My wife and I came here with some friends awhile back. While it was fun, we have been in far more immersive rooms. At the time they had an incentive program to come back and do more of their rooms that one of our friends wanted to earn ... though they lost interest after doing 2 of the rooms. One that we did, fairy tale, had some broken items, there was scrapes and such on the wall, and things we needed missing. We ended up having to push the help button multiple times to get our helper to realize we were missing items. Hopefully they have fixed things and improved, though with so many escape rooms that are better in the area it's hard to justify coming back to ones that don't keep their rooms maintained. read more

What a fun activity! I didn't have a great time at the last room from a different company bc it was too hard but this was awesome. Tbh I don't think I could've done it by myself because it was still challenging but at least I felt like I helped by finding items. Specifically for the "Confinement" themed room - a majority of the time you are struggling and eye straining to solve puzzles that require more visibility. I was with a leadership group and we had just taken a DISC assessment, this game revealed the leaders and we all were in certain areas. There's a few rooms, you can do this with family,friends, girls night couple dates, etc. The location is great, the owners are amazing, the staff is super fun and helpful. The parking lot is open and very spacious. This would be my 2nd time not escaping hahhahahhah. 1 in Oklahoma. But this time, we just couldn't get that last stick right. I asked an employee in the control room to adjust the temp, he said there was nothing he could do. We had a work event here and we had such a blast. This is a good team building exercise for a reasonable price. If you have a big group, you will be split up into 6-8 people for each rooms. We were in a group of six people for the Once Upon a Time room with a 25% rate. It was one of the few successful rates but we made it out with 4 minutes left! HA! We got frustrated in the last room because we asked for a hint and they gave us one that we already got. They heard us said it and quickly gave us a different hint. The place is located inside the building with other activities for kids (trampoline, pool, gymnastics) they are upstairs so just walk up. The room we tried was great in theory, but the execution could have been a lot better. We were told in the beginning that there would be walkie talkies to communicate with each other, which was fine. However, the walkie talkies weren't working half the time, and mine died in the middle of us solving riddles. Despite the game master showing us how to use the devices, we spent the first half of the hour figuring out how the walkie talkies worked. Once we met in the main room, we were solving the room just fine until we got to a puzzle that required a virtual keyboard projector. The projector did not work at all and we couldn't finish the room because of the faulty technology. Nothing wrong with the room or the staff, but the items given to us felt like it was meant for us to lose. read more

I've been to escape rooms before and they're always super fun! They have a riddle that if you successfully solve, you'll get an extra two clues for your room! We were a large group so we did the room that's splits you up into two rooms and you have to work together with your other team to get yourselves out. I did the Prison Break story with my siblings for my sister's birthday and, not only were the staff very friendly and welcoming, but the area itself was very tidy, neat, and organized. This specific location that I went to was lovely but I'm sure all the other places are, too. Will definitely be coming back to do all of the storylines as they are exciting, interesting, and really make you think outside of the box and be creative with your thinking. Red Door (RD) is the second best escape room I've experienced. The best was at The Escape Game (in Austin; I think Dallas has one too). Not to take anything away from RD though, because "The Gift" room at RD was a lot of fun. The clues were challenging, but not ridiculously so. In fact, almost everything about the room was relatively intuitive, with no stupid leaps in logic to figure things out. But there were a couple aspects that I don't think we would have ever figured out if clues were not provided, but other than that, there was an obvious logical progression through the different aspects of the room. I've done escape rooms where the group didn't manage to "escape" in time, and I've done escape rooms where the group got out with plenty of time left. But RD was the first escape room where I escaped, but barely at that. The "we're not going to make it!" feeling was palpable with all of us. So when we did make it out with literal seconds to spare, hearing "All I Do Is Win" (upon pressing the button) outside was all the more satisfying. Barely succeeding at something, and then beating our chest proudly like there was no doubt in our minds about our success; what's more American than that? Also, some cool incentives for people who frequent RD more often, including things like additional discounts, and then eventually you get access to all of the escape rooms for free or something. After tax and everything, it came to $34.64 per person. Slightly more expensive than other escape rooms I've been to, but not terribly so. All said, I would try RD again. read more

My son attended a birthday party here. They had a party room and later did a 60min escape challenge with multiple rooms. The "mission" came with a complete story and everything to make it more fun. They had a party host and since they were young kids the host assisted them with hints if a clue was proving too difficult to handle themselves. or if they could not reach something he would get it. this kept it fun and moving so they children did not get too discouraged. We successfully completed in the allotted time. We did this room with just our 5 and it was way more fun. We thought that Taken was put together very well. My family and I did the room "Confinement," which is Red Door Southlake's "scary room". Without giving spoilers, I feel that it is important to say that if you have ever had an abortion or a miscarriage, you should avoid this room. Those themes are heavy in this room, and there is no warning ahead of time. It warranted more than the usual "Hey, this room is scary" warning- it could really blindside someone and take them far, far backwards in their grieving process. Nobody needs to be reminded of their past traumas while locked in a spooky, dimly lit room with shrieks and pounding noises coming from the other side of the door. Now, a plot spoiler (no clues): this room has an obvious political slant, the message at the end being that "If you've had an abortion, you are the villain in your own story." There were a wide range of political opinions in our group, but we universally agreed that this made us uncomfortable. An escape room should be fun, not use the trauma of others as entertainment or to make a political, religious, or moral statement. On to more technical stuff: this room entirely consisted of looking for clues and solving riddles to open combination locks. I personally enjoy rooms with a wider variety of puzzles to solve. I will say, though, that the room is well maintained, and the staff was great. Our game master was friendly, helpful, and attentive- she earned the second star! I will start by saying my wife and I have been to many different escape rooms in Dallas, Phoenix and LA. This is one of the best around! We have been back 4 different times with different groups. We have escaped 3 out of 4 times. The production value, themes and stories are top notch. The hardest one we did was taken. I would rank that one a 9/10 for difficult. That was really tough. You need really good team work there since you start in different rooms. My suggestion there would be if you are are playing with people you don't know split the group up so you know someone in the other room. We took our kids to Once upon a time and they loved it. The clues were a little easier but it was a really cool story and rooms. I would rate this one 4/10 for difficultly. Confinement was a pretty scare type one. I don't recommend this for children or people that don't like haunted houses. This is the first one we did here and we loved it. Great Story and flow to this one. I would say this is 8/10 for difficulty. When we are back in town we will either try Prison Break or the new one, the gift. This place is a lot of fun if you have a group or you can go and join someone else group. The experience here is very rewarding and worth the price. read more

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that a few of the groups had missing clues and had to call in the staff to solve it since all the pieces weren't there. I thought it would be cheesy and was dreading being in there for an hour but it ended up being challenging and interesting and the time flew by. I only wish we had escaped! But everyone had a good time and it was true team building as people had to use different skills to solve the puzzles - spatial, musical, mechanical, creativity, you name it! YAY! First to review! :) This was a very unique and fun team-building/group experience for me and my friends! I would definitely recommend The Escape Room to anyone who is looking for a good time doing something interactive. Definitely a great option/alternative if you feel like doing something else besides a movie or a concert on a weekend. Everything is indoors so you also get to beat the heat! We did Entrapment first the day we went and it was so much fun and challenging, the group I was with wanted to play Confinement that same day too! We got out of Entrapment in about 43 minutes, but didn't make it through the very last clue with Confinement to free ourselves. Entrapment was a bit easier than Confinement regarding the complexity of the clues, but I would definitely say that Confinement is much more eery and will raise your goosebumps to another level if you're brave enough for it. A fun way to spend an hour with family or friends! We escaped - with about 9 minutes left on the clock. I've been dying to try an Escape Room since I've first started seeing them pop up in other countries I travel to. A few days ago I finally got my chance! I reserved the "Entrapment" episode for my family, a total of 6 of us - none of us ever having done an escape room before. Every room has a theme or story surrounding it, but the premise is the same: find clues and solve puzzles to get your way out of the room. You'll be assigned a game master and in our case, our game master communicated with us through a computer, by populating messages on a screen. He helped guide us through some issues we had that seemed particularly confusing, without giving it away. If you get stuck, you're allowed to ask for help from your gamemaster, but you only get 3 clues before they start docking your time. We used all three clues, but out of the three, I felt we only truly needed one - the other two we probably could have figured out eventually. There were a variety of puzzles in the room, none of which were particularly difficult to solve...but if you want to escape within 60 minutes, you'll need multiple people working on different puzzles, and you'll need to communicate!!! I don't remember actually solving any one puzzle on my own, as they all seem to intertwine. For example, you need the solution to puzzle A to solve puzzle B, so if I was trying to figure out puzzle B and someone solved puzzle A, suddenly puzzle B made more sense. I'd definitely recommend getting a group together if you can rather than being paired up with strangers. There were times where we had to be, well, pretty frank with one another...and it'd be more difficult with someone you don't know. There are a few ways this business could improve. First, although the theme was interesting, we found that the room itself had very little to do with the theme and we weren't sure what us escaping from the room had to do with the story, or whatever happened to the main character. Secondly, we had our photo taken after we escaped, and I wish I had them take one with my camera. They said it'd be posted on their website but I have yet to see it (on their website or Facebook?). Finally - it's expensive if you're taking a group - I paid $167 for a group of 6. That's definitely pricier than a trip to the movie theater. However, if you're paying your own way as a part of a group, $28 seems more tolerable for an every-once-in-a-while type of thing. I'd definitely do this again! read more

I'm torn ... I lucked out and my first escape room experience was with an outstanding company so maybe my expectations are to high. Our first game somehow the system put us in a different room than we booked and they couldn't put us in the one we booked cause it had been booked from underneath us. The staff was very nice about it but it seemed odd. We gave them another shot but with the two rooms we have done I've seen so much scratched up, a few broken item that were needed for the game, and the one that was a split room contest between the two rooms the walls were paper thin to where we could hear the other team and they could hear us. There doesn't seem to be much room to walk up and book so I recommend booking in advance but they have better come back deals than the other room places I've been too. I think we will be back because some of my group seems set on finishing all the rooms for the red key. Maybe it will be better in the other rooms they have to offer. read more
