I stayed here for a work trip and the room was absolutely nice. It was clean and cozy. It has a good location to UF campus if you're planning to visit otherwise parking is a little tough as they only do valet parking for $34 per night. Otherwise it has a nice view of campus and has a rooftop pool. I will definitely stop by again. read more

We were looking for a hotel close to the UF campus and this AC was perfect. We visited for one night on memorial day weekend and it was surprisingly quiet. The hotel staff were very kind, giving us a higher room floor for a better view and letting us freeze ice packs (since we have medicines that need to be kept cool) in their staff fridge. The valet even offered us nice cold water bottles on our way out. The hotel was very clean and modern. We had to look up a video to figure out how to work the fancy fridge in our room. Which had plenty of space and did not automatically charge you for opening the door, which I appreciate! The hotel also had a nice gym on the top floor and a rooftop pool that was small but looked perfect for cooling off in the heat. There were also great views of campus from the roof. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet which had lots of options to choose from (baked goods, cereals, hot food, fresh fruit). There was also a fancy espresso machine but no instructions on how to use it, which would have been helpful. They also had coffee and water stations in the lobby for anytime use. Our only other comment is that it would be nice to have a self park option, so that we did not have to rely on the valet. We would definitely stay here again. read more

The valet and bartender, Taylor, were great and why I gave 2 stars. Very friendly. The front desk staff, however, is another story. On morning two of my stay I woke up to the sound of running water in my room. When I got out of bed to investigate I found water flowing from the lights, vents, and ceiling in the bathroom. I called the front desk and they said there was no engineer in and they would find out what to do. When they called back ten minutes later they said that it happens sometimes and should resolve itself. What?!?! At this point the amount of water is increasing and all of my things are wet. They didn't even offer me a new room until I insisted that I needed to be moved to a dry room! Unbelievable. Instead of sleeping, I spent the rest of my morning going down to get a new key, drying and packing my things, and making multiple trips to move my things to a new room on a new floor. Stayed there for 1 night the hitel was extremely busy. The staff was great. From the the moment we pulled in valet was awesome. Went to check in and had to wait as our room was not ready I truly understand this. Once up to our room it was very clean. So where things went down hill was this is probably on me. Due to health restrictions I brought food and there is no microwave in the hotel. Im a clock person there are no clocks in thr room. The water in the shower was perfect. And the Ac kept the room chilled however I kept wondering if we were in Gainesville or Titusville as thought a few times our Ac unit sounded like a rocket launch. The bed is less than desirable I'm pretty sure the furniture in the lobby would have been more comfortable than their beds. Unless you are from the rock ages. The bed was so hard. 2 days later and I'm still popping aleve to help with my back. However the staff was great the room was clean. read more

At first glance, this looks like a very nice hotel. The location is a little strange, but I understand that building a hotel downtown is probably difficult. However, everything about this place feels... sloppy? The staff was nice, but didn't seem particularly invested in providing service, unlike what I've had at other Marriott hotels. The rooms look beautiful, and are very spacious, but if you put easily wipeable flooring into the rooms, you have to actually take a mop to it sometimes? Given the chain's emphasis on cleaning public spaces, it seems like they're doing that at the expense of the actual rooms. The tile in the shower had deep grout lines that are difficult to clean, so of course they're full of mold stains. The carpet under the seating area hadn't been vacuumed in a long time. And I'm pretty sure the couple of hairs I found in the shower were not mine. Also one of the breakfast boxes we got had expired yogurt in it. I booked the room at a pretty low rate, so I'm not super upset about the low quality, but given what their rack rates seem to be, there's a lot of room for improvement. read more

4 Stars for staff that was an absolute pleasure, a clean and modern environment, but parking that is a bit of a head-scratcher. First up- a note on the parking. If you can find a spot on the street by the front entrance, KUDOS! If not, there's a parking garage above the Target where you can park (with a mirror-tag from the hotel). The only odd thing is finding your way from the garage to the hotel. We ended up in three different places while trying to figure out how to get to the hotel (one time finding ourselves inside an apartment building). By the end, we concluded that we just had to leave the garage and walk across to the hotel entrance. It's not as intuitive as you would imagine, and there's not a covered path when it's raining... But, also not a big deal. Otherwise, the hotel was pretty nice! The bar adjacent to the lobby was really well stocked and the bartender was fantastic! They have Spanish porron wine pitchers (so random and also so cool!) and have an old fashioned that's infused with smoke from oak. Much cooler than what I'd imagine from a pretty small lobby bar. The pool is pretty lackluster. It's on the roof, but it is TINY and gets a bit awkward when there are multiple groups on the pool deck. The rooms, however, are nicely updated and everything looked great. One thing I'd note is that the tile floor in our room was oddly oily. Not sure what it was, but we ended up wearing sandals to void it. Overall, a good hotel. I'd definitely stay there again but would likely call the front desk if the floor was still oily next time. read more

Meh. We had an overnight here while on a long road trip. The hotel is is the middle of the University of Florida campus, so convenient if your visiting there. The room was clean and comfortable. Parking is a bit of a challenge. There is a garage next door but parking is $20 for self parking and hotel guests are limited to the 4th and 5th levels. My check in experience was also challenging. Even though I'm a titanium for life Marriott member, it took the front desk a while to locate my reservation. My biggest dislike was with the bar and bartender. We arrived about 830PM and looked forward to a beverage and a bite. One bartender for 8 guests and service was bad. He was mainly focused on chatting with a young lady at the bar, rather than taking care of customers. Customers had to get his attention and ask for another beverage rather than getting good service. The place is losing hundreds in revenue each night because of this and several other guests weren't happy either. There was only one beer on tap (seriously, Bill Marriott??) The canned beer was all local stuff that really wasn't very good. The food was OK. Don't plan on being back here. read more

If you need to go to UF this is the best hotel in the area. Book early because it always sell out. This time, a month before freshman move in, I was able to book one night but the second was sold out. The closest hotel to campus and located next to Target and The Standard apartments, the hotel is exceptional in every aspect. Part of the Marriott brand, AC lives up to the Marriott standard in cleanliness. The interior design, the public areas, the room, including the bathroom - beautiful, modern and minimalistic. Very European and very comfortable. The only drawback is the $20 parking charge but all AC hotels charge for parking. Not sure why, it's not like they're in the city where everyone else charges and in Gainesville you get to pay to park in the Target lot. Anyway, it's ok since you're so close to everything. read more

This is a newer, stylish and modern hotel. Valet parking attendants very service oriented and cheerful which was the best part of the stay. The room was clean but housekeeping was seriously lacking. Coffee and creams were not filled and had to be reminded twice. During the reservation process I requested an item (which was on the check list on their web site of things that could have been requested). The request was not fulfilled and after three times of questioning the front desk, I gave up. Not sure I will return. read more

The RUDEST and WORST Staff and manager (Matt) ever. They NEVER cleaned my room at all over my stay. The manager Matt is NOT helpful at all. I had an issue with a staff member and he was short with me and spoke to me like I was a child. Second of all it is so gross I checked in and ask for my room to be cleaned during my stay. They never came or sent towels I had to call several times to get towels. They charged the wrong credit card on file and worst they charge $30 Valet Only to park in Gainesville !!!!!!!!!!! I hope someone from corporate Marriot reaches out and please retrain the staff there most are just clueless. read more

Marriott did well with their AC Hotels. The designs are very clean, sharp lines, geometrically satisfying with a feng shui feel. Valet personnel were very polite and respectful, the bartender created great cocktails, and the lobby offered a self serve lavender satchel station. Our 1 bedroom 2 room suite, was very clean and had no issues with the exception of our room phone not working. I appreciated the rainfall shower head and supplied toiletries. Terrible hotel I have received mulitple charges in the same amount on my credit card from this hotel. I am not sure, but I am dealing with my credit card at the moment since al Idid was stay 2 nights here. Trying to figure out why my card was charged 3 times in the same incrament and my credit card agreees something st this hotel is not right. I prefer to reach out to the card rather han the hotel who fradulatenly added charges when I clearly have an eail with the confirmaion on what should have been charged. My advice find another hotel this one is also very run down the rooms itself smelled musty. read more

Great location, I enjoyed walking around UF in the morning, and there's a Target and Chick-Fil-A in the same complex. Also a Publix supermarket across the street. Not satisfied whatsoever. When paying 200+/night, the least you should expect is a clean room. Granted, the bedroom itself was clean, but the bathroom...that's another story. The walls in the shower are tiled. Usually a nice thing. However, if you look closely at the grout lines, you'll notice black fungus throughout. The shower floor was no better. It was white by color, but many black spots (assuming mildew) throughout. When I showered the first time I was slipping on the scum. I made it a point to only shower by throwing a clean shower towel over the entire shower floor. It appears to me with this pandemic, there really isn't any cleanliness happening. very disappointed and won't be back. John read more

Terrific location but does not meet basic standards of cleanliness or customer service. Most employees are nice and the building aesthetics are nice. If you are Marriott elite your status will not mean much here at all. We purchased our own upgrade to a one bedroom suite to ensure we would have a separate bed for our daughter. When we walked in the room smelled horrible. It smelled like a pet kennel. We purchased candles and spray to make do. The ability to walk to Target was nice. Went to take a shower only to find hairs and used bar of soap in the shower indicating it had not been cleaned. Pulled out the sofa bed and saw the stain that was absolutely disgusting on the mattress and potentially a bio hazard. Messaged the hotel to notify them and show them. We were hoping that they would offer to move us or change out the mattress but we never had a message back. We had a long day at the University the next day and housekeeping did not even come the second day nor did we receive any message back. This could be a great hotel but the attention to detail does not follow standards of service for Marriott. The location is terrific this the two stars. If cleanliness is important to you then I would encourage you to read all reviews unlike what we did before booking. If location is the most important and you do not mind the high price to value then go for it. read more

We checked in at midnight after driving all day with two kids. When we arrived we found that the only parking for the hotel is valet which costs and extra $28. It's a crowded area and there is no where to park. The valet was really cold and frazzled and hurried. That really wouldn't be a big issue if it weren't for the other problems we experienced. Within the first hour in our room the low flow toilet clogged. No one even went number 2. We just couldn't get the thing to flush. We decided to live with it and try to get some rest. Trying to fall asleep we discovered the air conditioner fan made a high pitched grinding sound. We tried to sleep until at 5 am when I couldn't deal with it anymore. I called the front desk and they told me all they could do was switch us rooms but it would take a few minutes. I hung up and we began packing everything and getting ready to move. When we were down we sat around waiting for the front desk to call back. When they finally did they told us because we didn't book directly with the hotel they could not "change our reservation" and switch our rooms. My sister worked for Marriott so I know this is incorrect. I told them that I cannot deal with it anymore and I can't get any sleep in the hotel room I just paid $200 a night for. I booked through Expedia for those that wish to The gentleman said he would have to try to get in touch with someone else to see if there was an "override code". We sat and waited longer. Finally the desk clerk came and knocked and handed us a key for another room on a lower floor. We were glad to switch rooms but ended up in a much, much smaller room. I was grateful for the sleep but really poor customer service. They never offered any kind of concession or discount for the inconvenience. They didn't really seem concerned at all. It seemed more like they didn't want to deal with us and decided to put us in a smaller room on a lower floor, as punishment for complaining? I don't know. Left a bad taste in my mouth for sure. A warning for people who may be bothered by it. The bar is in the lobby right by the front desk. Checking in later at night you will encounter college kids partying loudly on the lobby. Laying around in the furniture, making out. This might not be the best situation with kids. read more

Wanted to take a shower no fresh towels or shampoos ! Called the front desk to request it 30 min ago nothing has happened ! Now that's very disappointing to say the least ! I decided to do a quick trip to Gainesville to visit a friend who moved there recently. I started to look for hotels in the area and remembered I had a bunch of points from Marriott. Lucky for me, I had enough for a free night! When I arrived, I discovered you really can only valet park your car. There is very little street parking. Parking was 20 or 25 bucks a night and my points don't cover that! I checked in and the young lady at the desk was very nice. I was not able to use the Marriott App to check in or get a room key so I had to stop in at the desk. The hotel is super modern in decor and I did enjoy the look and feel of the hotel. Like some others have said, there is a 'smell' in the lobby. They had large fans blowing on some wet rugs by the front door so maybe they have a leak that keeps getting things wet. I was up on the 7th floor and found the room to be very nice. Since I had time before meeting my friend for cocktails downstairs at the bar, I decided to try out the pool on the top floor. I went up and spent about an hour there relaxing. Nobody else was up there while I was there and unfortunately, rain clouds rolled in and it started to rain. I grabbed my stuff and went for the door leading back to the hallway and found I was locked out. There is a red button to push that should unlock the door but it did not work. Lucky, there was someone going to the gym and saw me trying to get back in. I enjoyed a quick shower before getting ready to go out and soon discovered that getting water on the floor by the bed would be dangerous! LOL... the floor is all marble and became super slippery when wet. Be careful and make sure you dry off! LOL... I went to the bar and discovered the best part of this hotel... their bar and the bartenders that man it. Kyle and Josh were amazing! They both know their stuff and created some wonderful drinks for me. They also do an afternoon ceremony for all the customers sitting at the bar. It involves a smoker! If i come back I will stay again here just to have cocktails at this bar. I did have a great nights sleep. The bed was soft and the room was quiet. I did get up early and went downstairs to see what breakfast options I had. They have a breakfast available for 20 bucks a person. Its not free folks... and i don't think it was worth 20 dollars. I should have walked down the street to Chick Fil A and got breakfast for 7 bucks. They had quiche available so I tried it and it was ice cold. I did not see anyway to heat it up. The lady who was the host was very friendly and did explain what was available to me. There are hot dishes that I could order but I did not want to wait for that. I will know to skip this breakfast in the future. Atmosphere - 9 Service - 9 Food - 6 Cocktails - 10 The AC Hotel is very nice but just like anything, it has pros and cons. I will stay here again because it is near my friend, the university, and many of the great restaurants and bars we went to. But its shining star is the AC Bar! The hotel itself was nice, however, they decided to unlock room 417 next to us with a crowbar in the middle of the night. At first I thought it was just a very noisy person but the noise persisted for I don't know how long since there isn't a clock in the room. But I would guess at least 45 min. Finally I looked to see a large man with a crowbar and a flashlight, not in a distinguishable uniform. I called downstairs and was told that the lock froze and so engineering had to open it. That's was just before 1:00 am. It took me several hours to fall back to sleep. They did adjust bill for one night (104, plus took off valet which is the only parking available). At this point I still need to call back to question my bill because the printout doesn't look right. (Also, the lock next door still wasn't fixed by morning so I don't see why they had to start on it at midnight!) Also the shower was moldy and I have photos but don't know how to post. After I checked in, another person was complaining about how her room was not cleaned properly and there were dirty marks on the pillow and one pillow didn't even have a pillowcase on it. Wallpaper in bathroom peeling. At breakfast, we only had 15 min before I had to get my daughter to UF previews. I only took a couple of bites of my open faced sandwich so I asked for a box. The lady at the buffet, who only mentioned the buffet so I don't know if you can order a la carte, said they don't have boxes because they like to encourage eating in the dining room. So I said ok. I will be back then she miraculously found a to-go box. I doubt we will be back to this specific hotel. read more

Absolutely a top hotel to stay at in Gainesville. The modern and chic AC hotel has wonderful customer service. Valet parking is the only option so keep that in mind when booking. For only $150 a night you have a beautiful stone bathroom with multiple shower head choices. They have a bar and great fitness room available. They do love fragrances in the lobby which is overwhelming but the quality of the stay is worth it. read more

I stayed at the hotel with some of my colleagues on a Monday night. This was one of the better priced, nicer properties in Gainesville. Make sure to note that this is a valet only property. So that may make your stay more expensive. The lobby is very nice, with great furniture, and a pretty nice bar. The check and experience was smooth, and friendly. The breakfasts in the morning was quite unusual for a hotel, but very good. They had some options up in a buffet style, but then a couple hot breakfast options included with the buffet that they would make in the kitchen and bring out for you. We really enjoyed the food quite a bit. Great egg dishes. The rooftop pool was very nice but pretty cold. The view was great, you could see the entire Florida campus, and right into the football stadium. The rooms were pretty minimalistic, and very clean. I really enjoyed the look. The only negative things I noticed, what is that since my room was underneath the gym on the top floor, I was woken up early in the morning around 6:30 AM to the sound of weights banging. Also I tried to have a meeting with some of my coworkers in the lobby, but the music was so loud even during breakfast, we had to move elsewhere. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay, and would very much like to stay there again. read more

First time staying in an AC Marriott. This one is close to the stadium and also has a Publix, Target and a few casual restaurants in easy walking distance. The rooms are laid out well, with good storage for bags on tables and sitting benches to keep bags off the floor and store shoes or whatever underneath. Small hanging space for clothes as well. The light colored flooring is attractive and (should be) more sanitary than carpet. The bar downstairs is nice! Valet was friendly and helpful. Those are the pros. However, two big cons: The room was dirty. The floor was absolutely disgusting. It's some kind of laminate which could be easily cleaned with a mop. Hence the advantage over carpet! But my socks were completely black on the bottoms after walking on it for one evening. So. Gross. Bathroom had not been cleaned well. Sink and counter had stains. Bought Clorox wipes next door at Target to wipe it down. Stains came right off. Other con- it's easy to hear people next door and in hallway. We stayed on a quiet Monday night before Thanksgiving, so the hotel was quiet. But we still heard people talking in the hallway as if they were in our room. On a game weekend it could be loud. read more

Stayed here two nights along with lots of family who stayed in the same hotel. I really wanted to enjoy my stay but felt it difficult. This hotel is too try hard. Young staff who seem like they are still learning the ropes. My whole stay I felt nickel and dimed. The rate was cheap ($113/night for king suite. Pros: -Clean and modern. -Bed was comfy. -Marriott app is cool to unlock your room from your phone. -They text you and ask how it's going, and reply with answers if you have questions. -Chick-fil-a and Taco Bell next door! -I did lose one of my keys and they said not to worry about it so that was generous. -They accommodate for our party and put us next to each other. Cons: -Entrance is poorly marked. -Small fridge and no microwave. -Elevators were slow (lol never thought I'd put that down as a con but it became so annoying I had to) -Literally no parking and the forced valet service was a ruckus. Valet was $15 per day and you have to use it, plus tipping. You can't use the luggage carts yourself without throwing a big fight (basically you have to threaten to carry everything manually instead). I was told it was because of liability?... -The cologne smell that is sprayed in the lobby is too much. The taste lingered in your mouth. -Breakfast is additional at $15 a plate for an adult and $9 a plate for kids. Small seating area for breakfast. -This is not a kid friendly hotel, but that's okay, it doesn't seemed to be designed that way so I won't necessarily blame them. -My shower leaked everywhere onto the floor, as did many other people in our party. -Hotel bar is meh. Bartender seemed pretty cool though, lots of interesting crafted drinks. Usual story, selling wine and drinks at 200% markup. -My brother purchased his room with Chase reward points. (He's a very experienced traveler and uses his points frequently at Marriott). That got completely screwed up and Marriott did not honor it, made him pay immediately but not after waiting in the lobby for 45 minutes trying to occupy a 7 month old. read more

Hotel was "ok". I thought the rooms were very cold and stale: too modern for my taste. No carpet, black walls etc. We were in room 214, awful location that overlooked the AC units. The hotel also had a smell of raw sewage in the lobby, luckily no smell in the rooms. Location is good for the college area but quite a walk to get downtown to some nice bars/restaurants. Next time we will stay at the Hampton downtown. read more
