Despite there being two check-in areas, we weren't even acknowledged until I approached the desk and greeted the employee myself. I was then told she "doesn't like to tell guests to move." A simple acknowledgment that we were standing there waiting would have been basic customer service. Later that night, around 11:50 p.m., guests were outside on the pool deck directly outside our window talking, laughing, and being loud. I called the front desk and was told there was no closing time or quiet time for the deck, but they would ask them to quiet down. Twenty minutes later, nothing had changed. When I called again, I was told there was nothing they could do, but they had complimentary earbuds available. Offering earbuds instead of addressing excessive noise directly outside a guest's window around midnight is unacceptable. Between the poor service at check-in and the way the noise complaint was handled, I would not recommend this hotel and will be contacting Holiday Inn/IHG corporate about our experience.
