Love the banana turon and the sisig with egg. Sisig was clean and not overly greasy. The egg was cooked just right and paired perfectly with the rice. Super friendly service and great food. I'll be back for sure.

This little cafe serve tasty food. For $20 a person, you will be full. May be nothing specular, why would you go here besides food that you love to eat daily. Standard cafe decor and very clean Platter for two: - spring rolls perfectly crispy outside and moist inside, excellent taste and balance - beef is tasty but a tad dry - pork belly was absolutely perfect, so good. Crispy skin and juicy meat - stir fry glass noodles is tasty and not oily at all - carioca dessert is nice, chewy and not too sweet with good coconut balance and not easy to find

I was in the area recently and feeling snackish so I stopped in for some lumpia and taho both of which were really good! They were obviously made fresh and were just the right size and price for what I was in the mood for. I was tempted by the lechon and other options on the menu but just wasn't hungry enough so I'll have to stop by again. I visited on a Saturday, but they had plenty of seating. It was pretty quiet inside, mostly seemed to be doing takeout.

Comforting, clean, friendly service! I love coming to this family owned business for Filipino comfort food. Our favorites are the lumpia, turón, and fresh veggie lumpia. A must try in Rockville!

Sweet little cafe and the prices were right! Food was hot and fresh, and the service was very friendly. (Counter service only - plentiful seating in the cafe.). The lumpia were delicious and really hit the spot on a cold day. Loved all the grab and go desserts and snacks too! This would be a great place to grab a bite after browsing at the Friends of the Library bookstore next door. I will definitely be back to try their breakfasts and fill up my loyalty punch card!

Full disclosure: I came to Rockville to get my lechon fix at Kuya Ja's, but discovered it's closed on Tuesdays. Still craving crispy pork, we searched for another Filipino restaurant nearby, and found Filo Cafe just 3 minutes away. Thank goodness! Got my plate of lechon with rice and I couldn't be happier. The pieces are smaller in comparison, but each piece was perfectly crispy and juicy. My spouse enjoyed his tocilog with garlic rice and egg (gotta love all day breakfast!), and we couldn't resist carioca, sweet rice balls, to take home, along with homemade bagoong (shrimp paste). This place is solid and reliable for classic Filipino plates. I now have another great go-to Filipino restaurant to get my pig fix anytime.

delicious filipino food with amazing customer service - def recommend you visit and try!! it was my first time eating filipino food and it did not disappoint. the staff was so sweet and patient in explaining everything to us. the place itself is super cute, clean, and cozy - calm filipino music playing in the background, new desserts + drinks to try, and even a couple of board games you can play with friends! my friend and i ordered the kamayan platter with garlic rice, lumpia, lechon kawali, and (beef tapa or pork tocino). the platter was beautiful and such a fun way to sample a bunch of filipino dishes. it also came with three dipping sauces. food was so delicious - the pancit was savory, the lumpia was perfectly crisp, and the lechon kawali was unreal... super crispy skin and juicy pork inside. the garlic rice was so good too, i love a good simple rice. the beef tapa was a little dry in parts but still tasty - i'm curious to try the tocino next time:) only wish is that the portions were a bit bigger (lowkey think i could've eaten the whole platter myself haha). but overall, such a fun experience and i'd definitely recommend to anyone wanting to try filipino food!

Filo Cafe is a lovely place in an unassuming location. We both ordered the Kamayan platter with variations on the meat choices. We also mixed it up with the lumpia as well so we could sample more of the options. Our dinner was presented on banana leaves making for an authentic experience. The platter was a good portion size and could have been shared with two diners. Since we wanted leftovers, we got two platters. Overall, we enjoyed our meals. I loved the pancit and bihon. The beef was dry and chewy. Pork was good and reminded me of char siew. I've always loved lumpia. I like that they're thinly rolled, unlike egg rolls where the stuffing falls out. The service was extremely kind and patient. I say this because we were utterly confused as to how to order and what was included in the kamayan. The lovely person at the counter had to explain to us a few times what the options were. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being so understanding and patient. Parking: Plentiful

I've been visiting this place since the day it opened. I enjoy the food. It's always delicious. The service is always welcoming. The ambience is simple. The place is not too big, so it's just kind of like hanging out in your own kitchen. So, if you like Filipino food, give this place a try. I think you'll like it.

I've stopped by Filo Cafe a couple times now for their ube vanilla llatte float, which I really enjoy. It's smooth, creamy, has good ube flavor, and provides a good pick me up. Topped with a scoop of ube ice cream, it could also serve as a nice dessert to finish your meal. I definitely plan to be back to try their food - their tapsilog and kamayan platter are calling my name!

Service was very good. The dish I had was a traditional breakfast dish, Tocilog. A sweet and savory pork dish served with garlic rice and a fried egg. It was delectable. All the flavor of the pork paired well with the rice and egg. A very casual atmosphere and clean.

Loved the friendly staff. Informative and professional. Portions of the food is large. Simple and traditional food. I got too full to try the fresh lumpia and dinuguan. The price reasonable and the food is tasty. Ambiance is minimalist and clean all around including the bathroom. Absolutely coming back. Check it out if you want authentic Filipino food.

Great hole in the wall small business offering delicious Filipino food. We ordered the tapsilog, pancit, halo halo and some Filipino sweets. Located Rockville, there is a lot of parking in the shopping center. Cant wait to go back for more Filipino food!

Some seatings were comfy (the ones in the back) and the others was a bit hard. Most of the pastries are in the middle with sweet ones on one side and savoys on the other. The price was really reasonable. I saw so many savoy ones I would love to try if I ever visit at BF time. I saw they have Cronut (Croissant and Donut in one). I had had Cronut in Vegas (at the Paris Hotel), but the ones here looked a little different so I wanted to try. Mistake. It was extremely greasy. The oil soaked through the paper plate and I had to squeeze the pieces I cut with napkins to get as much oil out as possible. I would give it a 2 star, it would have been good if not so oily. The egg tarts on the other hand deserved a 5 star. Love it. The latte tasted fine, but it took them a while to make it (almost 10 mins) and served in the normal paper cup, I was hoping for a nice latte art since it took so long. Overall it is a wonderful place to sit around and enjoy some quiet time, just don't get the cronut unless they cut down on the oil...

The tofu steam bun -- easily my favorite lunch item in the area -- really didn't work. It's still an interesting experience but I really can't recommend a place I now avoid. --- PROS - Interesting selection, interesting food, lots of options, overall friendly staff. - Bathrooms were clean. The interior of the restaurant seemed like a good meeting/date spot. Although they had Wifi, I wouldn't call this a great place to come and study or get work done, although I saw people doing that. I've had the Vietnamese coffee twice, the first time was great, the second time was just okay. Food items are very unique, so much so I didn't like some of them but I still enjoyed the experience. Try something that sounds weird, it's half the fun of coming in here. CONS * Allergies - it wasn't clear what all everything was made with so if you're trying to avoid gluten or peanuts or eggs, I didn't see much on ingredients. I know for some people that's a red flag. * The tea. We just thought it was above average but not amazing. I mean its right in the name, come on. * Collecting items - you gotta look for the little trays and the salad tongs. That's what you use to grab stuff out of the cases. I know for most people that was super obvious but it wasn't for me. * Summertime note: during the hotter months I've noticed they seem to have some issues with keeping things cool.

While the restaurant has a few tables for dining, this restaurant appears to be a order and go type of place, which is primarily patronized by folks working in construction and landscaping. Although the two workers speak limited English, you might have a better experience if you can communicate in some Spanish. Looking back, I wish that I went with a Latin breakfast (eg, a breakfast pupusa) instead of a "standard" bacon, egg, cheese bagel. There wasn't anything wrong with the sandwich, but I realized that I could get this type of sandwich from any breakfast place in the area. However, I'll blame my choice of ordering my breakfast sandwich over a breakfast pupusa on the fact that I was still in sleep mode. ;) I thought the prices were pretty fair. My bacon, egg, cheese bagel + a side of potatoes + a can of Diet Coke was about 10 bucks. One tip (pun intended), bring cash for a tip. Unfortunately, their electronic payment system isn't set up to add a tip to your payment. Although I would not go out of my way to stop here, it is nice to have another early-morning breakfast option that isn't a fast food spot. One other thing: parking is VERY limited (like most places in this area) because I think the storefront only has 2-3 parking spots. Also, I'm not sure how strict other business are regarding folks parking in their spots.

I try to support small businesses all the time and it's amazing to have peace of mind when a cafe like this offers everything gluten-free. However, it was a bit frustrating. I ordered the chickpea blondie which was very sandy. The egg, bacon, and cheese sandwich on a bagel which was the best thing of all the things I ordered. I ordered a cinnamon roll with regular frosting, and the cinnamon roll was still frozen. Since it was frosted, I couldn't heat it up at home and that was very disappointing. I would've hoped that they would've at minimum heated up the cinnamon roll before frosting while I was there. When I received the cheddar thyme biscuit, it was also part frozen. Once it defrosted, it was also quite sandy. I'm going to see if it tastes differently once I throw it in the oven. Overall I really appreciate the extensive menu, I just wished that some of the items would taste better, and that others weren't served frozen or half frozen. I did order my things to-go but had hoped to eat it in the car and couldn't because it was still so solid.
