I wish Yelp! allowed six stars! Tonight I had the best fried chicken sandwich I've had in years, and quite possibly ever. I spotted Red Light Chicken on Yelp! while trying to find a new place to try and headed over to Lincoln Park to check it out. I ordered a hot & honey chicken sandwich with truffle fries, then added some nuggets after my husband called saying he decided he wanted chicken after all. First, service here is great! The very awesome gentleman that took my separate orders made sure they coordinated cooking everything so my two separate orders got done together (and they did). Everything was cooked to order and well worth the wait. The food was simply phenomenal. My chicken sandwich was perfection: the chicken breast was very juicy, the coating crispy and light, and the hot & honey sauce was delicious and not too much, beautifully balanced in spice level and sweetness. On top of all this, the bun was just the right thickness, not too much bread and not too little. The nuggets were also great, and huge! Finally, I loved the truffle fries. They were nice and crispy with a good level of salt and yummy truffle flavor that didn't overwhelm the flavor of the fries themselves. I'm already dreaming of when I can go back to Red Light Chicken. I'm pretty much ruined for any other chicken sandwich at this point, and it will be my first choice from now on! read more

I tried the hot as well, but was pretty happy with my hot honey!! It was so tasty and the perfect hot/sweet combo! The hot has Tabasco/vinegar type flavor, so I think the honey balances it out perfectly! Chicken was juicy and crisp, so you can't ask for much more! I got the chicken nuggets and a LaCroix original. I liked the quality of the chicken, but the breading and seasoning weren't really my taste--I would have preferred both more seasoning and breading. There were drinks in a fridge available to purchase (not a soda fountain). We were able to stall in the alleyway in a small parking lot behind the shop, and I got my order very quickly. The menu only consists of three things: chicken sandwiches, nuggets and fries. Simple. Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with extra pickles: 7.5/10 Chicken was very juicy and flavorful. The bun was sweet, not in a bad way but I just wasn't a huge fan. The sandwich wasn't huge but I was definitely full after! Fries: 8/10 Reminded of McDonald's French fries in the best way ! Nuggets: 10/10 I am not nugget girl whatsoever but these are the best nuggets I've ever had !! There was a perfect balance of crunchiness and the breading they used was so flavorful !! The house sauce elevated the meal 100 percent The service was quick, attentive and kind ! The place itself is small and there is no indoor dining! Great little hole in the wall! Right by DePaul and the red line which is easy to get to and affordable food! I'm jealous the college kids have this nearby as I would love to have a chicken sandwich and truffle fries right by me. This place is delicious, the staff is friendly, and it is very affordable compared to other places. My favorite is getting the chicken sandwich with honey and hot flavor with truffle fries. Their fries are nice and hot and you can taste the truffles. I love dipping the sandwich and fries in their house made spicy Mayo. Definitely a move! HOW DID I NOT FIND THIS PLACE SOONER?! I've lived in Lincoln Park for over 4 years but recently discovered this gem last week and it's already in my top 3 favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. Not only is it affordable, but the food is absolutely incredible. Simple, not complicated, delicious. The fries were crispy, the sandwich was an elevated version of Chi-Fil-A (I got the spicy) and their nuggets were generously-sized with great sauce options. Their truffle fries have actual specks of truffle in them - not cheap truffle oil. Not to mention that they fry their chicken and French fries in tallow (a HUGE W for people trying to be conscious of inflammatory seed oils. It's also just super tasty compared to other fries I've had). Another bonus was that the staff was friendly and the service was quick. The restaurant isn't meant to be sit-in, but they have some nice benches outside to stand and eat your quick bite. I can't believe I didn't find this place sooner. I thought I would never get over the loss of Devil Dawgs at this location but Red Light Chicken certainly has made up for it! The chicken sandwiches here are excellent. I had the Hot Honey and my wife had the regular chicken sandwich. We both enjoyed immensely - the chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy and the spice on the Hot Honey was a perfect heat. A shout out on their fries with the spicy mayo as well. Super fresh and delicious. I would like to call out the owner as well. He was extremely friendly, answered all my questions and offered great advice on the menu. I ordered the Chicken nuggets and fries and didn't have a drink so ordered a can of soda. The service was very well shown for all customers including myself. I was given a choice of numerous dipping options and he individual who served me snuck in some house mayonnaise. It didn't take too long for the order to come out and when it did I took my first bite. immediately I understood the chicken was very well cooked and made to order. It didn't, at all, taste like it was was just reheated. It was a very good clean consistent taste with the batter leaving a good fulfilling aftertaste. The french fries were also good, but tasted like any slim french fries you'd get from any All-American fast food place; a good complement, nonetheless. Because of the chicken nuggets experience, I am definitely going back to try the chicken sandwich; I actually cannot wait. They serve it hot out of the fryer in a paper bag that soaks up all the grease. All I can say is 1. You have to order the truffle fries. 2. You will undoubtedly burn your fingers and your mouth because it smells so good and waiting for them to cool is impossible. 3. Definitely try their spicy aioli. 4.
