I got the beef and spring rolls vermicelli ($12.95) with no bean sprouts and no fish sauce. They were kind enough to offer me an alternative sauce "brown sauce" or "peanut sauce." I went with the latter and it was a little too strong in hoisin flavour for me, but I found it good in small amounts. Honestly, the beef was so well marinated and flavoured that I didn't even really need any sauce. The portion size was great. I was stuffed silly after finishing the bowl. If I wasn't such a glutton, it could have eaten half and easily saved the rest for dinner. The beef was sliced really thin, but I got a good amount. It was lean with no fatty nor gristely bits, yet it wasn't tough nor chewy, so I was a very happy camper. I loved the marinade, it was a bit sweet and very umami. Lots of flavour. The pork spring rolls were hot and crispy. They were filled with pork, vegetables and vermicelli. They were good, despite being made with the wheat wrapper and not the more traditional rice paper wrapper that we all know I love oh so much ;) The vermicelli was hot and the perfect consistency. The vegetables were shredded lettuce, carrots and cucumbers. I think the carrots were pickled. They also sprinkled on a lot of crushed peanuts and some fried scallions, so yummy, I love fried scallions. I arrived at about 2:45pm on a weekday. The guy who served me was really nice. I think he ended his shift at 3pm though, because shortly after dropping off my food, he put on his coat and headed out the door. I didn't even realize this until as he was leaving he yelled out to me "thanks, have a great day!" He surprised me, and my mouth was full but I managed to squeeze out a "thanks!" I wish he had told me he was leaving because I would have gladly settled the bill so he would get his tip. I'm hoping he got his tip regardless. After he left, I was kind of left to my own devices as despite having people who appeared to work there enter and exit, no one seemed to take on the role of server. I didn't mind this too much because once I get my food, as long as it's my correct order, I am a very low maintenance customer. Towards the end of my meal, a man who turned out to be either the owner or the owner's son appeared behind the counter, so I asked him for some more water. We chatted a bit and he told me that the restaurant has been around for 3 years. When it first opened it was "a partnership" but for the last year or so it's been "just him and his family." So it's definitely a family run business. I told him I really enjoyed my meal, and he thanked me for supporting their business. I would definitely come back. I'd like to try out their other dishes. Parking is a bit of a pain in this area, as it's street parking only, and there are a lot of restrictions, but if you don't mind walking a bit, you can find parking a little further out.

The lobby was beautiful and cozy, showcasing the Thai culture with dragons and more. We were seated pretty quickly. This restaurant had a lunch menu. Yay, deals! I got the gang garee gai. It was yellow curry with chicken and potatoes, in coconut milk, with steamed jasmine rice. My friend got the beef kao soi, which was a curry soup with noodles. We got a constant stream of iced water. Thank goodness! We were both in dire need of cooling down being out and about on a hot summer day. It also came in handy while we were dining. Our food didn't take long to prepare. I was excited to chow down. The gang garee gai was yummy. I liked the curry flavour. The chicken was tender. There were a few potatoes that lightly thickened the curry. I loved the subtle coconut milk in the sauce. The jasmine rice was perfectly done. The downside was that the curry was salty. My friend agreed with my assessment, as her soup was also salty. At least the sodium levels were consistent here. She also made the comment that her dish was lacking vegetables, except for a thin slice of red pepper. I could tell that this meal threw my thirst level off the rails for the rest of my day. I had six drinks after this meal, without counting the iced water refills here. I downed two consecutive bubble teas that night, which I rarely do. The positive from the salt increase in my system: I was not bloated afterwards. The washrooms are downstairs. It is an older building, so it's not built for accessibility. The washroom was clean. It's street parking here. You can probably find a side street to park for free. The service was excellent. All of the meat was well cooked, and the broth has a pleasant sweetness to it, although it was on the verge of being too light for me, especially since a large amount of noodles can easily dilute it. What I did not enjoy in my experience, though, was that I felt like I needed to chase down the staff every step of the meal -- to be seated, to order, to get napkins, to get the bill.
