Burger, fries, and cream soda
Alyssa G.

Had time to kill in this area after a date so I dropped in for a meal. I ordered the kids burger with cheddar, lettuce, and tomato as well as a small fry and cream soda. You get to choose your own seasoning and I had Gin (spelled like the drink per his introduction) surprise me. He went with the Italian seasoning and it was exactly what I needed. Burger was flavorful even though I got it well done since I can't have any pink/raw meat due to chemo. When I go back, I'll definitely skip the fries and get the regular sized burger. The seating area is small, street parking is free on Sunday, and the decor is very themed.

If Yelp permitted half-stars, it would be a 4.5. In all my years of burger-eating, I don't think I've ever been in a place quite like this. Sure, loads of places let you choose toppings and cheese, but Butcher & The Burger takes it to the next level. You're able to choose not only a type of meat, but even the blend of beef used. Not just that, one can even choose their spice blend (with all being made in-house). I had a little fun with it, at the suggestion of the server. I had house blend beef (cooked medium), umami seasoning, goat cheese, wasabi mayo, and lettuce/tomato/onion, pickle. I also got a half-order of fries with cheese sauce on the side. Despite being a little out there, the combination ended up being fantastic. It was both a great burger and my creation. The veggies were fresh, the meat was flavorful and juicy, and the umami seasoning and goat cheese were surprisingly good complements to one another. As for the fries, these were fresh out of the fryer, well seasoned, with a pleasant, light cheese sauce to boot. Now, since you all know I'm a not-so-secret curmudgeon, some quibbles. First, while it was juicy, the patty was a little overdone and closer to medium-well. Second, the wasabi mayo was lost on me. Finally, the homemade lemonade was over-sweetened. Especially since they have simple syrup at the beverage station, it seems there's no need. Finally, I want to award massive points for the service. The individual taking my order was friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. More than that, the food came out faster than coffee comes out at some coffee shops. Thus, while one might expect me to award four stars given the experience, the service, the unique nature, and the desire to return ASAP and try some more combinations, maybe with double wasabi mayo this time, bumps this review up to a five.

I was debating on going to the chicken place across the street or to the armitage Alehouse. I was happy I made the right choice and came here. It's BYOB my husband and I walked down the street to this spot where they sell alcohol, so we picked up a 4 pack. There are alot of options on the menu, from burgers, salads, sweets. I ordered the single beef burger on a croissant with the aioli sauce on the side and OMG it was so good! Also go the potato salad and the tomato soup with a side of half size fries. Everything we got was so good no complaints. The service was good very friendly workers! The ambiance was chill loved the music they were playing. We will deff come back to try other things on the menu!

This is one of the worst pictures I've taken but the burger was super tasty and fresh. I also got the regular small fries. The fries come with a healthy portion and could probably share for two tbh. The service was pretty quick. You just order at the counter and they bring ur food to you. Definitely a casual spot with limited seating

Butcher & The Burger is nestled into a cozy corner just a block or so away from Armitage and Halsted -- far enough to be quiet, and close enough to be convenient. The interior is adorned with low frills furnishings and some chalkboards with menu offerings. On a Friday night, the small dining area was suffused with friendly chatter with an empty table here and there. The menu at Butcher & The Burger is something of a create your own adventure. The staff is happy to offer suggestions and even has some pre-made burgers posted on their chalkboard, but otherwise the contents of your beefy creation are entirely up to you. The diverse set of offerings is almost daunting. The burger that I eventually landed on was a spicy and fiery creation, and I also indulged in fries and a shake because I truly cannot be helped. The food was all quite good, although perhaps this can serve as a warning that burgers, fries, and shake was far too much for me alone.

Burger spot that's actually worth the hype! Burger was super juicy and flavor was there. Service was helpful when customizing / choosing your burger, and store had a nice rustic feel to it.

Yeah, this spot gets it. When you walk in you feel like you've gone back in time and there is little doubt that something delicious is a few minutes away. Incredible burgers, thirst quenching lemonade, and some solid steaks fries. What else do you want? (Nothing).

Please note that this review is about their location at O'Hare. I understand when buying food at an airport that it will likely be more expensive and not as good as if bought it at the actual location outside of the airport. O'Hare unfortunately lacks a lot of good places to eat, especially in Terminal 5, so I was excited to find a location of the Butcher and Burger. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. The process is that you order at the counter, you are give a buzzer, you wait for your order and then you go back to the counter to pick up your order when it the buzzer buzzes. The main issue I had is that they got my order wrong and food is mediocre, even by airport standards. Butcher and the Burger is well known for its burgers so I had high expectations. I ordered an All American Burger that came with fries and a medium Coke. I ordered my burger medium rare. However, I got my burger well done. The patty is super thin, it might as well have been a McDonalds burger patty, and it was tough and dry. To compensate for the small size of the burger, they add way too many veggie toppings. At one point, all I could taste was bun and onions. While the burger was eatable, it wasn't the burger that I order or expected. Also the French fries had much to be desired. They weren't God awful, but they weren't good. The French fries were not crispy, but soggy. The meal cost $25.42 after tax, which isn't bad for the airport, but what I was served wasn't worth it. Also, the seating is way too far from counter. They places a rather large bar between the counter and the food seating area. It was annoying have to lug my carry on further than was need to find a seat and then go back for my food.

Oh my god. This is delicious. I devoured my burger. It was fresh; it was crisp; it was so good. I highly recommend. A perfect "fresh off the grill" burger. I didn't add any flair, and it was still a great authentic cheeseburger. The steak fries are also delicious. A small serving goes a long way. About $15/person

With a cozy locals vibe, there was a mix of young professionals on laptops and families starting the morning. The bright aesethics of Mexican heritage and decor celebrating local artists make the space inspiring and energizing. The coffee was great. I got the horchata latte, which tasted even better than I hoped. I also ordered a El Chavo Torta, a deceptively simple sandwich that was incredibly delicious. I don't know what they put in the bread or what magical place they bought the cheese from, but my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot.
