When the subscription club started, I was in the initial round, paying over $100 every couple of months for a long time for blind projects. Veteran family, woman, POC owned company - and cute fun. I taught friends to love them and brought several new subscribers to the business over the years. But the customer service has left me in complete (negative!!) disbelief! Unfortunately, Jolie and The Makery have lost my support. There were some super bowl Facebook "games" in February of 2022. I engaged with the posts for fun, expecting nothing. Then was notified I had won a free sign and to contact them for shipping. I did. As you can read for yourself, for over 6 months I've been told different stories while nothing has ever shipped. It's shocking because the website is full of items for sale that match the give away. Jolie and team simply needed to send something surplus they never sold and be done with it (it was a random design after all). It's become principle. Companies ask you to engage to grow their social media presence. The giveaways need to be followed through with. Especially for a long standing customer. Honestly, even letting me know the timeline or that they couldn't afford to send something would have been enough. Acting annoyed I asked didn't sit well with me - With a little communication, I would have said no worries, I didn't need anything! I have entire boxes in my garage of her projects not started as I supported for so long but never had time to do most of them. About 5-6 months after the back and forth there were items posted for sale. I simply asked if any of those were available for the giveaway never sent. My comments were deleted, I was blocked, and my messages and since been rejected. I was treated as an aggressive troll, not a customer that had been respectful and spent quite a bit of money. Simply put, The Makery uses customers to increase their social media engagement and sales, yet doesn't follow through. Support has been lost - from me. Don't fall for the "we love our customers so much". They don't. You could be taken advantage of too! Lots of similar kits from small businesses out there from great, small businesses - some even cheaper! Shop elsewhere!

Super disappointed with the staff…read more This is the first time I have every written a negative Yelp Review in my 40+ years. The experience was fine, but ruined by the service. I called before booking to ask some questions. The gal on the phone kept saying all your questions are on the website and basically was rude/short and uninterested in talking to me. One question I didn't get to ask as I was rushed off the phone was could I view from a window etc... Since my group had minors, I knew an adult needed to enter as it was on the website, but we never knew if this person would be charged as they weren't going to break anything just the required supervision. Then when we arrived (check in took a long time)... I asked if I could view in some fashion for pictures and wasn't sure if they had a window to watch from as I wasn't the needed adult going in. She very rudely said "absolutely not I am going to send you out of here when they go in." "I can't believe you don't want to go in". I said I don't want to take up space, and I am not going to break anything. She said but you can go in and take pictures/videos. I said ok wow that's so nice of you (thinking she was doing us a favor) then I asked if I want to just go for a few minutes is that ok? Can I come out. She said yes of course. Never did she say by the way you will be charged for going in even if just a few minutes. The paper gown they give you to wear couldn't cost even $1. Was it out fault to not ask yes, but with her rude attitude I wasn't in the mood to talk more and I feel like she should have said you should go in to take pictures and I will need to charge you full price FYI. It is a bummer that we had to pay for my husband as a required person even thought he didn't participate...but that should have also been communicated to us. The biggest shock was when we came out to find out that we thought we were paying for 3 (minors)... $160 and our bill had all 5 of us in it. We could somewhat understand my husband (but felt he should have been told he wasn't just a supervisor, but a participant...then he could have joined in on the fun) However, bullying me to go in and not mention the fee is crazy. That was $120 more than we had planned to pay. If when I called before I booked she would have been nice and let me ask some normal questions and answered them we wouldn't have been shocked about my husband being full price. I would have known I couldn't have viewed and could have paid to go in. I would have gladly stayed in my car for 30 mins. Also, during check in we should have been told the balance of payment then so we could have made our choices prior. It definitely soured my daughter's birthday to get this large, unexpected bill. Also, they said they would send over the go pro footage but never did. My husband spent some time totally embarrassed after in front of our party goers trying to sort out my cost. After wasting a ton of time they agreed to charge $30 to cover the cost of the paper disposable jump suit (which you know cost them less then $1. ) This place is a money grab, with no customer service. Not before, not during and not after. I can't recommend this business. The kids liked the idea. It wasn't worth the cost. The items were cheap thrift store items (as they should be),...but no reason to charge full price for 2 people that weren't told they would be and didn't join in. To say it was to cover their costs of goods is ridiculous. Lastly, they had a $10 surcharge that we didn't even know about until we saw the final bill emailed to us. This place needs better billing disclosure. Don't try calling or asking questions because she will tell you over and over in an annoyed voice "it's on the website"...which it isn't all! If you aren't going in, but a driver (adult) don't bother getting out of your car or you will just waste your $. By the way the gal running the place acts like her hands are tied and she " calls someone to see what can be done"(surprise nothing can be done)... turns out she is the owner so it's just a "show".

Darkcade - this was the group's unanimous favorite of the day. The room offered some very unique challenges and puzzles that we weren't accustomed to facing in other escape rooms and it had a very cool atmosphere. 9/10 Wrecked - a fun room that looks like it was created using old dressing rooms from a store in the mall. Some really cool ascetics in the room and the little aliens on the screen talking to us throughout the room made it fun and immersive. 8/10 Popstar Revenge - the group's least favorite of the day but still a fun room. It was a little chaotic in there and the room didn't flow as well as the other's. It had a cool atmosphere just got really confusing at some points and we got really stuck at one puzzle and our GM wasn't able to offer us guidance they just told us what we missed which was a little frustrating. 6.5/10 I wasn't impressed with our GM's, we had 3 different ones throughout the day, a different GM for each room and only one of them really seemed like they even wanted to be there. They don't get enthusiastic when providing the rooms backstory or anything they kind of just went through the motions of repeating what's written on the website and sent us on our way, it's nice when the GM is energetic and having fun along with you, makes the rooms feel more interesting and immersive. We did enjoy ourselves and we're going to visit their Westlake location in the future to take on those rooms, I'd recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for a fun and reasonably priced escape adventure.

The lifeguards acted quickly and within seconds one was on his way out, 2 more ran in and one was on standby and then the truck came with the lights and horns. It was a relief to have the kids out of the water and safe, and the guards were so fast and efficient. I am not a good swimmer, that's why I don't even go in the ocean. I trust these lifeguards 100%!

We went during free swim time from 12-4pm and it was only $10 for ages 3 and up. There's a big shallow kiddie pool with water activities and then 2 water slides on the back side of the park. There's a rec pool that maybe goes to 4.5 ft depth so it's perfect for just enjoying the water when you can't lap swim because the pool is crowded. A large picnic table area can be found in the middle of the center too so you can being lunch and snacks too. There a larger Olympic size pool on the west end of the center that can be used for lap swimming so overall it's great for all ages and swimming levels. We're planning to be here quite a bit for the summer! There's also cabanas to change into and showers to rinse off before and after swimming.

Completely unethical and unprofessional!…read more Tarrik Daou is the executive director of the Lucile Cowle Swim School (now the Daland Swim School). This man has no conscience, no ethical compass, and does business dirty to make a profit. He is unhinged, condescending, and worships money over service, professionalism, and honesty. My child is autistic and is a Regional Center client. Lucile Cowle, also under Daland Swim School, said that they would create an account with a 3rd party payer so that they could be directly paid by the 3rd party vendor with the Lanterman Regional Center. I started communicating with Lucile Cowle Swim School on March 5, 2025. It is now July 2026 (16 months later), and I have finally been reimbursed after countless calls and emails. The only way that I was paid for adaptive swim lessons was to bypass LC completely, and Aveanna 3rd-party payers conducted a full investigation to unpack their numerous lies. Dealing with this unethical company was so traumatic and all-consuming. Aveanna had to create an internal memo to no longer deal with this company because they would often refuse to respond, say they already did without turning in the necessary paperwork, and they never responded to the Lanterman Regional Center. My Lanterman Regional Center worker constantly reached out to LC/Daland Swim School, and their statements about when they responded do not align with any of the paper trail. They have made it difficult at every turn. Read my reviews. I never posted a single negative review of a business before today. I have never posted a negative review even when the service or good wasn't great because I don't want to damage a business for having an off day. However, this took 16 months of my time, and the executive director, Tarrik Daou was so nasty, condescending, and more fearful of not covering his bases when too many outside parties (not me) came with financial questions than actually providing honest, reputable service or transparent, ethical accounting. I have a long paper trail that can back up every claim I have been as opposed to Lucile Cowle, who can't keep records or even finish setting up a business account for 8 months. This is step 1 of any financial accounting. I just can't in any good conscience recommend this awful institution or Tarrik's narcissistic personality as someone you want to deal with. Please. There are other reputable swim schools who won't lie to you. I don't call people liars easily; in fact, I literally never have before in any business review. I had to come up with a long paper trail and unravel his lies because he's such an expert gaslighter; you want to double and triple-check facts to make sure the accounting is done correctly. Please take your business elsewhere. There are swim schools that actually care about your kids, not just the money that comes with it. If your child has any special needs, please stay away. Being a special-needs parent who must advocate for your child's special needs is hard; why add to your load by constantly having to unravel one vendor's outright lies? Your time is precious, and your child can become an agile swimmer at a swim school that loves children and not just sees an opportunity to financially exploit you.

We had an incredible time celebrating my daughter's 11th birthday at Escapology! The entire experience--from the escape room to the birthday setup--was flawless. The staff was so welcoming and professional, making sure everything ran smoothly. The escape room was perfectly suited for their age--challenging enough to keep them engaged. The kids worked together, had so much fun solving puzzles, and felt so proud when they completed the room! Everything was clean, well-organized, and very safe. After the game, the party room was beautifully prepared. We were able to bring in cake and snacks, and the staff helped with everything, making it completely stress-free for us. The kids couldn't stop talking about how much fun they had. It was the perfect mix of excitement and celebration. I highly recommend Escapology for anyone planning a fun, unique, and well-organized birthday party. We'll absolutely be coming back! read more

I was leaving sunset and walked by this place, the door was open so I peeped inside. I have been to a sd location and didn't know there was one back home. What I overheard was terrible and when this group left what I heard them saying was awfully rude things about the employees. It looked like they left upset but had just finished scolding the two girls at the front desk. One was taller and the other had brown and blonde hair. two men and women walked out talking about how they were going to leave bad reviews to get someone fired. I over heard "but you were, but you were bye" being said by the woman in all black. I walked by and one was clearly shaken up, they just looked at me smiled. I grabbed a flyer from the sign outside and it looks like a cool place, no one deserves to get fired over bad reviews!! some people are just miserable. We had such a great experience at Escapology in the Scooby-Doo room! Our kids absolutely loved it -- the theme was fun, interactive, and perfect for a family adventure. Huge shoutout to our game masters, Dominik and Maya, who were incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and helpful throughout. They made the experience even more enjoyable. She was incredibly friendly, patient, and helpful from the very beginning. She took the time to explain all the birthday packages in detail, answered every question I had, and made the entire process feel easy and stress-free. You can truly tell she cares about helping customers and making sure they have the best experience possible. I also want to recognize Adriana, the manager, for being so kind, welcoming, and accommodating when I asked about reservations and party options. Both of them went above and beyond and provided outstanding customer service. It's rare to come across people who are genuinely this helpful and attentive. Thank you both for making the experience so pleasant. I am so glad I got the Gold Fun pass membership and booked my kids birthday party. I will be coming regularly

Its basically a kiddy casino. You could be a hardened gamer and the machines would never give you enough tokens to even have a yellow ball. The food is good. Back then pizza was pizza and as long as it wasnt frozen it was fine. So if you like some cheesy cardboard with few calories you'll gave a good time. Wish Pasquali would make pasta though. The service is trying their best. Say Hi to Troy there. Troy tell someone to refil the ice machines.

The eating area is spacious and has plenty of tables. The food is actually better than expected - especially the pizza. Reasonably priced as well. The only slight complaint is the very young staff. All seemed to be high schoolers, and at times, they acted like high schoolers - can't really fault that though... I would recommend!

Spotlight hosted a small birthday gathering for my 5 year old. They had a bounce house and plenty…read moreof tumbling equipment to crawl around on. They thought of everything! They had crafts and arm painted tattoos. The kids and parents had fun! Crysta and the other team were very helpful, patient and entertaining. I can't wait to host another event with them. We also came back the next weekend for a Cartwheel clinic and my son had a blast! We are going to check out the schedule to see what else we can do!

I grew up coming to this place on weekends and in the summer. It's a great way to kill a few hours…read moreand a lot of fun for kids. They have a decent variety of stuff for kids of all ages. The maze and shadow room are fun for big and little kids. The dress up clothes were great fun for them as well. Lots for them to do when they finish painting, while they wait for their painted creations to dry. They don't fire the creations in a kiln or anything, but the plus side is, the plaster pieces are cheaper, and you get to take it home the same day, unlike other places where you have to pick it up a week later. We came in on a weekday summer morning at opening, so we were the only ones in the place. There was a gentleman, I assume the owner, working. He was quiet and definitely didn't want to get too involved in anything. The variety of paint colors available wasn't as good as it was years ago. It also used to be in condiment bottles that somewhat prevented the kids from squirting too much at one time. I'm guessing that they probably see a lot more paint waste without those. Be forewarned that this is the type of place where you really are left to your own devices; no one is going to sit with your kids and give them tips on painting or anything like that. You will want to try to talk your kids into really filling in all the white space. The glossy spray that they use to "finish" them doesn't stick to the plaster if there is not paint on it. The facility is in some need of maintenance. There were lots of signs on things letting you know that a machine is fickle and only takes certain quarters, which you can get up front, or the sign on the women's bathroom saying "Bathroom door doesn't lock. Use men's." Um... okay, or you could just run to Home Depot in the morning before the store opens, pick up a new doorknob, and replace it. Yeah, it takes time and money, but my guess is that the doorknob lock didn't break this morning. Sign looked like it wasn't recently made. Moreover... there are two single stall bathrooms, why is one men's and one women's? They should just both be unisex, since that is what is suggested. Other than a bit of laziness on the part of management in terms of maintenance, it's a fun place, and the kids had a fun morning, which was the goal, for a lot less than I'd have paid at somewhere like paint a dream.

The process of painting is way more convenient than other places and the face painting is quick, easy, and fun (and the designs are great too!) I was very sad to hear that their facility closed a few years ago but grateful that they are still doing events and parties. A small thing that I would recommend is start accepting cards because not everyone carries cash. On that note, the prices are very reasonable. Thanks for the wonderful party!
