On a rare occasion, I was invited to a picnic and purchased a box of Sticky Finger's Cardamom Chai Sandwich Cookies as a picnic food offering. When dessert time rolled around, I immediately opened up an individually wrapped Cardamom Chai Sandwich Cookie, and ate it with a shocked look on my face - whereby I immediately went to steal BACK half of the sandwich cookies I brought. When I got home, I crouched down in a corner, like Gollum and his precious, and ate one of the Cardamom Chai Sandwich Cookies I stole back. Love that its women founded and the distinct elevated style of a Sticky Fingers Bakery and packaging. It feels clean and modern with the new-age pink. This is also reflected in the nearly undetectable vegan offerings, the recipe development really paid off! Their showcase is also very unique with a rotating savory menu. Aside from that, its just a great bakery to visit in the neighborhood. This is just about the expected price point for well made vegan desserts, so its best to share with someone. Because its expensive, I see this as a place for special cake moments for the non-frequent occasions. It would be such a delight to have this for a birthday (and they take cake custom orders!). We stopped by Sticky Fingers Sweets & Eats in the morning, and while many of the cookies were already sold out, we were lucky enough to snag a Classic Oatmeal Cookie and a Chocolate Peppermint Sandwich Cookie. Both were absolutely delicious! The oatmeal cookie was perfectly chewy, and the peppermint in the sandwich cookie was subtle and not overpowering--just the right balance. My husband isn't usually a fan of vegan treats, but even he loved his cookie, which says a lot! Parking is limited, but we found a paid street spot right in front of the store. However, if you'd rather skip the hassle of parking, the location is super convenient--it's right in front of a metro station and bus stop, making public transit an easy and stress-free option. Miss their old location in Columbia Heights since I don't make it up this far as much. An all vegan bakery is hard to come by, but they are well known for their cookies and cakes. Got a sugar cookie and it wasn't too sweet and had a nice soft texture. There is a limited number of chairs facing the window so you can watch people walking outside. They only do desserts and have food in the cold case if you want something to go. One person working so if people want more sweets in front of you there might be a small wait. My girlfriend and I stopped here on the way to DC. She found this bakery online and we chose it because she has an egg and peanut allergy. It's a tiny take-out joint but with a few cute window seats. We enjoyed a vegan burrito and croissant sandwich and coffee before ordering a ton of cupcakes and cookies to go. Everything was fantastic! The desserts are so beautiful and flavorful with good texture. The best part was most certainly Melanie (I think we overheard that was her name). PLEASE NOTE: This was for nationwide shipping. I recently reordered from Sticky Fingers for some autumnal goodies. And I'm about to make an order for some holiday-themed goodies! From my previous review/still holds true: "My experience with Sticky Fingers was sugary sweet right from the start. They clearly communicated via email my order (confirmation number and receipt, when it was shipped, when it was en route to my flat). And the packaging was so charming: a brightly colored box, tissue paper, a handwritten note, and enough eco-friendly packaging peanuts that nothing inside was crushed or melted." As of now, everything ordered has been super fresh!: -/+ Fudgetastic Brownies ($25.50 for 1/2 a dozen): I'm not the biggest brownie lover (personally, these weren't fudgey or gooey enough for me), but my partner couldn't stop raving about them. PRO TIP: microwave them for 10 to 15 seconds to get them soft and warm. - Chocolate Strawberry Sandwich Cookies ($20 for 1/2 a dozen): "Double chocolate cookies, strawberry frosting, chocolatey sprinkles, perfect for sharing." All of that is true: these are bigger than they look, but - unlike the photos on the website - there wasn't as much frosting filling as I thought there would have been/would have liked. Also, WOW, are these sweet! One is plenty for two people to share. - All Fall Bars ($30 for a 1/2 a dozen): I was so excited to try these, described as being "loaded with pumpkin, cranberries, pecans, and candied ginger", but these were the first disappointing thing we've had from here. They felt like a pumpkin pie bar, but seriously lacking in flavor and texture. The tartness of the cranberry was delightfyl, but the pumpkin part was barely noticeable (where were the spices?!) as was the candied ginger; also, the bottom layer of crust was soooooooooo thick and dry. Skip these. I'm not sure bars are their forte. + Rainbow Cookies ($12 for a pack of five): You ever have something for the first time and it's everything you ever wanted, but didn't know you wanted, and you also aren't sure you're ever going to be able to get them again? Me and these cookies. I used to love battenburg when I lived in England. Haven't had anything comparable (or vegan since my diet's changed) in years. I bought these on a whim and I ate the whole box with a cup of tea in one sitting and I have no regrets (except that when I went to buy more, they were out of stock). Chocolate and almond paste and raspberry jam, they are a perfect symphony of flavors and textures. I plan on ordering an absolutely embarrassing amount soon. read more

So glad this long-time DC bakery moved into a bigger production space! They have a huge selection of cookies, cakes, and cupcakes (unsurprising since the owner has won Cupcake Wars). But personally I love the savory stuff--breakfast sandwiches, lunch wraps, and more that you can get to go or get heated up and eat at the bar looking out the window. Coffee is decent too. All items are vegan and there are gluten-free options as well. Staff is super prompt, friendly, and helpful too! Absolutely incredible vegan bakery! not just "good for vegan," you will be blown away by how genuinely delicious everything is! The pastries are perfectly flaky, the cakes are rich and moist, and you'd never guess they're dairy- and egg-free. Every bite tastes thoughtfully made, not overly sweet, and full of real flavor. I even sent a care package of their cookies and brownies to my kids in college, and they disappeared instantly. I also brought a box of cookies into work, and everyone was shocked when I told them they were vegan--people could not believe it. Why does everyone assume vegan can't be delicious? This place proves that assumption completely wrong. The staff is warm and welcoming, happy to explain ingredients and offer recommendations, and the bakery itself is cozy, pink, fun vibe and inviting. Whether you're vegan or not, this spot is an absolute must. I'll definitely be back! My guy, his son and I came here after a day at the National Zoo. We had just finished eating there and were all craving a dessert so I knew there had to be something on my Yelp bookmarks I been wanting to try. Sticky Fingers was about 15 mins away from where we were. There's hardly any parking so we parked in the Giant grocery store garage and had to buy something in there after to just to get it validated. (Parking price started at $3) The bakery is across the street from Giant and we were greeting by a nice young lady who explained all their gluten-free, nut free options. After we picked out our selection of 3 cupcakes, she individually boxed them. We tried the cupcakes when we got home and if I could rate them, they were a 6 out of 10. We also noticed there were a few flies on the cookie side of the shop. Luckily the cupcake side had none because there was a mirrored divider in between. They sell their own cookie & cake mixes. It'll be some time before I go back but it was nice to check off one of my bookmarks. read more

Service- it was piss poor Walked in about 1250pm on Sunday, and just as I always do, I greeted the person behind the counter (especially since she didn't look up from her phone when we entered the store). She didn't return the greeting, just pointed to the screen and said "order here" There was little to no engagement with any customers, and when there was some, it definitely made us flinch. Now, you may ask, "Why did you even buy anything?" This was our first time coming to this store, but we have eaten this brand before when it was offered at other places, so we trusted this service was not a reflection of the food qualify So the dessert was yummy. Meh. This place just isn't great with vegan treats. ::shrug:: I finally stopped by the new(ish) Takoma DC location, in the former Soupergirl spot. I wanted to buy some cupcakes for a co-worker's birthday, and I was impressed with the tiny little outpost's cupcake display case with several tasty-looking options. But once again -- and more than a decade later from my first attempt to patronize this place -- WOMP WOMP! I bought two cupcakes for my co-worker (a vanilla and chocolate-based one) and one for myself (an Oreo-like one). And mine was TERRIBLE. Seemingly fresh. But poor and substandard in taste. Nothing you'd write home about or ever order again. I FORCED myself to eat it because I didn't want to waste my own money. But I don't understand how a vegan place consistently turns out such poor-quality dessert. Given how bad my own cupcake was, I'm now embarrassed that I gifted someone else TWO of these things. Double fail! ::face palm:: And that's on top of the fact that they do not have suitable packaging to present these cupcakes in any remotely attractive away. All they had were two nondescript white boxes that hold a single cupcake each -- and which the cashier wrote the flavors on with a Sharpie, even though I specifically asked her not to because I wasn't sure what her handwriting would look like and I wanted to make these a nice gift. So these two white generic boxes with handwritten Sharpie on them were then placed into a gigantic store-branded bag for carrying, only further exacerbating the disappointment when one peered inside. Bottom line -- I'm glad to see something come to this space. But I really don't see how this place stays in business. There are plenty of places that do vegan options well (like Gangster Organic Vegan, Busboys and Poets, and Everyday Sundae, just to name a few). Sticky Fingers is just not one them, no matter how many times I try it. read more

Vegan dessert? Don't mind if I do! I don't usually make my way to H street, but I had dinner plans in the area, so decided to walk over. (Never realized how long H street was until I was walking here with high heels). Finally got to Sticky Fingers and walked in around 7-8pm-ish. A good 2 hours before closing, but it looked like a lot of the desserts were gone! The sign said "Please wait to be seated" so we did. We sat down and the server says there's a 20% gratuity for seated customers. He also explained we can do a pick-up order and sit outside. We opted for that. So did a pickup order through the touchscreen kiosk and waited for our order to be done. While we waited I checked the receipt and it added 20% gratuity to it! Now what's the difference between picking up and sitting inside? We asked them if we could sit inside then and they kindly let us while we had our desserts prepared. The GF brownie 3/5 Funfetti cake 4/5 Snickerdoodle cookie 3.5/5 We were not the only ones hungry for dessert. The mosquitos were too as they were eating me alive. I left this place with a bunch of bug bites. Made the experience a little less enjoyable. All these desserts tasted much better the next day, a little warmed up in the microwave. read more

After being featured in VegNews and having such a cleaver name, had to try this out! We don't live anywhere near DC but thankfully they deliver, nationwide! Since a birthday was coming up, a order for some seasonal treats was made! Opted for USPS Priority delivery and boy was that a mistake. Package was stuck at their local distribution center and did not move for an entire week! While the wait for Priority mail is generally 2 to 3 business days, this took nearly two weeks! Note to self, select the UPS option next time if you are on a time crunch. Despite all of this, the wait was well worth it! At first we were worried the cookies and brownies would been stale at this point but we were pleasantly surprised. The Double Chocolate Chip cookies wrapped in single layer of plastic were still soft, chewy, and sweet! The Blondies individually saran wrapped were still moist and delightful. The Blondies reminded us of a big slice of Chocolate Cookie Cake! I was hoping the Seasonal Treats would include more of a variety as pictured on the their website but we were happy with the selection. Definitely would order again and hopeful for an in-person visit soon! read more

Stopped by here today. It's conveniently close to Takoma metro station. I wanted to like it, but honestly, the cupcakes are terrible, as in even my children didn't like them. They were insanely dry. Not to mention the lady working there was randomly singing while putting the cupcakes in boxes, and I had to silently pray her spittle didn't get on the cupcakes. Bottom line: avoid. Super good deserts i had their chocolate cake in the past and got it again because its that good i had their vanilla and chocolate cupcakes which is buttercream but non dairy and the cake is also non dairy for anyone allergic to dairy deathly allergic like i am i highly recommend this place you will not regret it. For anyone with a natural sugar tooth and you like extremely sweet things the cupcakes aren't for you they aren't super sweet they are super mellow and a nice middle the chocolate cake is sweet like that though and i like a bit of both so i order it every now and then when i can because its that good. I'm sad because I really wanted to like this place, but I guess it's not for me. I tried to call in advance to place a to go order over the phone but a lady said they're extremely busy and put me on hold for close to 10 minutes. I was parked right outside and walked in and the place was empty. Hmmm... The place looks amazing. The store is very cute- everything is vegan, and there are sweet and savory dishes to order. So how could it go wrong? Well the food... I was unpleasantly surprised. I got two different entrees- the chorizo tacos and the black bean quesadilla (each entree was $11), and all I can say is that I could have made much better tasting food at home for cheaper. The flavors were extremely bland. The only thing I really liked was the spicy creamy dipping sauce that came with the quesadilla. And then the cupcakes! Oh no, how horribly wrong it went. I got 3 different flavors and an oatmeal cookie cream sandwich (forgot what it was called). The icing in all of them had a chalky flavor and it was EXTREMELY, sickeningly sweet. It was almost as if they were using that much sugar in order to mask something else. The cake itself in the cupcakes was not bad (better than most no vegan cupcakes), but the icing was utterly horrible- it tasted almost like those over sweetened toothpastes (the chalky kind). I gave it a chance, but the dishes are way overpriced for the quality, and the cupcakes are extremely disappointing. Just thinking about that awful sweet flavor makes my stomach cringe. read more

We went with vanilla (the rainbow sprinkles always win over my toddler!) and the cookie love, as recommended by the lovely lady working the front. Wow - these cupcakes were DELICIOUS, especially the cookie love! They didn't taste vegan at all and were so moist, fluffy and not too sweet. I never enjoy buttercream and usually wipe it off of my cupcakes but their frosting was so good that I ate it all. I would definitely recommend you give it a try. The cupcake was so good that we purchased the 6" cake. We kept it overnight in the fridge and ate it the next day and it was still fantastic. Was enough for 6 people with an extra slice. Dense and moist with fluffy frosting! I also got a chocolate filled donut but I would suggest their cupcakes instead, it was okay but not spectacular.
