Came here for lunch today. We were able to get right I. They do offer a lunch menu but we decided to order off the regular menu. Worth the extra 30 minute trip from Mall of America to this GF Gem Gluten free orange chicken was SO GOOD . It's so hard to find fried GF options we had to get seconds to go! This was a great spot for fusion Asian cuisine - a combination of Vietnamese, Thai and Chinese! They also had a great selection of wine, beer and specialty cocktails. We had the Spicy Oyster Chicken wings for our appetizer and it's a must try! It was so savory and delicious! I had the Vietnamese noodle dish with eggrolls and grilled beef. My husband had the Ginger Chicken. Both dishes were very good. The server was friendly and our food was out by the time we finished our appetizer. The atmosphere was lively and fun. Just stopped in for a quick bite while shopping. The sweet sour chicken was very tasty. The sauce was just right and a decent amount of the chicken, pineapple and veggies. As a Vietnamese-American, this place serves more Americanized food items. You're not going to find breaded chicken entrees like sweet and sour, orange/lemon chicken, or sesame chicken in any authentic Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant. I came here with my in-laws for dinner to celebrate my birthday so I can't argue with a free dinner! It was a selected restaurant due to the gluten-free options that my sister-in-law prefers. Service & Ambiance: Our waiter was attentive. The place was busy when we went on a Saturday at 5:30PM. I noticed a bar on one end of the restaurant. My in-law did set a reservation for a table of 9 people. They also have little booklet and crayons for kids, as well as a drinks in a plastic cup with a lid. My niece and nephew had pink lemonade. Appetizers: We ordered banh bao, which I was surprised to see the content as not stuffed, but wrapped like mini tacos. The chicken wings was good, the meat was juicy, the breading was flavorful. The spring roll was rolled with perfection, the peanut sauce was also flavorful and compliments the spring roll well. Entree: I ordered the bun thit nuong cha gio, though I wish I ordered what my husband ordered: Luc Lac Beef. I was surprised to see it came out in a griddle and with an egg. The beef was flavorful and tender. It came with white rice, but you can upgrade to fried rice. The egg looked raw at first when it arrived - I didn't observe if my husband ate it or not. Overall, it is an OK spot for people of White Bear Lake to get some Americanized Asian food. If I go next time with the in-laws, I'd probably order the wings and luc lac beef, but it wouldn't be my go-to spot for some authentic Vietnamese food. read more

We are from the south suburbs and had to be in the area where orchid is and decided to try them out as they are rated highly in the Find Me Gluten Free App. We got the wings which were SO flavorful, drenched in sauce, sticky, sweet, spicy, with a decent amount of crunch still in the batter of the wings. We absolutely destroyed those wings! We each got a pho and then did takeaway of an order of pad thai and one other entree (can't remember the name but it was delicious). I did not get a reaction at all so there was no cross contamination, the food came out super quick, the staff were great too. All in all a pretty perfect experience, which is so appreciated for someone who- since having to cut gluten out has a lot of food fear now eating out. You place a ton of trust into the establishments you choose & sometimes they really don't stand up to the claims or come close to what you'd hoped for and Orchid absolutely knocked it out of the park. Spicy lemon grass chicken was as spicy as a brick. The few chicken thighs pieces were overdone. Really disappointing. Fried rice was very good. Fantastic service, great food, and an overall great experience! We went for dinner at 6:00 on a Friday evening. The place was busy, but there was an open table, and we were seated immediately. Our server was outstanding! Very attentive, stopped by the table multiple times to ensure our needs were met. We had the shrimp spring rolls, which were delicious! For dinner we had the Peppered Beef, and Ginger Chicken. Both were delicious, and we would order them again. The overall experience was fantastic, and we look forward to our next visit. Very good pad Thai and Singapore Noodles and egg rolls. Good portion size and food has a good balance for spices not overly hot but not weak, the taste of the food isn't overpowered with heat. That said if you like serious heat you may need to ask for it. The restaurant has great family friendly but nice ambiance. Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. Ordered takeout from the menu, French Garlic Shrimp. The food was terrible. Greasy smelly fried shrimp. Called to comment about being given the wrong dish, the manager called me back explaining she prepared my food and it was correct. I simply asked to be credited the cost for my dinner, she was trying to convince me it was correct. In years past this dish was excellent. Since I wasn't getting anywhere I just said please forget about it. My advise, save your money it's over priced and terrible food. This has become my best friend and my new favorite meeting spot. We are both GF and almost cried happy tears to have sesame chicken, orange chicken, sweet & sour... etc. Breaded chicken was a thing of the past but now Orchid has given it back to us! The sesame chicken is just SO good. Nothing extremely different from other sesame chicken options but very good and safe for us. The cashew chicken is INSANE. SO GOOD. We have ordered it 3 times even though we want to try to work our way through the whole GF menu. Savory, slightly sweet and sticky sauce on breaded chicken surrounded by cashews, pineapple, peppers. Definitely different from other places I've tried! Sesame beef is also SO good and a great small appetizer to start with. Looking forward to many more visits to come!! read more

Been ordering takeout for years. The cashew chicken was so dry and old it had a texture of paper you could not chew through. The portions were half of what I'm used to getting. There was a strong garlic Salty flavor that my whole family is complaining of the next morning. As hard as it was we tossed it all in the garbage. My family resorted to pancakes for dinner. This is a complete bummer because the Asian cuisine was far above others but something must have changed as they always do at restaurants. This is the end of a long lasting relationship with the Orchid. This is not a cry for a gift card because it would go unused. Plenty of other new places to try. By the looks of the number of people in the restaurant that used to be packed with a takeout line out the door was 20% occupied or less. No one even at the bar. The word must be out. read more

Came here with three cranky children and everyone absolutely love their meal. Some of the best wontons in general tsos chicken that I have ever devoured! The pho is excellent; and everything arrives in massive portions. The service is top-notch and the price is great for the quality of this experience. I got the beef and potatoes meal, as recommended by a friend. The potatoes were delicious but the beef was VERY chewy and had an "off" flavor. As a result, I only ate the fried potatoes.
