Room was clean but the beds were uncomfortable because they were so old. One actually sunk in when you sit on it. They have some weird thing about washcloths. Bottom line: good value, nice rooms, great free Wifi. Late check-in last night (Exhibit 1:, see previous review concerning Logan Hertz rental experience) but were greeted by a cheerful front desk clerk (hospitality trivia: this position is generally called the "nighttime auditor") who gently let us know our dining options at such a late hour were mostly found in the non-sandwich carrying vending machine located on the way to the pool. With the last solids ingested over a fortnight prior (OK, a forthour... I think we had breakfast at around 11:00 maritime time), several among our party (of 3) were keenly interested in breaking bread somewhere. In fact, we did break said bread - but in the form of Kar's sweet & salty mix, Nabisco's belvita, Austin's toasty crackers WITH cheddar cheese AND Nature Valley's crunchy oats n' honey granola bars. Not precisely the health-minded intake of the previous week - but satisfying in the short term. So... Red Roof Inn DOES offer a variety of solids to choose from in the machine. The rooms are nicely appointed. It's very clear this company is seeking to up its game through a "PLUS" program. Furniture, bedding, tech and bathroom appointments indicate an effort to catch the eye of a higher segment of the road warrior market. With Boston being leagues more expensive than NYC in terms of centrally located accommodations, we were pushed out to this location in order to fit the budget we laid out (2 rooms, 3 nights). Given this was strictly a sleeping base-camp, this hotel more than accommodates us. There's continental breakfast from 6:30-9:30, a large indoor pool, and a strong wifi presence that covers out to the parking lot. For those seeking to spend their entire Boston stay INSIDE their hotel room, there are certainly many worse rooms in the greater Boston MSA to do so, but for those of you wishing to have a conveniently located base-camp, this is it. read more

The good: cheap. Way cheap. Lots of easily accessible fast food options. Did I mention cheap? The bad: the free WIFI was about as fast as a 28.8 dial up modem. Absolutely pathetic. The ugly: loud, loud, loud a/c-heater and a barren continental breakfast. If you need a place to crash overnight, or even for a couple of days, it's quite reasonable. Just, don't expect to get online. I was hooked up with my laptop through the hotel wifi, and with my iPad tethered through the 3G in my phone... My daughter and I were on our way to Maine and at 9:30 pm we couldn't find any place to stay. I called the Red Roof Inn 800 number and a very nice woman told me this was the only place available in a 40 mile radius. She booked me the room and also managed to give me a discount which was a big bonus in my desperate state. The staff were very nice and the room was very clean. The only issue we had was the smoke alarm was set off by the steam from the bathroom shower which was a bit of a shock but the staff were very attentive to the problem. I would recommend this Red Roof Inn to anyone looking for a pleasant stop over on their way to the wilds of New England. read more

I have stayed here with my family two different times, and we have had a wonderful experience both times. The hotel is dog-friendly, which is a huge plus for us! We travel with our dogs often and finding a pet friendly hotel that is also budget friendly is often challenging. The breakfast that the hotel offers is very nice, but it doesn't get restocked regularly, so it is the case of the early bird catching the worm. It is available from 6:30-9:30, but the difference of what is available when I have been there at 6:45-7 am vs. 8:45-9:30 am is like night and day. The pool is stunning. Its well maintained, very clean and the hours are pretty good (open until 10 pm!). The rooms are really very nice. They are newly renovated, hardwood floors, comfy beds and pillows, the bathroom is really nice with a deep bathtub, a great shower head with good water pressure, and the sink is nice too. The room also had a mini fridge and microwave, and had a power strip across the front of the night stand. The heat and a/c worked great too and there was no smells and very little noise issues (and we were right across from the vending machines, washer/ dryer, and ice). The location is great being right off the highway. Its about 20 minutes to Boston, Salem, and Concord. As for the staff-- I arrived late at night both times and I was always treated nicely and was able to check in quickly. Surprisingly I have needed to wait for someone to come to the desk to check out for a while, but you can also check out on the phone if you have to leave, so thats not as big of a deal. Overall, this is one of my go-to places to stay in the greater boston area. Easy to get to, good prices, pet friendly, nice rooms, great pool, and breakfast! read more

On our last trip to Boston we stayed at the Fairfield Inn close by, but we saw the Red Roof Inn on our way to a restaurant. We thought the location was slightly better because we could walk across the street to restaurants, a small mall, and grocery store. Well, first off, upon check in there was a small line. No big deal, but the lady, Maria, could have gone a little faster if she had not continued to have personal conversations (in Spanish) with another employee while she was working. I do not care that she was speaking Spanish as we're bilingual, but I think she thought if she spoke Spanish we would not know she was having a personal conversation. No offense, but when you're at work, you should work! As soon as you are done with checking us in, you can get back to your gossip. The hotel did have a weird and not so clean smell. It appeared clean, but smelled dirty. Hard to explain.... Our room was very clean, though. We were quite pleased. The beds were somewhat comfy. We appreciated that there was a mini fridge and microwave. The AC worked well too. The door lock on the bathroom did not work at all, and the lock on the door was a little glitchy as well. They really could use some maintenance on parts of the hotel. The breakfast was not good at all. We saw the offerings and knew we'd go out to eat instead. Did not look clean. The boiled eggs had lots of water in the container at the bottom which looked gross. Very clean rooms which is 90% of what I was looking for, but I think they need to maintain the rest of the hotel too and all door locks should work. read more

This is one of the nicest Red Roof Inns at which I've stayed. My visit was during the pandemic. That said, it was really clean. Hopefully, it is always this way, but I appreciated it nonetheless. There is ample lawn space outside to walk your dog. The reception staff was very friendly. read more

Stayed here over night, we had a horrible experience. Front desk was not happy to be there. We found a mans pair of shorts in the corner, old milk in fridge along with coleslaw. We brought with gloves on to the front desk, no sorries,etc...then all night from 5 til 1 am they were what sounded like jackhammering in the hall way trying to fix their air conditioner hall units, which the rug was sop an wet.. i called the front desk twice...nothing was done. I will never stay at this establishment ever again. The baseboard was coming off(room 312), there was paint bubbling and chipping off in the shower.(room 326) When you take a shower, the water was clogging up. We had to switch rooms because our door to room 312 would not open with any key card. The maintenance guy tried to get the door open by taking the batteries out and using a machine which was ineffective. The entire time our dog was locked inside the room for near over 2 hours of us trying to get in the room, which a hole had to be sawed in the door for us to open while we heard the phone conversation between the maintenance worker and his boss which the bosses top priority seemed to be the door safety instead of doing what was needed to get the door open for our dog. This overall was a horrible experience which left a displeasing taste, the company was completely understaffed leaving the desk employee to handle the entire hotel duties which can show why the rooms where in horrible shape. The hotel needs to make an adjustment with making sure all door locks are up to date and at working standard so nobody else gets stuck in that predicament. read more

Despite getting a no-smoking room, everything smelled like cigarettes. Didn't bother changing rooms because the whole hotel smells that way. Walls were thin and found 2 mouse turds. The heating/ac unit constantly would heat and would not stop at set climate control temperature. When we politely addressed this after a sleepless night, front desk lady acts annoyed. Maintenance guys didn't speak English well enough to understand the issue and kept telling us the heater works (clearly not the issue). Staff did not seem to care and only offered to change our room. It's my first night out of my 4 and I finally am realizing how much I adore the little things. Clean sheets, nice thick towels, clean floors, clean tub, complementary coffee (all the time), updated bathrooms and I mean luxury style sinks, lamps above each bed for more nightstand space, keycard for room. For 4 nights they gave me a discount because I stayed over 2 nights so my room with refrigerator and microwave was a average of $109 a night! I just left another hotel I paid more for that I got much less for. My two complaints are 1. There is a envelope stating a quote from a travel agent saying it's hotel etiquette to pay $2-5 each day per guest to hotel staff. My husband and I give 10$ after every stay no mater how short and honestly that was just the biggest turn off, that's the only time I've ever been reminded to tip by the company. 2. The elevators are clunky and passed the inspection experation date. Eeek. But I can take the stairs, it's hardly a complaint. Great staff. Great location, great price. read more

Great hotel if you're planning to get out an see Boston! Inexpensive, compared to other hotels around (especially for Patriot's weekend and the Boston marathon weekend where prices skyrocket!). Our rooms were clean, had hardwood floors (which was great). The staff wasn't seen often, but when we needed something they were happy to help. The hotel provided a continental breakfast - nothing fancy, but enough to get you going in the morning. It's definitely not an upscale hotel. Nothing fancy or luxurious about this place, but it's a 20min drive from Boston city center, Salem, and Lexington. There is a grocery store across the street if you need any other items, which is helpful too! I would definitely stay here again! read more

If I could give this zero Stars I would. I needed a place to stay for a week am I booked the room for me and my three children. I was put in a room with very uncomfortable beds and sheets that looked dirty. There was no mention of the pool being out of service for we were looking for a hotel with a pool to relax and have some fun in. There was no snacks in the vending machine and lady at the front desk seemed like she had no idea what she was doing. Our room was next to a room with a dog that constantly barked the whole stay. From what I gathered was there was no management as there was the whole property being sold or whatnot. I called and complained on how dirty and uncomfortable with my stay was and was not offered anything else. Their website did not say the pool was down or there was no management and the breakfast was nasty. Always tour your hotel before you book it. And yes I am a smoker and to watch drug deals occur in the designated smoking area was probably not my favorite part. read more

stayed at this hotel over the weekend for one night and it wasnt bad. the room was clean and kept up to par. i wish the shower pressure was a little higher but maybe some other people were showering at the same time haha who knows. the only issue i have is the breakfast in the morning. it was a pretty poor excuse for breakfast, the waffles were definitely defrosted eggos. the cereal was off brand. the muffins were okay but the bread was stale looking. unfortunately there was not many options, next time ill head over to dunkin donuts or something read more

Horrible expereinces5. Last time I stayed assistant manager Cara called me a liar threaten to have police come after I spoke to front desk night before and got told I didn't with my complaint. I had a food delivery and he did witness me,speaking to front desk. The manager Dan called me next day was condensing and rude and never got back to me. I am assuming the person I spoke to back tracked as she was probably petrified on those 2. I would not recommend this establishment and corporate office was just as rude. This has to be the worst place we have every stayed. Getting to the room, they had to come up and fix the TV. From there, the room had no soap or shampoo. Finding a maid in the hall, she said "NO SOAP". The towels felt like sand paper and the "breakfast" was cold hard boiled eggs and muffins. Not to mention that the front desk area was not clean, there was no pen and paper in the room and the stopper in the sink did not work. My friends recently came to visit from buffalo for Halloween so we decided to rent a hotel while they were here. After reading great reviews about this place and seeing pictures we booked the room. When we arrived we were surprised at how nice the room was... Boy were we wrong! When we asked for a rollaway bed we were told it would be $30. A little steep but okay, when we went to pay she said "oh wait we don't have any tonight." We ended up going to Walgreens and buying a $14 air mattress but when we asked for extra blankets and pillows she told us no. They also only would give us two towels at a time even when telling her there are 4 of us staying in the room. The second day we returned to the hotel at 9pm and our room had not been touched by housekeeping. I went downstairs to tell them and get more towels and she handed me two towels and said that they would soba full clean the next morning. Which didn't happen, again. Besides the bad customer service the sheets and towels were also stained. I'd spend your money somewhere else if I were you. read more

There are few hotel desks as rude as this. Actually, no. There's no other hotel desk I have seen of this kind. I was sent here by the Fairfield Inn Woburn because they were undergoing construction. They had made a booking in my name authorized by their credit card. They even had a confirmation number. The man at the front desk refuses to accept the reservation. Rudely tells me there's nothing he can do. I then call up the Fairfield to confirm they have a reservation here. She does and asks to speak with the RRI person. The RRI man says I don't speak with anyone over someone else's cell phone. I mean really! The Fairfield Inn lady tries to call him but no one picks?up the phone. Apparently they are too busy. Nevermind that the front desk has ONE person manning it while no less than three people are relaxing in the nook behind the reception. So ultimately there's a stalemate and I am stranded. I wouldn't EVER want to come back to this place. read more

Booked this hotel online and when I got there I was refused my room because I'm 20 1/2 and not 21. This was after waiting a half hour for my room to be ready. If you have this discriminatory policy, at least check to make sure I'm above this arbitrary age so you don't waste an hour of my time. Got this hotel on an express deal on priceline. First impressions were a little odd. They have a very small lobby area and after check in the elevator ride was a little shaky. The hallway was average and then the room, .........not bad. The decor was fairly sharp. TV mounted to the wall and it was a nice large room with huge windows. The only weird thing was the floor was vinyl wood planks throughout. Only a small area of carpet between the double bed. Its a little odd to walk on a hard surface in your room area, especial when you get out of the shower with no shoes on. Also this hotel did not have conditioner or lotion only shampoo. One very good thing was the water pressure in the shower was wonderful, alot of hotels are lacking water pressure and is very bothersome when trying to get shampoo out of your hair. There was a microwave and refrigerator too. I've seen on other reviews that there are new rooms and old rooms here not sure which this was. The free breakfast was one of the weakest I've seen. No hot items except automatic pancakes. And no brewed decaf coffee only instant, yuk. Yugurt, cereal, muffins and toast, hard boiled eggs and apples and oranges. I did not try the pool, but it was indoor and very large. I'm sure it's great for families. There is a lot of stores and restaurants nearby as well so that is nice if you need anything during your stay. And this is also not far from Boston and Salem although I was just passing through for business. The service was nice and friendly and the hotel was overall clean and comfortable. I would stay again when in this area as I got it for $84 on priceline. read more

I stayed here for a long time. 14 days. It was in the summer and paid around $110/night Pros: -rooms were big. - right next to a market basket, a cvs, and a few shops including tjmaxx and home goods Cons: -rooms weren't clean. I stayed here for two weeks and there had been days where my trash weren't taken out, days where there was water on the floor, days where it just seemed only the bed was made. - one day the room wasn't cleaned at all. I left at 8am and came back around 6:30 and I was like what... There were some cleaning ladies outside and there was someone down my hallway so I asked why my room wasn't cleaned. They started talking to one another in Spanish and just walked away. ?!?! I asked someone again and some wave of hand and they all left. I asked again and one person was like "sorry can't help" and I was left there again. I went to the front desk and by the time I finally got to speak (after waiting in line for thirty minutes) all the cleaning ladies had already left work. I was just confused I guess. My room was empty the whole day and I saw someone cleaning other rooms in the hallway but somehow mine was forgotten... read more

Paid only about $80 for two nights. The rooms are surprisingly comfy, they are updated. Its close to the city, which is only 20 minutes away which is a plus. The only thing I found off place is that when we entered the room, there was actually a guy painting the wall? I'm not sure why the hotel would give us a room they would be working on. They also only provide 2 towels in the room although there were r of us in the room. Overall it is good in quality. The only inconvenience is how far you have to walk if you are at the other end of the building. There is an elevator on the front entry and is the only existing one. You can take the stairs on the other end if you are on the other side but its not that convenient when you have luggage. read more

We arrived at 2 am from Southern California and were exhausted. We had prepaid for the room and requested 2 queen beds. We got there and my mother who was traveling with us, thought she might want her own room after all and asked for any other rooms. They said there were none avb. They only had one room left. which we ended up with. The beds were doubles, not queens. The room seemed to be newly renovated but the cover to the A/C kept falling off and we had to take the lid off the toilet to flush it. We got up early and spent the day out and asked them to fix it. Easy Reservations online. The staff were courteous and genuinely pleasant. It was a little noisy in the hall right up until 10:30. THEN, as if by MAGIC, it all became peaceful and eerily quiet.... I was extremely grateful for the $100 room that I only had to pay $170 + tax for, and the stay was ok, but, I got that this is in a changing demographic area or motel. some parts are very upscale (the rooms are pretty good and the price is not cheap), and some parts are pretty down market and grim (like the breakfast and attitude on both sides of the counter at checkin. read more

My girlfriend is very particular and we could have spent as much as 2-300.00 for a night, but for a couple hours of sleep this place is great. New everything in the room and the location is perfect.
