Billings, I have a new favorite place to eat in town!! This is some good, home town cooking. My husband got the special....note to self, ALWAYS get the special. I got the turkey avocado sandwich which was great also! I loved the cranberry dressing that came on the sandwich. All the flavors complimented one another so well. For the side, I got the ham and pea split soup. Their soups are homemade and nothing short of spectacular. Give this place and try and you won't regret it! read more

Ate here on a Wednesday at 9am. The place was nearly full. Food was good. What you'd expect from a "country kitchen" type of restaurant.

We came in for breakfast for the first time and really enjoyed it. The waitress was very attentive, friendly and fast. We passed through Billings on a family road trip! We were looking for lunch at a local place that was reasonable and could easily tolerate two elementary aged kids that had been trapped in the car for hours. We found the Red Rooster Cafe in a google search and decided to stop. Food was fantastic, fresh, quick, and delicious! She made sure the kids plates were or first so they could go ahead and eat...and the adults weren't far behind! Try to turkey, Swiss, avocado wrap with homemade cranberry stuff! All 5 of us ate for just over $37 and got full! The place is clean and the service was amazing (from the very personable owner!) Couldn't recommend this delightful cafe more! read more

This place is a hidden gem in Billings. I googled best homemade breakfast in Billings and tried a couple of the spots before coming to Red Rooster but haven't tried any more SINCE coming to Red Rooster. It is my go-to breakfast spot, the food is always absolutely fabulous, it tastes like actual home cooking "like grandma used to make". My husband and I are from Texas/Florida and we've lived all over the nation coast to coast, top to bottom and we both guarentee Red Rooster holds it's own against any breakfast spot you've ever been to. PLUS THEY DELIVER! You can't beat that! If you're from the south try their biscuits and gravy, I bet you'll be hard pressed to say you've had much better. read more

I'm not sure how this place got such good reviews but my food was AWFUL. I ordered my food to go, the scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon. It came with hash brown and toast. When I looked at the eggs I wasn't sure if they were pancakes or eggs. It was like they just poured them on the grilled, browned them and put cheese on it, no scramble or mixing at all. It really looked like a dry yellow pancake with cheese. Eeeeck!! The bacon was burned, couldn't even eat all of it. And the hash brown lacked seasoning and just inedible. I ended up throwing my food in the trash. On the flip side the cashier was really friendly. This place was just not my cup of tea and so not worth the $20 I paid. read more

Had breakfast here last week and it was great! Hot, fast and plentiful. The staff was really nice and down home atmosphere. I would have given five stars but I only got one cup of coffee despite leaving my cup on the end of the table for the whole time I was there, by the time I got asked if I wanted more it was time to leave. Ordered the chicken-fried steak and two eggs with hash brown and homemade sausage. Everything tasted good but could be JUST a bit better. The homemade sausage patty was delicious in flavor but too dry... the has browns on the edges were crispy and delicious but the ones on the inside were too greasy. We were happy enough with it to go again, and love all the jellies and jams that are for sale too. I am hoping this place will improve over time -- really cute! Great local place, owned and operated by a lady who has her priorities straight. Closed weekends so she can be with her children. Really large portions, presented with love. Unreal, it's been a couple of days and I'm still stewing on this one. Family is in town staying at my place; while I'm at work they go down to the Red Rooster cafe to get a to-go order of the Reuben sandwich. Once at home they find that the rye bread is burnt soooo bad that it is crisp black burnt a 1/4" deep into the rye, totally unedible! They are not the type to say anything but never go back. Whoever cooked and loaded this order into the to-go box shouldn't even have the job of washing dishes. Especially if they're not thorough enough to see this meal was completely ruined and charred. There are way too many restaurants in this town to return to this one. read more

My wife and I love the Red Rooster. Yummy goodness abounds. We don't go as often as we'd like because of the weekday only hours but it's well worth every time we have a chance to partake. The new owner Misty, had been waiting on us as a server for a couple of years and is now the proprietor!!! Of course she is still providing the same top notch service and food. read more
