They use scented laundry soap, so if you are sensitive to chemical fragrance, this may not be the place for you. There is a sign on the bed that says to remove bedding before lying on it. When I did, I was bombarded with the scent of Tide. They did offer us another room and offered for the owner to bring in other sheets. When we got to the second room smelled of the chemical laundry soap upon entry. They graciously refunded our room. I was very disappointed we didn't get to experience this place. The one star is because when I complained, the clerk said they use the scented laundry soapbecause of complaints of unscented sheets. Those who are allergic/sensitive can't use them, while people that just like it can go without the smell without physical consequences. There is just no reason to subject people to those chemicals just because some people like the fake smell. There are completely serious about the 4:00 check in and charge hourly to check in early, but you have to book that ahead of time. Breakfast isn't served until 9:30 AM at the earliest. Coffee in room, but no real cream, just fake stuff. read more

We stayed in the Atlantis Under the Sea Suite at the Black Swan Inn and it was such a fun, unique experience! There are fish tanks built into the room, even above the bed and in the shower, which made it feel like an underwater escape. Every room comes with its own hot tub, and they bring breakfast right to your door in the morning, which was such a nice touch. Each suite has a totally different theme, so now I'm already planning my next stay just to try another one. Definitely a hidden gem in Pocatello! I did take one star for lack of communication. I sent in an inquiry where I was asked to email and never got a response. Otherwise would have been a 5-star experience! read more

It is rare to find a fantastic place to stay where each employee takes really good care of you. We stayed there for one night and got the most romantic and awesome theme room which was designed to be an ocean cave. It was clean, it had a jacuzzi tub, and the bed stead was shaped like a giant oyster! We loved it! Sadly, we only stayed one night. I would have loved staying longer but we were on a road trip. The day after we checked out I called because I thought I had left my hair brush there. The staff searched for over a day! It turned out, I had it all along and had misplaced it. Took a mini vacation from SLC a few months ago and stayed a night in the under the sea room, my god this is by far the COOLEST room I've ever stayed in! Check in was friendly and super easy, and you get a breakfast basket with burritos! Room was clean and beautifully decorated, everything is hand painted and built. Bed was extremely comfy and everything worked great (TV, tub, toilet, etc). The one tiny thing id say is there is patio furniture inside the room which kinda threw me off. The staff at Black Swan Inn truly saved my trip from being a horrific stay at the nearby Motel (they call it Super) 6. Black Swan was booked up so I asked if they could call me if they have any cancelations and went on to book at the nearby Motel "Super" 6 and let me tell you, it was the grossest motel I've ever been to by so far. Right when I was getting my refund from that sleazy motel Black Swan called me and offered me the Romeo & Juliet room. As I drove up I was immediately relieved and excited as the grounds are immaculate and breath taking. Every single detail it well thought out and one of a kind. Highest of quality you'll get with such a unique decor and the staff was so welcoming, kind, and friendly. They offered us a complimentary breakfast which was very good with options of different eats and drinks. The room was totally clean from top to bottom and was super thought out this all amenities one could ask for. The bed was very comfortable and cozy with the fireplace and jet tub. I would definitely recommend this amazing stay to anyone and everyone. We also had some of the best food and drinks at the nearby Yellowstone restaurant. I highly recommend both! You wont regret it and you'll have similar great memories as I do now from how top notch the Black Swan and this town is. read more

Don't pass on your chance to stay here, definitely a romantic space and the price cannot be beat. The rooms are so unique and are such a complete experience. The rates are consistent with average hotel prices, in many cases the rooms are even less than your ordinary hotel & you get so much more than your average chain luxury hotel. You can have the included continental breakfast or have delivery from a local restaurant. 2 big complete meals for $20 and that includes gratuity! We stayed in the Wild West room because that was the lowest rate and I am trying to maintain a budget, but someday I want to come back to stay in several of the others rooms especially the cave. This is a wonderful place for a getaway in the Pocatello area. The rooms are clean and the style is amazing as it changes the experience. The front desk attendant was fantastic and very kind and helpful. We stayed in the Mountain Cabin room as my late father-in-law has his moose hanging in the room. This location is worth your time if you are staying in Pocatello. Due to life taking us away from Pocatello it has been 20 years since we have stayed here but this will become a yearly event! Luxury, kitsch, and wonderful staff people, what more could you ask for? We did a 1 night stay here in the Sea Cave suite and it was delightful! The room was over the top, fun and, most importantly, very, very clean. The decor was great, figuring out all of the room's secrets was a blast (check out the second shower knob, trust me), and the hot tub was amazing! We stayed here near the end of an 11 state road trip and I picked it because I wanted something relaxing and romantic and it was both. The hot tub was divine after days of driving, the breakfast options were lovely and unexpected and the staff was what I would have expected in a far more expensive hotel. All around a great experience and wonderful place to relax for a night. If you need some couples time, time off work, or just a relaxing night or weekend away, book this place. Wow! OK, so when I entered the Google search "Unique Hotel Idaho," I wasn't expecting much, but based on the pictures and availability, we ultimately chose to rework our entire 3100 mile trip in the Northwest to stay here based on the availability of the Sea Cave Room because it looked so amazing. And boy howdy did it ever live up to our expectations! Holy hell, this room was awesome! Giant clam shell headboard inset with twinkling lights with round, king-size bed? Check! Heart-shaped Jacuzzi bath with fish-shaped sculpture faucet? You betcha! Rocky waterfall shower looking into one of two aquariums? Yes, in fact. The amount of detail that went into the design and execution of this room was mind-blowing. Everything was covered in rock-like surfaces and the time it must have taken to paint the detail fascinates me. I mean this in the absolutely most complimentary way, but this place is ridiculous. When we first walked in, my wife literally collapsed to the floor with joyous laughter. Service was very good and breakfast was delivered to our door. However, breakfast for the next day was delivered that afternoon, so I'm glad that we'd stayed in while it was being prepared so that some of the more perishable items didn't expire in Idaho's July sunshine. That breakfast has several options, so you can personalize it for your taste. You do end up having to refrigerate the items in room and microwave them at your leisure the next day, but that makes it a little more flexible as well. Idaho had been a "drive-through" state for us while we were planning our trip, but we love-love-loved this amazing, wacky, fun hotel that we left trying to thing of reasons that we needed to visit Pocatello again. read more

We got the Pirate room and it was amazing! My wife really enjoyed the bathtub and watching the live fish. The décor was very well put together and the bar top had lots of fun items to look at. The flowers ling the building were so beautiful. They sell quality soaps too. The gentleman running the place let me view a few rooms that were unoccupied. This place is super awesome! The owner and staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate and clean and we loved the music playing when we walked into the Sea Cave. A lot of personal touches have gone into the planning and constructing of these rooms. They have a "you pick" breakfast for the AM that you hand select. We would've given it 5 +++ stars but we were woken up by our upstairs neighbors multiple times throughout the night. Once at 12am, then 1am when we could hear their pipes from running a bath (super loud) and they were up running around at 4:00am as well. Probably isn't a usual issue for people to stay awake all hours of the night and morning.. so we would definitely stay here again! Thanks to the owner and staff! read more

This is a pretty unique place. It's located in an older, but classic, brick apartment house in a residential neighborhood in Central Pocatello. Each room opens to the outside as it would have when the building housed apartments. The rooms are decorated in varying themes. The owner and his wife have painted some amazing murals on the walls of each room and include sculptures and artifacts in keeping with the themes. We stayed in the Sea Cave room. It had a round bed with a giant shell as the headboard. There were aquariums in various parts of the room...next to the spa tub and also as the pedestal of a table. There were also large flatscreen TVs. They handled breakfast a bit differently. We were given the option of pre-ordering some items the night before which they would pick up from a bakery and deliver to us or we could have a voucher for breakfast at Perkins Family Restaurant not far from the suites. We were on a schedule so we decided to take the restaurant voucher as it was close to the interstate where we were headed. They have plans to continue the renovation until all 19 rooms are completed. They are also going to expand the office area so maybe they'll include a breakfast room at some point. We really enjoyed this place. read more

I gazed in amazement and awe on how it was achieved so masterfully. Not to mention it was clean and spacious with surprises at every turn. The service was astounding. So attentive and every detail was attended to. And the room.... Wow. Just amazing. We were amazed at all the little touches. Horrible hotel experience and poor hotel management. They advertise as being business travel friendly and a luxury hotel but are sorely lacking on both fronts. I called for a business rate and specifically requested the Enchanted Forest suite because it was the cheapest but was told it was booked the entire length of my stay so they offered the Egyptian at a higher rate. I agreed but when I arrived I learned the room was on the second floor and was two levels where I would have to climb down a very narrow winding staircase to get to the bathroom. I was here for a week so I had a lot of luggage and asked for help to my room since there is no elevator but was declined. They say the offer free breakfast but in my 7 days I only received it twice but back to the room. My second day there I took a shower at night (the shower was luxurious and earned the one star). After my shower I started to blow dry my hair in my second floor bedroom and it blew the fuse!! It was night so it was pitch black and how is it a luxury hotel can not accommodate a hair dryer? Even a Motel 6 can! So at this point I had to clutch the walls to wind down the pitch black curvy staircase to open the tiny window to let in moonlight so I could locate my phone so I would have a flashlight. While on my decent into the black I fell hard on my back. I finally decided to go into the hallway to try and locate a fuse box and thank goodness I did and was able to restore power to my room. I let the front office staff know that Monday that I needed a one level room, with a shower (ps most only have tubs) and one that could accommodate a hairdryer. They said there were no rooms available. My coworker is friends with the owner and called on my behalf who informed her he was losing money on me since I was under the business rate. Then why offer it? She begged and magically the Enchanted Forest was suddenly available BUT I had to agree to pay the normal rate for my upcoming Thursday and Friday nights. At this point I saw this as breaking my neck or pay $40 extra for two nights. So I agreed. They did move my belongings downstairs since I insisted. The looks of the Enchanted Forest are wonderful but my first night the refrigerator froze along with my medicine in the fridge. I called the next morning and asked for a new one but had to wait for the front desk girl to try and fix the fridge with her until finally I demanded a new fridge. Here is the worst part... I just checked out yes a day early because I could not endure anymore and not only did they charge me the higher weekend rate for my Thursday night but BACK CHARGED me an additional $50 a night for my two nights in the death trap!! Who operates like this? DO NOT stay here! It failed at every turn at even being a 1 star hotel. read more

We stayed there in a Garden Suite with my wife to celebrate a special occasion.And we enjoyed it to the max , the whole place is work of art and reminded me of Europe.Took me a while to figure out all the controls, but receptionist lady was really friendly and helpful with those.It was very clean (besides some dust under TV and few stains on our sheets)and bathtub was amazing , so was the bed and stars above and fountain and a fireplace I also enjoyed all those pictures on the walls etc. Few areas for improvement , which could have been better : 1) Sauna was kinda tiny , would be nice if a person could lay there...Player was not working... 2) Fridge was tiny as well and not functioning very properly , while fruits close to the freezer got frozen , drinks on a bottom shelf remained lukewarm. 3) TV took us a while to figure ,starts from 800 mostly music channels ,movie ones go somewhere at 500 pressing guide button did not provide much guidance which channels are enabled and which are not we tried to find the information about it in a binder , but there was none and later in the morning we found a laminated sheet of paper under the actual TV with a list of channels. 4) Wi-Fi very slow and if you walk past the bedroom the signal disappears completely. 5) Breakfast cinnamon twist and sandwich could be fresher. 6) Wife noticed few visible stains on our bed sheets(before we started our celebration) Although I mentioned those 6 things we had a wonderful experience overall and there is not a similar hotel within a reasonable driving distance from Pocatello , that I know of.So I am sure we will be back to check some other suits later. read more
