What else would I watch on Christmas?
    Steven M.

The Red Roof in is one of those hotel chains that I've never had an issue with. Is this a stripped down hotel with just the basics? Yes, but what else do you really need when you just need a clean place to sleep? I ended up staying here last week for a single night and I had a solid experience. The one thing I always give an extra star for is when a hotel not only allows dogs, but allows them to stay for free (any hotel that charges for dogs is scum and you can't prove me wrong, children are way grosser then my extremely clean and neat dog). The staff was super friendly throughout my stay, the grounds were fairly clean, the room was clean, and that's all I have to say. If you need a cheap place to stay for a night in the Mansfield, MA area, come check this place out!

Need a cheap place? Lack of a sense of smell? And have a pet? If so, this is the place for you! I always try to give businesses the benefit of the doubt and be generous with my ratings, but, I just can't with this place. When you pull up, it appears like the drive up area is under construction, but very poorly. Sheet rock is visible and lack of signage is obvious. As soon as you open the door, you smell the mustiness of the place. The front counter receptionist took a while to greet us, but the mustiness made feel like too long. I hope as as we went upstairs to our room, the smell would go away...but was I in for a rude awakening. The elevator is extremely slow, so we walked up every time. It's ok, that was not the reason for the low rating. As we walked upstairs and through the hallway, the mustiness wasn't too bad, as we opened the door....wow. It was bad. We quickly placed our items on the wooden desk and ran out for Lysol and Clorox wipes. As we left, staff members were outside smoking (in a non smoking area complaining about the guests, who only go to attend concerns at the XFinity Center). We returned and tried to wipe the whole place down and spray it down. We also bought new bedding at a nearby Kohl's, because ours was stained. As we left to our concert, we were confident we addressed the issue. When we returned from the concert the mustiness easily overpowered our attempts to clean the room. FYI - the pool was also dirty. We shut off the heat to stop the smell from spreading. This was most effective but we were cold all night and could barely sleep with the temperature and easily heard hallway conversations and dogs barking. We woke up bright and early, and left as soon as possible. The good news is I learned a life lesson...just because it's cheap, doesn't make it worth it. Looking back amount spent on bedding and cleaning products, plus lack of sleep and mustiness smell, I would've just taken an Uber home.

Well, this is probably one of the top 5 worst hotels I've stayed in. And I have even stayed at a lot of hotels during the Pandemic. I mean the overall cleanliness was good and it was a safe area. That was the only two things good about the stay. It was significantly over priced given that the lack of amenities especially for those that were advertised online. Website stated breakfast and open pool. Neither were available and I've stayed in hotels in Mass. with both available. To list off; 1) Website stated breakfast and open pool. Neither were available and I've stayed in hotels in Mass. with both available. We asked the desk worker about the breakfast and pool and he gave us this snarky remark about the hotel never had a breakfast and for us to go to the stop and shop to get breakfast and the pool is closed because of Covid. Why is the pool closed when the pool is outside and full of chlorine? 2) The AC was broken. The adjustable vent cover was smashed in and absolutely no cold air came out. It was 88 degrees and humid in Mass. and the hotel itself was hot in the hallways. I wanted a working AC. Never have I stayed in a hotel with a broken ac. 3) There was a lot of long black human hair on the bathroom floor and on the bed. Which I can understand being in the bathroom to a certain extent but not in my bed. I feel that room service should try their best to check the small details of a room. I.e; behind bathroom door, under the sink, behind the toilet, where the wall meets the floor, etc. 4) The bathtub was clogged with this grotesk grey material in the drain and was constantly fill up. Even if I wanted to take a bath, there were no tub plug. I don't want to take a bath while trying to take a shower. 5) The shower head was somewhat broken? Part of where the water sprays out was spraying on a weird angle and it would cover the floor in water. Even with the curtain closed. I had to manoeuvre the shower head to prevent this. 6) Very low water pressure. Both my husband and I had to stand in the shower for way longer than expected because the water pressure was low. It took forever to wash the soap off. 7) The hot water only lasted for about 3 minutes before getting cold. I had to wait until the hot water came back. Which is very inconvenient while taking a shower. 8) Bed sheets have a noticeable yellowish stains. One can only imagine what it could be 9) There was an unusual splatter of yellow and green substance on the bathroom light. 10) The floor was sticky and wet all over. I had to wear my shoes in my own hotel room. 11) There were dead bugs in the light fixtures and on the table. 13) It appeared that a light switch had some type of mild around it. My husband is very allergic and could end up in the hospital. 14) There were no security cameras in the stairwells. There are signs in the lobby stating 24/hr all around video surveillance but not in the stairwell? I am in fear for others safety. Especially with the MeToo movement and many universities and other businesses trying discourage people from speaking out and covering stuff up. 15) My room had basic cable and had to pay for anything good. Every hotel I've ever been in had lots and lots of channels. Never which I had to pay for. If the hotel would like for me to remove this review I want my money back. I wasted my time and won't get it back from this experience. I feel dirty after leaving. My husband and I paid for two rooms. For us, and his mother. They were way over priced for one night stay. I know for a fact it's Covid related because companies want to make up lost profits by over charging because they know people need/want to travel. But for what I had it was not worth $200+ a night. Between $80-$100, yeah I could settle for that. Overall the experience was not great. I recommend the Holiday Inn express in Middleboro Raynham, to be honest.

Kicked in door with an obviously NEW doorknob. Nice.

The day of the funeral, I received word that another friend had passed the evening before. I came back to the hotel that evening, where I wanted to take in a cigar and a bourbon out back, in honor of my two friends. I found that I had not packed matches or a torch. Miss Taylor quickly came to my rescue by providing me with matches. The kindness didn't stop there. I was provided with a care bag that evening AND the next evening as well. The very best thing I received, was a personalized card, hand written and signed by Miss Taylor and several other members of the staff. It's the personal touch of true kindness that makes this a place I will certainly return to. It is with my deepest gratitude I write this review. Peace be the journey.

I made a reservation and then had to cancel it as a death in the family led to me canceling my entire trip to the area. The woman I spoke with was incredibly nice and understanding and helped me canceled it without issue. A week later I was charged $200 on my card again by Fairfield. I called and spoke with someone who said I need to email proof of the double charge to the hotel email and they would get to it because they were too busy to help me and would call me the next day. I thought that was rather dismissive but said ok and sent the email. Today I called again as I had not heard anything back and spoke to a woman who sounded annoyed the moment she picked up the phone. I explained the situation to her, said I was traveling and was on my layover, and asked if I could speak to someone about this charge. She refused, said everyone was busy, and I could leave my number. I asked to speak with a manager and told her again I had been waiting to be called, hadn't been, and I was traveling so I really couldn't just deal with this later. She told me that "as she's already said" she's busy, the manager is busy, she wasn't going to go find them right now, and I could leave my number or hang up. I gave her my number and told her I wasn't trying to be difficult, I just wanted this random charge off my card and didn't want to go through the process of disputing it. She just said she didn't care and hung up. I've worked in hospitality for years and genuinely cannot believe the experience they thought was acceptable for this situation. I almost always choose Marriott brands when traveling but this might have been it for me. Absolutely will never book here again.

We saw some people hanging around the back the evidently were staying there. The lobby area has had a small remodel and is promising when you walk in. The hotel was empty but my co-worker and I were at opposite ends of the convention style hotel. My first room was bottom floor facing outside. While walking to my room someone in an employee laundry room area was getting high and ran when I walked by. The weed smell didn't stop there. It smelled like someone had just gotten high in my room, wall paper was peeling and was just gross. I almost packed up and left then but called the front desk and asked to move. I told her the issues and I don't think she cared. She at least put me on the second floor a few halls away from my co-worker. It was slightly better I thought. We went to dinner and came back. I walked her to her room because she's younger and pregnant. The halls were filled with pot smell and we are pretty sure a section was dedicated to people living there. I get to my room and when I pulled back the covers the one bed was heavily stained. I thought gross but there's two beds. Well the second one was stained and the pillows too. It was too late to leave so we stayed. Her room was bad but not that bad. I don't believe my room was cleaned/changed after the last stay. Hair was everywhere in the bathroom. Just awful! I've stayed in some shady places but this one ranks up there maybe at the top. Also, I'd expect more out of HI. It may be a while before I can trust to stay with IGH again.

I question the other reviewers that give holiday inn Mansfield 4-5 stars. It does not make sense. I have travelled to China 50 times in the last 10 years, staying many times in the Beijing holiday inn. Mansfield building is old and decrepit and a joke. Other holiday inns are fine. Being an IHG member for 15 years, I now think award points are a waste of time. From now on, my wife and I will book the hotel we can afford based on reviews. Points save 10% over time, but holiday inn would only give me 2 out of 3 days points back after 4 emails to hotel management and 40 min. on call with out-of-US IHG customer service. If you really want to have fun, calculate the "standard deviation" of the reviews on this property. There is no homogeneous pattern in the reviews.... and easy to figure out what is going on here. I urge YELP to investigate holiday inn is lower case of course.

With traffic, we managed to get there at 3. Then we arrived, checked into our room, and the AC wasn't working, and there was a large brown spot on the bed. I called three times over the course of two hours. I asked if they could send a repairman, give us an upgrade, or just a different room, to which they responded that there were no other rooms available and that there was nothing they could do. I think the whole situation could have been improved if the staff had given us a realistic timeline for when our room might be ready, or at least offered alternatives to make us more comfortable, such as cold drinks, or letting us wait in a cooler area. Even just checking in on us with updates would have helped so we felt less ignored. I finally walked up to the desk when nobody was sent, and a very kind manager said she would check it out. When the repairman left our room, we were still stuck without an answer, and returned to the front desk. We said, "We're not picky; we just want an air-conditioned room. We're so hot." The woman at the front desk said, "We feel the same up here with no AC." Finally, we were able to get another room and dropped off our stuff, arriving at the concert just in time. The second room had working AC and looked a bit nicer, but it still wasn't clean. There was mold in the bathroom, another stain on the bed, and we caught about ten bugs that night. The lack of cleanliness made it impossible to relax or feel comfortable. It felt like basic sanitation and upkeep were not a priority here. There are employees here who I can tell are really wonderful and want the place to succeed; it's just getting through 4 or 5 other employees who don't care that makes it impossible. My friend and I planned for this concert for ages and almost missed the beginning after asking for the basics, and then "upgraded" to a room that was less than acceptable. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

The actual convention room for the dance competition is also beautiful and well maintained. The reason for the three star review is because I had to balance out the entrance area with the actual hotel rooms. The hotel rooms are slightly dated and in desperate need of maintenance.
