We came here for my brother's birthday and I really enjoyed it. Here are my highlights... Food: I enjoyed my dish and I like that they have a well rounded menu. You can enjoy some comfort food or you can keep it a little cleaner with a salad. They also note that they source local produce whenever possible to highlight the best of the seasons, and their eggs, chicken, pork and beef are 100% pasture-raised and sourced from small, sustainable local farms. Can't ever complain when a restaurant serves up delicious, quality food! Atmosphere: I love the vibe and look of Red Rooster. It's pretty chill and low key. I like the location, too. It's always a plus when the parking is not ridiculous. Service: Our server was nice and attentive. My only complaints would be that it did seem to take a while for the food to come out BUT it was also a Saturday night. One of my favorite places to eat. The character of this place is great, the place is cozy and the food and drinks do not disappoint. I've tried several things off their menu and almost everything I want to try back again although I love trying new things. Many options for vegetarians. One thing. Great find in OKC! We were pleasantly surprised by the variety in the menu and the indoor and outdoor seating available. Great place for casual upscale dining. The server was really nice and very helpful. The veggie burger with fingerling potatoes, fish and chips, and the fried chicken sandwich were great. The masa grit cakes were okay probably my least favorite. The drink menu had lots of variety. I believe happy hour is from 3-6 on Mon-Fri for select cocktails! I used to spend a lot of time at the ol' Rooster. Like, way too much. There were cute boys I was following around, and they liked it there, so I liked it there. I actually hated it, but such is the nature of your twenties. You could smoke inside then, and they only served beer, and it was just pretty bad. There was Band of Horses on the juke, and booths in need of repair. The new Rooster is amazing. It looks like a movie set for a scene set in a super awesome bar. Who knew this building had such amazing high ceilings, who knew such a grimy old bar could be made completely amazing, with beautiful new windows, tile, light fixtures, wonderful furniture, great music, exceptional local farms represented on the menu, and above all, a wonderful, beautiful, centerpiece of a bar. It is a testament to the vision that some people have that this is even possible. If I lived in this neighborhood, I'd be absolutely over the moon. My lemon drop was so delicious, I let myself have two. Best decision I've ever made! And, as it is germane to this conversation, a reminder to the ladies currently in their 20s: If he's not following YOU around like you're the coolest person on the planet... if he doesn't remember that your favorite drink is vodka with fresh-squeezed grapefruit, and show up at your house with a bottle of Gray Goose and a bag of grapefruits, then he's not the man for you. read more

This is such a classy place! I loved all the gold and mirrors. The bar was extremely comfortable, and there is a very strong bar selection and a respectable wine list. We were helped every time we started to raise our eyes. The restroom was very rustic, clean, and private. Lower lighting than the dining room and a very nicely scented candle set the mood and puts you instantly at ease to take care of business. My date and I ordered the BLT, asparagus, and the braised pork tacos. And, wow. Just wow. We were plenty stuffed when we were finished with the amazing food they set in front of us. We finished off with their specialty banana split which had peanut butter ice cream and pretzel brittle as well as a carmelized banana. I highly recommend a trip or two to the Red Rooster. read more

This seems to be a hidden gem. Cute small restaurant with a bar and friendly staff. We enjoyed a quite lunch. Our server was attentive but not overbearing. I started off with a lemon twist - quite delicious. I had the Chicken paillard sandwich - no side items but the sandwich was filling. I highly recommend it. I ended the meal sharing a Banana Split. This is not your ordinary banana split. This one has peanut butter ice cream and the bananas are brûlée's. OMG - just skip the meal and go for dessert. read more

If I could walk here, like so many can, I would hardly ever cook! It's that good! I like the height of the back bar along with the easy seating - bar, 2 tops and booths. It was very comfortable. Everyone from toddlers on up joined in on the hum of the conversation. Not too loud, but you knew everyone as happy! We shared the Smoked Salmon, Cobb and Rooster Burger. Each was equally delicious! I'm a stickler for salads and these were both fresh, had perfectly cooked "jam" eggs and yummy dressing (on the side). The Rooster Burger had the shiniest bun I'd ever seen! This place has had a MAJOR facelift. Very beautiful and looks very modern/mid century/country kitchen chic. I only had a couple of drinks and appetizers, but judging from my experience with the tapas and seeing the rest of the menu it seems like a pretty legit spot to get your eats on and drink some solid classic cocktails. Note: They have an extensive section on the menu for martinis lovers- I'm not a martini fan, but I am sure if you like them you will love this. I came during the day and the bartender didn't seem quite experienced so I going to give them a pass on the drinks today. I will need to give it one more go before I make up my mind. read more

I am soooo sick!!! I went here for a quick bite with my friends, and I just got a vegan appetizer. I asked if it had onions on it, I have a dietary restriction and I can't have onions. People put them in everything for no reason. Does this have onions. "It doesn't say it on the menu" Well I ask and I emphasize because the menu isn't an itemized list of ingredients Sweet mother of Buddha, this dish came out with red raw onions. It only took one bite. Now normally I don't get sick off sitting out my food. But it's been 3 hours since I got up and I haven't left the bathroom from the sheer pain my stomach is in. I cold also be a baby and what's a little onion never hurt no one... well, this sucks and it hurts me. Also, this is a place more for drinks then food server lost all interest in our table when we said we don't indulge in the devil water. I hope to feel better soon. PLEASE stop putting onions in people food with out warning them your throwing land mines in there dinner. It's killing my digestive tract!!!! read more

Most of us ordered a glass of the bullet dodger, great vineyard based in Australia! This is considered a tapas bar, so they encourage sharing plates. We tried a bit of everything! My favorites were the pasta, the lamb sirloin (a little pricey), the pork tacos, and the peanut butter ice cream! He was alright the entire meal, not too personable, but he got our orders correct. Then at the end of the night he literally tossed both ticket holders onto our table. So much fun! This is a non-smoking bar (hallelujah). They actually have a good wine menu. I got a Fre ch Grenache-Syrah (Domaine de L'Arnesque from Rhône Valley). Excellent wine imo. It was actually a hard call, because they had several good wines. Note: that is rarely my problem. I ordered the Fritto Misty, which was billed as "market vegetables, turmeric tempura, roasted garlic aioli." Oh my word? Doesn't that sound yummy!? Okay this was amazing. Okay, I'm the first to admit that I huffed and puffed when I saw that the new incarnation of the Red Rooster was fancy. Don't get me wrong, I can be bougie with the rest of them and often prefer a clean, fresh, well-lit restaurant, but that wasn't the Rooster. It was a place to hang out with friends and the occasional random stray dog in booths with ripped seats, succumb to second hand smoke, drink beers bigger than your head, and eat a delicious burger. The darker the better. This is NOT the Rooster or old and let me tell you, I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT. The space is absolutely gorgeous inside with a beautiful, well-equipped bar, plenty of modern tables, and so much light you can see into your dining partner's soul. We happened in on a night when they were doing a wine tasting and were immediately offered a space at the dinner, but I was looking for a night to reconnect with the hubs so we opted for a space at the bar. I was, however, able to order the rosé from the wine dinner and hope it's still there when I return. We ordered the Squash CAPRESE with heirloom tomato, basil, ricotta, parmigiano crisp and a drizzle of peach & honey gastrique. It was the freshest app I've experienced in a long time and screamed summer. It would have made for a perfect light lunch and was a great accompaniment to the rosé I was drinking. We decided to explore other local restaurants in the area but I cannot wait to return to the new and most definitely improved, Red Rooster. Change is hard but when you do it the right way, it's freaking brilliant. read more

From the second we walked in the rooster was amazing. The Decour is super cool and gives a breath of fresh air for the Paseo District. We had a family of 6 so we ordered 7 plates and shared them. Every plate was full of flavor and the presentation was beautiful but not pretentious. All of the dishes had a small touch of flare which showed me the chef is motivated and invested in keeping the dishes interesting but still offering a great taste to any mouth. This place was pretty great! We came here and got some small plates to share. The turmeric tempura veggies, trout dip and the fingerling potatoes. All was fantastic! This used to be a bar back in the day, called...Red Rooster! They kept that theme here and I love it! All the old mirrors and the exposed brick with the old rooster on it is really cool. I loved all the hardware too! I want to try almost every thing on their menu. It all sounds so amazing! The service was good and we got to chat with a few of the waiters and learned some new things. I love the atmosphere here. I also like that it wasn't too quiet or too loud. The bar area is beautiful. The mint julep that I ordered was refreshing and well-made. The food took longer than expected, but after our server brought out the food, I see why it took so long. The dishes that we ordered had presentation and quality written all over it. The masa grit cakes with the black bean purée drizzled with avocado crema sauce was light, flavorful, but very filling. I wouldn't mind a little more crema sauce though. The cakes were crispy on the outside and moist and airy on the inside. The Kielbasa corn dog that I also ordered was delicious as well. The sausage was juicy and very flavorful. I also like that the corn dog had a thin batter and that it wasn't tough. I didn't care for the spicy honey mustard, so I asked for ketchup. My friend couldn't stop talking about her tacos and her French 75. Lastly, the service was so wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu. He's very attentive and friendly. I think he refilled our water four times even after we were done eating. Anyway after coming here, I'm a fan of this place. read more

Let me start by saying I would go back, but there would need to be some improvements. We had brunch. Jabee was hosting a large group brunch. The food was good and full of flavor. But... The food was cold. We went while a large group was having a get together. It took 35 minutes to get sat, which we were fine with. The waitress took our drink order promptly and my cold brew was brought out quickly. It took a while for the waitress to come back over and take our order. The biggest hitch was that it took 30 minutes to get our food once we ordered. Granola and yogurt, crab cakes Benedict, sausage, and avocado toast. The sausage and crab cakes were cold. Not room temperature, but actually cold. The flavor was great though. I wonder what it would actually taste like warm. Our granola and yogurt was good, but at $8, a small amount of yogurt, some granola with pumpkin seeds, and four slices of apple, it was not worth it. We will go back because I'm hoping the mishaps were due to having a large group in front of us. read more

It was weird getting over the Red Rooster being a trendy dining establishment rather than a wonderfully seedy bar, but it is adorable and well designed. Service was excellent. The menu is full of creative menu options wish I really liked, and they're all plated really beautifully and artfully and have wonderful combination concepts. That being said I only gave 3 stars because I felt like the food had didn't quite get there. It's gorgeous and the description is appetizing and they're so willing to substitute meat or adjust a plate for a diet, which I love, but there was nothing I couldn't "not stop eating." I enjoyed the trout dip and the sorbet the most. I got the pasta special which was perfectly cooked and they added gorgeous meaty mushrooms for me instead of meat, but it was a bit salty and bit peppery for me. I'm someone that loves spices of all sort and believe very strongly in spicing and seasoning food but salt and pepper can be the trickiest, each one can kinda overwhelm a plate. Using such fresh ingredients, i would want to enjoy the flavors they can bring to the table. In this case the salt and pepper kinda took over and i didn't get any of the pesto or cheese (can't remember if it was parmesan or grana padana) taste out of my pasta - and that made me sad. The charcuterie board was lovely but favored a salty palate as well...the smoked salmon was very salty for me (yes i know it's supposed to be salty. Felt extra) and it was surrounded by pickled and salty things so the balance was only the cheese (which was generous and beautiful) and crackers. I always feel like anything that salty has to be accompanied by something sweet as well to balance the flavors. Overall though everyone at the table ate and enjoyed their food in a very nice atmosphere. I'd come back for drinks and snacks. read more

We had to ask for ice for the water. If you are OK with those two things, than you'll have a very favorable experience. The falafel appetizer and burger were amazing!!! I'd return for a date night. We don't get a lot of free time because we're caring for an elderly Alzheimer's victim who can't be left alone but we went in at around 1 pm last Sunday. We sat at the bar and ordered cocktails. We were trying to be patient, but there was only one bartender and he was busy with what we assume to be his regulars. He kept coming close to us, but never said another word like sorry for the wait, or I'm working on your drinks. He actually started my drink but left in the middle of preparing it to take care of someone else. After about 15 minutes, we gave up and left. No one else came to talk to us, like a manager or owner as we left. Probably won't be back due to the poor staffing and service. read more
