The facility is a little hidden, but once you find it, it's surprisingly large and unique. When we visited, they were hosting an event with music and food, which made the experience even more fun. One thing I really appreciated is that there's no time limit once you pay, so you can climb at your own pace. They provide climbing shoes if you don't have your own. The shoes fit very snug, so I'd recommend sizing up if possible. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Before climbing the taller walls, they explained how to use the automatic rope including how to properly clip in and unclip. There are also climbing areas where you don't need to be attached to a rope because the floors are covered with large padded cushions, making falls much softer and less intimidating. Another highlight was the two emotional support dogs that wander around the establishment. They were adorable, friendly, and definitely added to the welcoming atmosphere. My kids and I had such a great time rock climbing. Honestly, we never thought this would be something we'd want to continue doing, but after this experience, we're already talking about becoming members. We had an amazing time and will definitely be back with family and friends!

I was at the front desk filling out waivers on my phone in one hand and holding my 1-year-old daughter in the other. A staff member approached us in a very rude and condescending manner about my 7-year-old "running under people," saying he made someone feel "infuriated." While I understand safety is important, this was his first visit and he was simply excited and once he saw the bouncy floors he automatically assumed it was like a trampoline park. Keep in mind we had to stay put for shoe fittings and harness's for my three boys while having my hands full. The issue wasn't being informed--it was how it was handled. The same staff member then told my mother, "this is not a daycare where you can just drop your kids off," which was completely unnecessary and inappropriate. At the time, I had briefly stepped out to my car to change my baby, and my children ages (7, 10, 15) were being supervised by their grandmother and aunt. Because of this interaction, I felt so uncomfortable that I stayed in my car for the remainder of the visit. We paid $75 for an experience we didn't even get to fully enjoy. We will not be returning and we do not recommend this place. Going by other negative reviews I am not the only one who had a bad experience with the same individual.

I would say conditions are not optimal. For bouldering, the different routes are intertwined and so sometimes kind of confusing to see the path and also where it ends. I think they set it up this way so that the route can be complete half way for non advance climbers but also offer advance climbers the option to climb higher. The bottom footing holds where you start can be very spotty, feels like some have just fell off. Otherwise I felt that the v0-2 were more beginner and shortie friendly than at the refuge because I am 5'2 beginner and I couldn't really climb anything at the refuge whereas I could at red rock. The rock climbing was auto belays and it was a bit scary since it goes pretty quick down.

I'm under 18, so my waiver has to be filled out by a parent. I was texting my mom so she could do it, which is the only way it can actually get done. He saw me on my phone, decided that meant I was filling out my own waiver and doing something wrong, and refused service over it. He never asked me a single question. He just made up his mind. That's the part I could get over. What I can't get over is how he treated the people around him. He talked to me like I wasn't a person, just an annoyance in his day. He also talked over the woman working next to him, answered for her, and bossed her around like she didn't count. If someone treats a paying customer and his own coworker like that in one short visit, I have a hard time believing I'm the only one it's happened to - in both a coworker and customer way. A climbing gym should feel welcoming. Refusing people over wrong assumptions and being condescending while you do it is going to quietly push people away. I'd really hope whoever runs this place pays attention to how customers are being treated at the front desk, because this felt like a pattern, not a bad day. The scenic drive is a 13-mile one-way loop with numerous pull-offs where you can stop, take photos, and enjoy some incredible views. There are more than 25 hiking trails that branch off the scenic loop, ranging from short nature walks to challenging hikes. I visited in May, and for me, it was already a little too hot to enjoy hiking in the desert. We drove the scenic loop and stopped at several trailheads, walking a short distance down many of the trails before heading back to the air-conditioned car. We quickly realized we weren't prepared for the desert heat, but it gave us a great preview of what the area has to offer. Even without completing any of the hikes, I was amazed by the colorful rock formations, desert landscape, and scenic overlooks. There are plenty of places to pull over and simply appreciate the views without committing to a long hike. Next time, I'd definitely visit during the cooler months so I can spend more time exploring the trails. If you plan to hike, be sure to bring plenty of water, wear sun protection, and start early in the day. Even if you only drive the loop, Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful escape from the Las Vegas Strip and well worth the visit.

Its like a playground for athletes! I had so much fun here, I did acro with a friend with the iconic Las Vegas Circus Center Mural background, played on the Ninja jungle gym until my hand ripped, there's also regular workout equipment - including my absolute all-time favorite - the Jacobs Ladder!!! There were also rings and bars with clearance overhead for pull-ups/pull-overs/muscle ups, and swedish ladders for leg lifts. Stuff for aerialists too. Note for the trampolines/foam pits - you need their trampoline socks, which was annoying so I skipped that for that day. Otherwise, 100% would recommend and will definitely be back!!!

And in case you don't know, climbing is all the rage, especially in Vegas. The levels are definitely more difficult, either that or I suck hahaha. Regardless, there's a lot of diversity in what you can do here and the community is fun and supportive. Membership fees are affordable, rentals are always free (which is huge), and it's open, if I recall, very late into the night. So if you work weird hours, you can still get your climbing fix. So there you go, a good climbing gym with good facilities and resources for anyone and everyone.

An Earth Day 2016 Celebration Review…read more The River Mountain Trail (not River Mountains Loop Trail) is one of my most cherished hiking trails near Las Vegas. Ever since I first stepped foot on it in 2006, I have adored this charming trail. It is an adoration that led to an annual Spring hike on it. It is a tradition that has cost zero and gives back uncomplicated joy. Yesterday, I celebrated Earth Day on the River Mountain Trail. River Mountain Trail with the unsigned Black Mountain Trail is a six-mile round trip adventure that starts from a parking lot off mile marker 29.5 of the River Mountains Loop Trail (https://www.yelp.com/biz/river-mountains-loop-trail-henderson) in Boulder City then climbs from an elevation of 2,415 to 3,600 feet up to Red and Black Mountain (https://www.yelp.com/biz/red-and-black-mountain-boulder-city). This is what I consider a Disney Trail. Just like a Disneyland ride, it is clean; adorable; picturesque ; and provides a thrill minus the intimidation. Deep into the trail as it climbs the switchbacks up the Red & Black Mountain canyon it even resembles the Big Thunder Railroad. The Civilian Corps that built it in the 1930s did it with the imagination of a Disney Imagineer. The trail is a work of art that follows a sinuous course through the rolling desert where it passes through a verdant canyon of vegetation. Graffiti is relatively nonexistent. From the trailhead near St. Jude Ranch, the first impression is misleading. Following the beginning leg of the trail it borders housing walls and a concrete wash. After a slight curve, it meets the colossal spaces of the desert with Red and Black Mountain Mountain in the distance. In April, with the blooming wildflowers, the desert resembles an Arboretum more than a desolate landscape. Gradually the trail aims toward the Red & Black Mountain canyon. When the trail reaches 2,960 elevation, the switchbacks along the face of Red Mountain start rolling the ribbon of sand up sinuous and gentle curves toward the stratosphere in a place up by the clouds called the Red & Black Mountain summit. The amazing thing is how smoothly it reaches 3,300 feet. Ethereal and beautiful describe the experience of this solitary climb to the stratosphere. I compare this stretch to driving on Utah bound I-15 through endless desert then experiencing the roller coaster dips and turns of the Virgin River Gap. Here there are more rest stops. On the way there are large boulders to pause. Overhead vultures and airplanes pass over the sky. Below is a view of part of Boulder City. At the top of the saddle the trail name ends. Gone are the green and white trail signs with the River Mountain Trail - Bicycles prohibited signs. Gone is any thought of the trail ending. A left leads up to Red Mountain and straight to the Black Mountain summit. Now physically near the clouds and mentally on cloud nine, I continue straight for a. 05 to climb up a gentle 180 elevation gain to the end. On this walk near the clouds, I pass a rock that looks like an alligator. The trail concludes at the Black Mountain summit. At 3,480 feet high I rise above it all (Red Mountain is higher). This is a breathtaking panoramic view of the Las Vegas valley and Mount Charleston, Lake Mead, Boulder City, River Mountains, and desert interspersed with mountains reaching across the Hoover Dam Bridge into Arizona. Adorning the summit is a bench and informative sign on the geology. Even better than the rewarding overlook is that up to now was the laborious part of the hike. Heading back, the hike is a fun downhill descent toward the trailhead. I highly recommend hiking up the River Mountain Trail in the cooler months. In my opinion this hike is priceless. Being that this is an Earth Day review, it is appropriate to write that this is advice written from a person that is down to Earth.

The class for flying trapeze is 90 minutes, and there were 5 people in it when I went. There are 3 folks on staff, and they are all highly experienced, helpful, friendly and focused. You won't have any concerns about safety. They will walk you through all the things you need to know. I've done quite a bit of flying trapeze, but I'm not super amazing by any measure. This place made me feel better than I thought I was. They literally helped me work on problems I didn't know how to resolve. In addition, in one class, they helped me work on a trick that I had briefly tried. By the end of class, it was pretty darn good and was caught twice. To me, that's talent from the professionals working here, all working hard to cater to each individual student to yield them the best experience possible. It was a surprisingly productive and helpful experience, and I would go back here in a heartbeat for the helpfulness and talent that the staff have. The one sort of bad thing I can say is that Vegas is hot, but flying here at night isn't so bad. It's still toasty, but, it's worth it! I cannot wait to go back to Vegas in order to drop in here AGAIN. If I can help it, I would go multiple times! So much kudos and appreciation for the folks who run this place and work so hard for the students. Thank you!
