New Filipino Bakery in Silver Spring, MD.
    Ketsanee P.

Welcome Red Ribbon to Bakeshops community in Silver Spring, MD. A new good choices for sweet fans to try. It is interesting that they have different styles and flavors of cakes and pastries from others bakery shops in this area as Red Ribbon is a Filipino bakery. I had Rocky Road slice cake and Choco Mocha Crunch slice cake. They were tasty and not too sweet. Service was fine. Anyway, the interior is quite simple but new and clean. Besides desserts, there are some Filipino traditional dishes/meals offer for customers with a few dine in tables too. Also sell various flavors bread packages. I didn't try yet but maybe next time.

I've been to RRB once before, but always visited two other shops/bakeries nearby instead. It's nice to have one in MD now. Foods are a little pricey and the packaging on the baked goods could be better as to see what you're getting. They also have hot foods you can order. I purchased the empanada, which were a little flatter than what I'm used to, but they were good. $3.49 is pricey for one, so I just got one to try. The bakery is clean and friendly staff. There was an issue with ringing me up and it had to be done twice. When I got my bill later in the month, I had been charged twice. But overall, it was a pleasant visit and I would probably visit again and try some other items.

Heard so many great things about Red Ribbon Bakeshop I was excited when the opened a location in Wheaton. I came on opening weekend. The store was offering special deals. I got the 6-pack sampler. It contained 3 types of ensaimadas (ube, caramel and butter) and 3 types of mamans (butter, mocha and ube). All buns were individually wrapped. All were excellent and moist without being too sweet. They also sell hot savory foods (empanadas and rice dishes). Will need to try their mango supreme and Black Forest cake as well as their cake rolls.

We've been patiently watching this storefront for a while and was so excited to see it opened this last week. I strongly hinted to the family that I needed a birthday cake this week and they knew my favorite is a Black Forest cake. Most places fail miserably at this cake. I'm honestly usually disappointed. But Red Ribbon mostly pulled it off. The whipped cream was good. The cake was soft and fluffy and not too sweet. It needs a bit more cherry in the layers but really this is the closest I've had around here that made me super happy. Can't wait to check out the more traditional Filipino items they specialize in... but this was a great start.

Went here for the first time last month! Love everything here specially the chicken empanada, arroz caldo & palabok!!! Their palabok is tastier than the one from a Filipino Fast Food Restaurant nearby! We'll be back for sure! Yumm!

A slice of Ube Overload cake

Finally, Red Ribbon bakeshop opened in Sept. 2023. I have been eagerly waiting for its opening. I visited on a Wednesday morning because it gets crowded later during the day or weekends. I can see a large line outside the bakeshop during the weekends. For customer service, it was fine. The cashier was nice and repeated my order to make sure she got it right. As for the line, I waited 10 minutes to checkout. There were 3 other people ahead of me. Also, there were two cashiers. In my opinion, checkout could be more efficient. The cashiers were a little bit slow. As for the baked goods, I got the cheesy ensaimada, 1 slice of Mango supreme cake, and 1 slice of Ube overload cake. The cheesy ensaimada can be eaten room temp or warm for 10 sec in microwave. I tried both methods; room temp is better. Let's start with the good. The Mango Supreme cake was good; very light and refreshing. If you like fresh Asian fruit cakes, then you will like this cake. I would definitely buy it if I need a cake ASAP. The not so good parts were the cheesy ensaimada and the ube overload cake. The cheesy ensaimada tastes too processed and has a weird spongy texture. For the ube overload cake, it was slightly sweet and colorful. But, I wish it had more ube flavor. I can see Red Ribbon bakeshop's Success internationally. Their cakes are light and refreshing compared to American's styled cakes. As for their breads, they could improve on. If you are looking for solid layered chiffon cakes at reasonable prices, then I would recommend Red Ribbon bakeshop. I would come back to try their other types of cakes.

    Where can we park?

I believe there is limited parking behind the bakery, but I like to park in the open metered lot next to Ledo across University just down the street a bit. (Near Ooh La La Bakery too.)

When are you guys going to be open? It says on here you guys already open

It opened on September 23, 2023.

My favorite part is the creative ice cream flavors. Where else can you find cantaloupe or Old Bay ice cream? And they're delicious too! I went with friends on a quiet Thursday night. The interior is bright, spacious, and funky! I love the creative decorations. They had about 10 ice cream flavors available. I had to try a couple because they were so unique! Baklava, saffron, old bay, cantaloupe, and more! They had classics as well like chocolate and mint. A single scoop was $6 and was a good size. I got the baklava and WOW. I'm a huge baklava fan and this was incredible. I don't know how they mixed real, delicious chunks of baklava in the honey ice cream without it getting soggy or mushy, but they did and it was amazing! A friend got their dark chocolate and it might be the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had- I'm look at you Ben and Jerry! Some other nice touches- the spoons change color with different temperatures! So fun to watch your spoon change when it sits in the ice cream. They were also selling shirts to support the local elementary school. They have new flavors each season, so make sure you come in and try more! I can't wait to see what else they make!

It's made with lavender matcha ice cream which was really tasty but more on the lavender side than matcha. I also tried the Takeout sundae if you like a salty sweet combo this is it. They're located on Georgia right next to Denizens, and It's kind of in the cut and hard to see (well it was for me). If you're coming in from East-West Highway (pro tip: don't if you're driving, the parking there is restricted and they tow) you have to walk down stairs between the 1830 building and Denizens to find it. They allow one party in the building at a time. My boys and I went in and the young man immediately asked if we were just using the restroom or also getting ice cream-- I doubt they have public restrooms but I was on a trot after 3 hours out-- and when he realized we were getting ice cream, he didn't allow anyone in until we came out of the bathroom, ordered and left. Very safe. Their ice cream is clean, delicious, and their flavors are unique. I tried honey lavender and It was SOOO good until the very end ( I ate a bit of lavender and didn't taste anything else til I was done). The boys' strawberry ice cream was delicious and NOT pink- we avoid red dyes so this was exactly what we were looking for. The sugar cones are just the right size for the small children and they don't overstuff the cones a la Brusters and Ben and Jerry's. These are just right in size and price for kids. They didn't have a "kids cone" option per se (but I didn't ask) we just did a single scoop. That's one thing I'd like- a cake cone (smaller) with a kid sized scoop. As ir was, I got a scoop and a half helping the 3 year old finish. The 6 year old inhaled it in 2 minutes so it's just about right! Overall it's close to home, easy to get to once you know it's there and had great service plus AWESOME ice cream. I cannot wait to try the ginger, coconut, and wild blueberry! Lo

I recently picked up a small Lemon cake and a Strawberry cake from Morning My Day in Silver Spring…read more I was expecting a decent dessert; I wasn't expecting to be reminded that most other bakeries have been lying to us for years. The first bite was a bit of a shock to the system. It's one of those rare "Ratatouille moments" where a flavor profile manages to bridge the gap between Maryland and the legendary sponge cakes of Phoenix Bakery in LA. It's a bit of a trick, really--making something taste like a childhood memory without being cloying about it. The Breakdown: * The Sponge: It's exceptionally light. Biting into it is less like eating a dense dessert and more like biting into a sweetened, high-end pillow. It's airy, delicate, and possesses the kind of structural integrity that only a professional (or a wizard) could manage. * The Icing: A triumph of restraint. Instead of the usual sugary plaster one finds elsewhere, this is a light, white cream. It's sweet enough to let you know it's there, but it doesn't try to dominate the conversation. It's icing with a bit of dignity. * The Verdict: This is how cake ought to be. It's exquisite, technically brilliant, and far too easy to eat in a single sitting. If you appreciate a dessert that relies on craft rather than a massive dose of corn syrup, do yourself a favor and stop by. It's a legit bit of baking excellence right here in Silver Spring
