I'm not sure if this is fair or not but I was disappointed. Service was prompt and efficient. Space is clean and open. My burrito is where things fell flat. Chorizo was rather underwhelming, the beans was probably the biggest disappointment. Was expecting refried and ended up with black beans (no choice provided or explanation of what they were). I feel like they've shifted to try to compete with that giant chain that is named after smoked jalapeño peppers, which in my opinion is a horrible idea, mostly because I don't like that other places burritos. read more

Stopped here on a sunny day between kids sports. Great menu selection, quick service, friendly & easy parking. We got to enjoy the patio but there's only one table so don't plan to enjoy outside. Kids menu has great selection and they offer milk, chocolate milk, soda and juices. They have beer and soda for adults. We enjoyed hardshell tacos with spicy pork and shredded beef, enchiladas and chips and salsa. The arbol salsa had great flavor and excellent heat. We've heard good things about this place so finally made the trip up from White Bear Lake for taco Tuesday. They had a great taco special for $1.35, which was a steel also got the two Timmy's plate the fish taco with corn tortillas and the Carne Asada burrito. All the food was great like a fish taco was a little bland. Got the wrong kind of salsa on it so it wasn't a ton of flavor. Portions were generous prices were very reasonable. We'll definitely be back here. Parking was simple. Only downside was the service was lacking - took a while to be acknowledged but not a deal breaker. I've been on the hunt for good tacos since moving back from Arizona, and Red Luna Taco Factory absolutely delivered! Think Chipotle-style ordering but way better meats, toppings and sauces. I tried the spicy chicken, asada, and shredded beef and all three were fantastic, but the spicy chicken had this incredible kick I can't stop thinking about. I highly recommend going with the crunchy tacos, perfectly crispy! I was in taco heaven. The prices were super reasonable actually cheaper than Chipotle! And bonus: they've got beers in the cooler, canned margaritas, fountain sodas, and a casual, seat-yourself vibe with lots of space. Next time I need to try their tres letches drssert. Nothing fancy, just really good food in a low-key setting. Red Luna is my new go-to for tacos in the metro area now for sure. Can't wait to go back and try more! read more

Fresh Mexican does not get much better!!! As a first time guest to the Red Luna Taco Factory, I did not know what to expect. When I pulled up it is attached to a gas station/bait shop so I was a little confused but don't let that deceive you. You order right when you walk in and you can watch them make your food. You also get to pick the toppings that you would like on your meal. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Once you order and pay for your food you can sit anywhere in the restaurant. The staff does a nice job of keeping the tables wiped down and it was not too busy on a Friday night. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and got a variety of toppings. The total cost was $13. Taco Tuesday, $0.99 tacos, should get everyone to leave their house and make the trip. Their shells are authentic, crispy, and small. Yes, small. Don't be alarmed if you have to order 7-8 to be full. This isn't necessarily a negative considering that's still $7-$8 to eat delicious Mexican cuisine. The taste of their shells and their HOT salsa are the differentiator. The medium salsa is great as well, but those two alone sustain a craving that I find my self routinely attempting to satisfy. If you don't like Mexican cuisine we can't be friends, cause the smothered burrito at this place is life. When you walk in you're at the order counter where they put your meal together chipotle style, you pay, then sit. The dining area is in another room, it's spacious, modern, and inviting. My husband and I ordered a smothered burrito with carne asada topped with their verde sauce, two street tacos, spicy chicken and chorizo, and super nachos with spicy pork and their hot salsa. The burrito takes some time, so fair warning there. Our tacos and nachos were ready first, for some reason they charged us for these two items, then charged us separately for the burrito when we told them it was all together. I'm hoping that was just a slip up, it would be ridiculous to charge as orders are ready. We took our ready items to the dining room. After a few minutes the dudes at the counter were yelling for us to come pick out toppings for the burrito, we returned to our seat, a few minutes later they were yelling at us to come get the burrito. I think it would be less awkward if the rooms weren't separated and you could see the counter. It would have been better service if they brought the burrito to us when it was ready. For food, I love me a street taco, the spicy chicken taco was money, the chorizo wasn't as good. The sausage was dry and bland. Super nachos were okay. I like a healthy portion of cheese on my nachos, with a sauce consistency, it was thin and missing here. The hot salsa was most definitely on the spicy level I crave, my tongue was burning, but the sauce needed acidity. The smothered burrito tho. DAMN. So good! It was worth the wait. The chili beef sauce on top blew me away. I'm glad we choose the green verde sauce with it, it balanced the richness of the chili sauce. I forgot to take a photo of it cause it took so long to prepare, but it was my favorite thing here. Dang it. Red Luna's got potential, they still have some kinks to work out, but the staff were all really friendly, and they have a couple standout dishes. I also like that each dish came with a side of tortilla chips, it's a nice touch. I hope they work out the kinks before my next visit! read more

This place is brand new and so good! The restaurant is quite large on the inside with a cute little outdoor seating area out front. Everything here is made in house and made fresh right down to the pico and tortilla chips! And they are also using local products!! When you walk in you are greeted with a digital menu and smiling faces. The orders are taken and done kind of chipotle style where you have them add your meat and whatever toppings. Be sure to ask what your options are though, as it's not very clear. Such as they have the option for a mexican cheese (cotija?) But if you order cheese, you just get what seems to be a colby blend automatically. I tried a few things to get a flavor of the place... a carnitas soft flour taco, a regular shredded chicken (they have regular and spicy) flour taco, and a puffy taco with their house ground beef. The carnitas was really quite spicy but the flavor was amazing. The chicken was yummy and the puffy taco is made by deep frying masa and using it as a shell... it was out of this world! Other people at the table tried the chorizo and said it was spicy but the flavor was great. I have to say though, that my most favorite thing about this place is the fact that they are also supporting local! The brand of taco shells they are using is La Perla. Not only is La Perla made here in Minneapolis in a cute little family run factory (I've been there), they are probably the best taco shells you will ever have the pleasure of having grace your taste buds. La Perla also sends them their raw pre cut tortilla chips and they fry them up in house, so they're always fresh!!! They seem to have a bit of the first few days growing pains as all new restaurants do... but once they work through that (and they for sure will) this place will definitely be the place to be!! read more

I've had their tacos here before and they are certainly decent tacos. This time I decided to order their al pastor platter. Honestly, the al pastor was very disappointing. The pork was not seasoned well and you can tell it was diced up before they cooked it, making the pieces super dry. The pineapples looked charred up and the brightness of the pineapple was no where to be found. The rice was virtually tasteless, no flavor just a color. It came with my choice of black beans. Nothing special about the beans, but also pretty tasteless. The corn tortillas were at least good and still hot when I got home. It came with a small side of Pico de Gallo and in my opinion, you definitely needed more as it was the only burst of acidity. Overall the food was bland and could have benefitted from having all of the components being seasoned a lot more. I think you should stick to the tacos and skip the platters. read more

Best taco I ever had. I love the variety to choose from. The hard shell is my favorite and it isn't from any store bought box. I like a simple, spicy ground beef with lettuce tomatoes and cheese. I loved it so much I brought something home for dinner. Basil loved the shrimp fajita. The refried beans were tasty and I usually pass on these. A nice guacamole with tomatoes and very visible cilantro, delicious. I got cheese enchiladas and they don't tend to heat up well and should be eaten on the spot. A good variety of Jarritos sodas, and the grapefruit one washed everything down perfectly. I like the set up and the friendly, helpful staff. Very disappointed in my experience with red Luna. I really wanted casa lupita which is the sister site to this one and is the original shop, however they are closed on Monday's so I decided to try red Luna thinking they can't be much different I was wrong! I ordered a veggie burrito, a carnitas burrito and a taco plate with ground beef. Both of the burritos literally were only rice and beans and pinches of the toppings I wanted. Even my veggie burrito which the toppings are all I get in it, had no toppings. The meat on the other two I was told was very bland and again even with the tacos the distribution of toppings was not even and a poor amount. The salsa verde was also not as good, and the woman checking me out looked at me like I had six heads when I questioned that I had to pay for extra sauce on the side when they hardly put any on the burrito. Overall, I will not be back and I 100% recommend driving to casa Lupita, you will get a way better experience and decent food for your money. read more

These are quite possibly the best tacos I've ever had in my entire life. I'm not a crunchy taco fan, but you have to get the crunchy tacos. If you don't, you are really missing out. I got the spicy chicken taco. I tried one with the regular flour tortilla, and one with the crispy taco.
