to choose to play. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They get you in quickly, explaining things along the way. We did the "Fair Game" storyline which was super fun because there are like a lot of little games inside the bigger game. Our game master, Drew, introduced the concept by showing us a rules video and then a story video, and then we were let into the room itself. As a group of all newbies, it took us a while to figure things out, but we had SO much fun doing it! It was an awesome family bonding activity and a great way to work together and flex our minds. Each time we were stuck, Drew gave us a helpful clue to keep us going. I highly recommend this place and also recommend Drew as your game master! He told us that all the stories are somehow connected, so now we can't wait to go back and try out the other experiences! read more
