Where do I start.. Takes forever to check in, are told not to order anything other than breakfast items even though they have food available "all day" on the menu if you come back, rude older woman working at the restaurant (not hard to point out), do not disturb signs hanging on your door means absolutely nothing and will open your door if you don't have the latch over (I work nights, sleep during the day), wifi has very weak signal and drops constantly, nicest part of the hotel is the main lobby. Two stars given are for the view of the hills on the east side. Very peaceful. There isn't much around here but it may be worth trying somewhere else and hopefully you'll have a better experience. read more

We did not stay there, but ate there last night. Outstanding service and food. I had the 16 oz prime rib and my wife had the rib eye, both delivered just the way we ordered. Mine came with steak fries. I could have opted for baked potato or mashed. Kary, the waitress asked if I wanted ketchup for my fries. I said yes, unless you have fry sauce. She said she could make up some fry sauce, which she did. We both got creamy horseradish for the meat. It was a little milder, than what we were used to having. My wife's mashed were Yukon Gold and very good with sour creme and butter. There was a gravy option as well. We saved some of the meat for later and shared a huge slice of chocolate cake with a fudgy chocolate sauce, two scoops of ice cream, devonshire creme, and sliced strawberries for dessert. As good or better than a home cooked meal without the prep and cleanup. read more

This was a nice place. A bit dated and feels like it could use some freshening up, but a fair price for a fair nights sleep. They do have a wired policy of cash for their holding till you checked out. I didn't get why but they gave it back in the morning, maybe we looked shifty to them. Overall I was nice, but I may look into other places if I had more time to look. read more

Camp out before staying here!!! My daughter and I were exhausted so I decided to spring for a two room suite-$170. The room was on the bottom floor and felt like you were going into a dark basement. Very outdated, dark and wanted to shower until I saw how dirty it was. I ended up wearing sandals to make it work. All night I listened to footsteps and cabinets closing above my bedroom. I realized I was right under the front desk. In the morning the ladies asked how my stay was and I was honest and told them terrible. They had no response other than they were sorry to hear that. We have yet to see our room but so far have had awful customer service. The lady at the front desk is cold and rude. Not to mention they charge a $40 deposit per room "just in case". This is in addition to the price already. I've never been so rudely treated at a hotel we are paying for, my entire family of good paying customers will not be back. read more

This is an old hotel and they have renovated it in the pretty much the same style as it was in the 90's with dark greens and reds which I like. The bathroom has granite though (which I'm sure wasn't there in the 90's). Unfortunately, there are many maintenance issues. While we were there the first room had only the bathroom lights working and rather than flipping the breaker they decided to move us since there is no maintenance person at night. We were told to wait in the room for her to bring us a key to a new room and after about 15 minutes of sitting in the dark with our luggage we called to see if she had left yet. She answered and asked us to continue to wait. We decided to go to the front and get the key ourselves. I got to the desk and she was in back apparently eating her dinner. That seriously irritated me that she obviously wanted us to sit in dark room till she was done eating. WTF? The next room we were in had some sort of intermittent loud rumbling noise coming from somewhere and we decided it was the ice machine and moved down one floor and 2 rooms over and it had the same noise. I think it was some sort of pump (pool, sewer, well?) So don't stay in 161-165 or 261-265 if you like quiet. This room also had a running toilet and dripping bathtub. And the pool had some sort of problem 3 of the 4 days we were there. If they would be more proactive about the maintenance issues and provide better customer service this place wouldn't be too bad. read more

How do they stay in business? Absolutely filthy upholstery in the bar. The chair in our room had a split in seat - stuffing coming out. Mold on the shower grout. One bath towel for 2 people- the others were thin gray things. Food was barely edible - breading on fish and chips was so tough couldn't be eaten. Cherries in the Manhatten were bitter - no vermouth at all. Two waitresses for a full house. Horrible from start to stop. I'll never go to this or any other of the Red Lion chain. Caution, the bed will suck you in for a good night sleep. Plan on sleeping a good nine hours. The hotel is older, but very clean. The restaurant food was very good. You won't walk away hungry. The view from the room was picture perfect. read more

Worst customer service I have ever had at a Red Lion. On arrival...after 3pm mind you, we received keys to a room that had not been made up from the previous night's guests...trip 1 to the lobby...was told we would have to wait until another room was made up, counter clerk didn't want to give me a room key and argued with me about it "not being her screw up" when I complained that I was already being held up getting to my room and she needed to give me s key...we were already checked in. Two more trips to the front desk to have our room keys reprogrammed, and another desk clerk attempted to lecture me about putting them near my cell phone. I had not had a cell phone anywhere near my room keys...the problem was the antiquated lock sets straight out of 1988. Nice view, and nice room for the price. Terrible customer service. read more

Where to begin...if this had been the first Red Lion I had stayed at it would have been the last! I will start with the pros. Comfortable beds, and spacious rooms. Rooms have sliding glass doors with patio/balcony with good view. This might be a con in the summer with the dog poop issue (see last paragraph) The cons start with the lounge/restaurant within the hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed here over Valentines Day weekend. We were told by the front desk about specials they were having in the lounge for V-Day. Sounded great... food, drinks, no need to drive! We went down for dinner around 630. It took us 15 minutes to be seated, another 20 to get menus, and we were among the lucky. While waiting we watched other couples around us talk about waiting over an hour for food, one couple received one meal and were told they were out of the other they ordered but could choose something else to go, comped...sitting there watching your date eat not very romantic! By 7 pm it seemed they were out of multiple items on a limited menu. All this and it was not busy in my opinion. Decided to leave without ordering. We however were dumb enough to go back the following night for a drink. Weak, expensive, and some of the worst service I have had. Rude, I felt we were unconvincing them. The last straw was when we charged our 2 drinks to our room and were questioned in what I felt was aggressive and disrespectful manner. Very unprofessional wait staff! I don't say this lightly as I am pretty easy to please and know how hard costumer service is, but some behaviors are unacceptable! Another thing worth mentioning is the amount of dog poop on the grounds. I am a dog owner and both me and my dog were made uncomfortable by the amount of poop on the lawn in front of the bottom floor rooms. If you stay and want to open you sliding glass door, request a second floor or you will have to deal with poop galore!!!! This place could benefit from placing a bagging station for its four legged friends. Honestly one of the only pet friendly places I have stayed that didn't have this for its guest. Summer time probably has a host of other problems associated with warmer temps and the amount of feces on the ground. Might even be a health and safety risk at this level. Other Red Lions I have stayed at have been so much better. The one in Bend, Oregon is definitely worth mentioning. It's staff, dog and family friendliness, and complimentary breakfast are 5 stars! That reminds me breakfast at the Pendleton Red Lion is $$$! read more

Father and I ate in the restaurant. Only ones there for majority of time. Food, a reuben sandwich, was okay. I was hungry after not eating for 12 hours, but it wasn't so good that I remember it fondly. Service was friendly, but the kitchen was slow. I lived in Pendleton when the Red Lion was new and the place to be. Now it's a shell trying to figure out what to do with its tired self. read more

Not impressed. $300 a night. Room was not cleaned. No tissues. i bar of soap to share between the shower and sink. Breakfast was a joke. First morning no one even talked to us for 15 minutes. Help looked the other way if they dared enter the dining room. Finally got our own own coffee. We were then told that it would be 45min to an hour before our food even saw the grill. It was suggested we do the buffet we did out of desperation. The people behind us were told the same thing but they were told the buffet was closed so what was there was what they got because the couldn't cook anymore food. Second day we went back to give them a second chance. The buffet had the same two pieces of fruit from the morning before AND get this . . . the SAME pieces of chopped fruit were still sitting there from at least the morning before. Gross. Unsanitary. Unprofessional. Could go on about the incompetent staff but I have better things to do. If I could post and give a no star rating it would feel more deserving. read more

Nice view. May have been better in the '70's. Lots of rat traps located around the outside of the building. Our shower had tons of dark black hair left in it from the previous guest. There are better places in Pendleton. read more

Having styayed at other Red Lions in the past, this was pretty disappoing. Our room was clean, but the whole facility is dated. However, the view of the local landscape is stunning. Beds were average, the TV was old anc crummy. The staff was helpful. At $79/night, this place is way overpriced for this locality and for what you get. read more

Well, In years past I stayed at Red Lions quite-a-bit- So I always expected A good clean place, as in the Past, What in the world has happened.. The Room was dirty. My husband and I lived there for three months while we were house hunting. Big fields and low traffic make it a great hotel to bring your pets ( pet friendly ). Food is ok. Good service. We drove up to the Red Lion in Pendleton and the entrance to the hotel lobby was closed off due to construction but there was no signage directing you where to go. We drove around the hotel and the only other entrance was to the restaurant. We got to the door and there was a piece of paper on the door that said Lobby. When you walk in you can go either right or left and again no signage. An employee happened to be walking by and pointed us in the right direction. When checking in we indicated we might want to stay an additional night and was told it wouldn't be a problem. The next morning we went to the front desk to extend our stay and were told we'd have to move rooms as someone was already booked in ours. We asked if there was any way we could keep the same room and the clerk said no. When we said if we had to pack up we would go to another hotel and she said "ok". We talked to the manager Cheryl, I explained the situation and she backed up what the clerk said. She said the room was already booked and sometimes people request specific rooms. I asked if that was the case and she said no. There are quite a number of hotels in the immediate vicinity and there are a lot of empty spaces in the Red Lion's parking lot. Now I know why. There's no substitute for excellent customer service and the message they gave us today was that they don't need our business. We'll be spending our time and money elsewhere in the future. read more
