    Sweet and savory baked goods

How in the world does this place only have 13 reviews? My friend lives nearby and knew I had to check this place out when I came to visit. She was totally right. The selection of pastries, pies, cakes, quiches, and other baked goods was amazing! However, she said I HAD to have the breakfast galette since they don't have them every day and sell out pretty quick. The galette was not only delicious but a MONSTER as well. It's filled with potatoes, onions, peppers, and topped with an egg. The crust was nice and crunchy on the outside too. I was absolutely stuffed after having one. I only wish I lived closer so I could try all of their goodies!

Truly incomparable, not just for Vermont, but really anywhere. We don't live in Vermont, but have a lot of ties there so do end up spending quite a bit of time in Saint Albans every year, and Red House Sweets is a must stop for me every time. I get so excited just thinking about the next time we can stop in. The pastries are impeccably made and gorgeous. I haven't found a croissant I enjoy more than the ones from RHS. My most recent visit introduced me to the Kouign-amann, which might be my new favorite pastry. The bread, the quiche, the danishes, the muffins, the rolls, the desserts -- you will not go wrong with anything here. Their partnership with Catalyst Coffee next door is genius, because the only thing that makes these baked goods better is being able to enjoy them with a coffee.

Tempting. Very tempting. Freshly baked croissants and other treats in the morning connected to the Catalyst Coffee Bar next door make for a double morning winner. Convenient to the Hampton Inn just across the street.

The ham and cheese croissant from this place is to die for!! The cinnamon bread is delectable. We also tried and apple tart and the lemon square... both were perfectly executed. I would love it if this place and the coffee shop opened a bit earlier (before 8am on the wknds pls?!?) but I'd wait till any time of day to grab these treats to share with my fam. Bon appetit!!

Always excellent. Maybe the best bakery in St. Albans; certainly one of the best in Northwestern Vermont.

We had a satisfying lunch here after walking around Isle La Motte…read more The variety of items in the display case was good and gave a lot of choice. Two people had the ham and cheese pastry which was generously filled and smelled great. I had a small Hawaiin pizza. The pizza crust was an obviously pre-made crust complete with the holes all over it that those types of crust typically have. It wasn't a fantastic crust BUT it was prepared well and not dried out. It was soft and bready and the rest of the toppings were great including the ham. We had 2 Heath bar cookies and they were absolutely top-notch. I would definitely go back here for the tasty well priced food, spacious pleasant dining area and overall feel. There were a few insects flying around the room the day we were there. They are probably tough to keep completely out of the room in spring but they are off-putting for sure.

Delicious display of desserts. Baked breads available. And different items throughout the store. I and a couple others ordered Phillys with a side of mac. My Philly was seasoned well, good amount of cheese, bell peppers and onions. It was on white bread and wrapped in foil. The mac was thick and creamy. Texturally the pasta was slightly chewy and the cheese sauce was thick. It coats your tongue. I believe it's a white mac (vermont cheddar, most likely. As it was sharp and slightly sweet). It was packaged in a 4oz to go cup with lid. I also picked up a magic bar and a cinnamon roll (not pictured). My only complaint, is when a co-worker went an hour later and ordered the same thing, her sandwhich looked better. It was double the meat and her bread was toasted. So there seems to be a bit of inconsistency depending on who makes the sandwhich. I'll post pics of both sandwiches.

My Philly on plain white, not toasted. I was not asked if I wanted the bread toasted. I don't know if another type of bread was available.

Everyone was thoughtful and friendly, without being over the top. it is obvious they care about your experience, want you to feel comfortable, and take pride in their work. The atmosphere is cozy and full of great energy. Every detail feels intentional. I especially love the wall art that the owner's friend made for them and the cute dishes they served their meals on. The food was absolutely incredible. We started with the onion tart, recommended to us by the wait staff, and it is definitely a must. Every entrée was excellent, especially the char. Everything felt well prepared and was beautifully presented. Dessert wrapped up our experience and was just as impressive. The lemon dessert was amazing, the French toast was unforgettable, and the rum ball was the best I have ever had. Every person in our group was blown away by this experience. I had heard this place was amazing and now see what the hype is all about. We will absolutely be back.

For starters we had the coquilles St Jacques, and onion tart. OMG! Best I have ever had. Likewise, for entree we had braised beef gnocchi and trout almandine. Again, nothing but praises! The service is impeccable. The chef brought out our entrees and our waiter, Spencer was both knowledgeable and pleasant. The ambiance is French cafe/bistro. Music was the right volume and selection to enhance the experience. Will definitely return. Great place for a date night or special occasion.
