started by waiting for help to check-in at front desk. I went to park my car near side entrance, and almost stepped in dog business left on the parking lot. Once in room, I could see the age of hotel. Filthy vents on ceiling and in air conditioner wall unit. Old light fixtures in bathroom and the shower-head looked like it needed replacing. Heard a small dog barking for over 30 min and husband had to alert front desk about the dog. (it was left alone in room) The pool was closed, so grandson couldn't swim. The hallway carpets are a bit old and the outside is a bit tired, but the rooms are in the process of renovation. The newly renovated room are reasonalby comfortable. The beds are not terrible. The flooring is vinyl plank, but looks nice and should be easy to keep clean. Rooms also have a fridge and microwave. The new TV is a bit small maybe 35". Check-in was matter-of-fact, but not overly friendly. The sound proofing is not so good. Can hear people taking in the hall and the room doors don't have soft closing. They are pet friendly and the fee is only $15 which is reasonable. read more

I'm writing this from my room at the Red Lion in Pocatello. Upon arrival it was so dark at check-in it was hard to see other parts of the room. The chandelier in the lobby must have been out of lightbulbs because they most definitely were not on. Check-in staff was nice enough. We were so exhausted from a long drive so once we got to our room all we wanted to do is veg, but to my (disgusted) surprise when I pulled back the sheets was a giant stain. We called the front desk to ask for more sheets. It took them quite awhile to bring them. Once they got here my husband and I were left to change the sheets ourselves and the fitted sheet was the wrong size. Moving on to the bathrooms... also disgusted. The photos should be self explanatory. Red Lion, you've definitely lost us as a customer. The only way to fix this issue is to use the ungodly amount of room rates you charge for this busted up hotel and make some seriously needed renovations. Refunding customers who have had a horrid experience like we currently are should be of utmost importance to you to improve your dying business. Doing this shows your customers you truly care. Comments like "thank you for the feedback" and "we'll use this to improve" are meaningless when most of the comments demonstrate the same theme; uncleanliness, and clearly no resolution. read more

Stayed there on night on July 26. The room was decent, clean and comfortable bed. But the free breakfast the next morning was a joke. They had run out of most things by 8am. I don't know how they can manage to screw up scrambled eggs, but they succeeded. Must have been some sort of prepackaged product as they were a really weird texture and taste. Even the coffee was really weak and the juice machine served watered down apple and orange juice. Guess they are cutting corners. read more

this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed my life and I'm 64 years old. There were so many issues where do I start. The rooms were not floors were not mopped the mirrors were not clean refrigerator did not work. I cut my hand on the luggage stand in the room because it was broken. The exhaust fan in the bathroom sounded going to see was very loud. We went down for breakfast and the person who was supposed to provide that breakfast decided to go home do anything so we had no breakfast. The Jacuzzi did not work and they said that they would look at it and fix it but nobody did. Bottom line this was the worst hotel I've ever stated in my life. I'm only leaving 1 star because I have to select one. I stayed in June 2024. The room was FILTHY. Dirt that you could write messages in near the window. Mold in the toilet and around the tub. The room was not serviced after our first night. Upon complaining to the same clerk who was there at check-in, he asked if we requested service. We were not informed on this requirement nor was there anything in the room saying to request service. Next day, was barely cleaned. The smoke detector was also disconnected from the wall. I would give this hotel a zero if I could. Do not go here. They sell out the pool to birthday parties. When we first arrived, they charged us $20 because we checked in one hour early even though our room was ready. Then they told us the pool was available but there would be small children birthday parties all afternoon. When we went to the pool, it was so full of kids using water guns that there was no way we could use this pool. The bar did not open till 6:00 PM. So we had to leave to go find something to do. I am staying here for two nights with my child, to attend a family wedding. Who in the world decided that the indoor pool next to the hotel rooms should open at 6 AM? We were awakened at 6:05 by children shrieking. I'm not mad at the kids because that's what kids do, but the hotel should be a little more common sense when setting up hours of operation. After all, people are actually spending money to sleep here! Even my kid complained about the noise. The rooms are nice, staff is good, and they accommodated my request to move to a quieter room. If you stay here, and you need to get a good night's sleep DO NOT get a room next to the pool, or along the hallway near the meeting rooms. Side note: I don't know if the fellow guests staying here are from Pocatello or out of town, but I've had better (more restful) experiences in New Orleans and Las Vegas. People were exercising their dog in the hallway at 11:40 PM last night. They let their kids run up and down the hall yelling and knocking on random doors. Yesterday (7/24/2021) my party wanted to check in 30 minutes early. On our way to the front desk, we noticed a section of the metal floor molding was sticking straight up creating a tripping hazard. Not too big of a deal, maybe later that day maintenance would come fix it. We get to the front desk to find out if we could check in early and we were told we could not due to house cleaning not having a list of clean rooms. Okay, that's fine. I get their check-in policy. However, we waited that 30 minutes while the front desk lady just sat on her phone and didn't even try to get ahold of the cleaning crew. Then when we were able to check-in, we got to our room and it wasn't clean. There was trash and old french fries on the ground. We had places to be, so we got ready to go and let the front desk manager know what our issue was. She had someone go and pick up the trash, but the french fries were left behind. When we arrived back to our room later that night, we noticed the smoke detector was hanging off the wall and electrical outlets were missing covers. The following morning we went to go check out and the metal floor molding now had nails that fell out lying by it. It looked as if it was tripped on. So we grabbed the nails and placed them on the counter. There were a few other issues that happened with booking, pricing, and what the website says vs. what signs they have posted in the lobby say. But what the signs say and what the workers said were two different stories. Through this experience, I felt like the manager could have followed through with what she asked her coworkers to do. I felt like our room should be off limits until the health and safety issues are addressed. We are currently in a COVID-19 pandemic. If my room still had trash and food in it, how well was that really deep cleaned for the guest safety? I would not recommend this hotel establishment to anyone. read more

I will never stay here again. Its obvious that the management doesn't care about this place. The room looked like someone tried to half ass remodel it but wasn't done. The main door lock was broken, there was mildew in the shower, missing light bulbs, broken cabinets, only one of the tvs worked, but it was broken off of its stand and someone just laid it against the back of the cabinet. We stated in the jetted tub suite,, and the tub didn't work right. This place is not well cared for, there are better options. The management obviously doesn't care at all about quality of stay. We have stayed here about 7 times as our Son went to ISU for his degree. Progressively, this hotel has declined in quality of stay. This hotel is humongous and it feels as if the staff is too small to take care of such a large complex. This facility is disrepair and needs some major repair work. Furniture, fixtures, bathrooms, and finish work around the hotel is falling apart, also has filth or mold issues. The last time......and I do mean last time we will stay here had immense mold issues. This is the dirtiest motel that I have ever stayed in. I wish I could give it a zero star. We arrived late, after 8:00 pm. The TV did not work and the room was filthy. I called the front desk and was told some one would come and address my concerns. No one came, even after several calls to the desk. I tried to find another room, but there were no vacancies. Would not stay here again. We were in town for a soccer tournament and it was one of the recommended hotels. The ONLY positive was the location to the Portneuf Soccer Complex. Aside from needing some updates, the walls are paper thin. We could hear the full conversations of people in the hall, the neighbors, and the teenagers across the hall. Breakfast was meh. We asked for a later checkout due to our game times and the front desk said it would be $25 for each extra hour and that we had to wait and call the morning of our check out day to officially request it. The top down comforter is bot washed between guests, they simply just had us toss it on the couch while we changed the sheets and out it back on once we were done. the room was air conditioned the window wouldn't shut and it was way below freezing. the heat never warmed up the room and the floors were freezing. we had a toddler that crawls and even with fleece pjs on it was so cold and his hands were freezing. they advertise that the red lion hotels are the most stringent cleaning standards. however they left Pocatello off the list on that memo. there was candy under the beds the bathroom wasn't clean.
