It's unique in the Paseo District as it is a relatively new purpose built building as opposed to the older buildings that occupy the Paseo scene. I liked the overall layout and the positioning of their oval bar. Although we ate inside due to the heat, the outside dining area is lovely. Looking forward to going back in the fall and enjoying their lovely patio. The menu while interesting, has enough traditional fare to avoid having their menu characterized as eclectic." It's a well rounded menu with southwest influence. We started with drinks. Jan had a G & T, and I had a dirty martini with Gin. We skipped appetizers and ordered our mains. I ordered the shrimp and grits and thought it was excellent. The dish comes with. Cajun garlic marinated shrimp, andoulie sausage, roasted corn saute, cheader chive grits, hot honey butter and charred lemon. It was delectable! It was served with a side of suckatash that was very southwest and very good. It had a a little kick. Jan ordered short ribs served on a bed of chive and cheader whipped potatoes. It came with two sides, chopped and pan seared brussel sprouts, and ancho braised mushrooms. Jan was happy with her selection and gave it two thumbs up. The service was good. The flavors in the food at FRIDA are unbelievable. The spring rolls were light, flakey, and packed with flavor. I could eat the cheese sauce that it came with by the spoonful. The burrito bowl was delicious. The kitchen took the time to elevate my request into a beautiful looking plate. I would have been totally happy if it was just slapped in a bowl. As usual, service is fabulous, the food is exquisitely, divine, and the cocktail and beverage selections are creatively delightful. My only complaint would be the parking situation, which is never good in the Paseo district and the noise level in the restaurant. Tonight we were seated rather in the middle as a party of five, it was not ideal. Any conversation we hoped to have was a moot point because it was so noisy you couldn't hear yourself think. Honestly, so much went wrong with our visit. Waited over an hour for our order, wife's steak was undercooked... but what makes this place top notch is how they handled it. Staff was so friendly, kind, and helpful. The food is impeccable, I was a little put off on the prices before showing up but once I tried it, wow, it's worth trying a bit of everything they offer and the price makes sense with the quality product they deliver. So many unique techniques and ingredients to add contrast to every dish. From a foodie perspective I was thrilled with the evening. Bad parts were the ability to handle two very large parties and manage the kitchen output in a timely manner. Our order went in after a table of 30 or so, so got a little annoyed by the wait time, and then my wife's steak came back medium-rare leaning more towards rare when she asked for medium. But yeah, still an unapologetic and well deserved 5 star rating, the food is that good, management was immediately on top of the issue, server was as genuine and professional as you could hope for. It was a perfect example of how a top notch restaurant could have stumbles and recover in a way that made our evening so enjoyable and memorable in the offerings they have despite a hiccup. The carne asada with chimichuri ,the refried black beans, corn tortillas, breakfast potatoes, and plantains were amazing. I got a taste of huevos rancheros and it was delicious too. The complimentary blueberry muffins were so good. I can't wait to warm one up with some butter. The lattes were disappointing. It took a long time for them to come out and when they arrived they weren't hot, nor did it have any cute barista art. Left much to be desired. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Finally made it here for my birthday after having this spot bookmarked for years, and what an incredible experience it was! I love that they have a seasonal menu, that's what drew me in to begin with. I'm always up for trying new things, so I really appreciate that they switch it up like this. We arrived just as they had launched their Summer 2025 menu, and honestly, everything, from the cocktails to the apps, mains, and desserts, was amazing. Here's what we had: Appetizers: -Seared Ahi: For someone who's usually hesitant about raw fish, I'm so glad I went for it! It wasn't fishy at all; it was super fresh, and I loved pouring the ponzu sauce and pairing it with the avocado and crispy wonton chips. -Queso Fundido: Warm, gooey, with a little hint of spice from the peppers--so delicious, even though I'm usually not the biggest queso fan. -Heart of Palm Ceviche: This one wasn't for us, none of us really liked it, but hey, you win some, you lose some. Tried FRIDA for the first time on my birthday. They had reservations available on a Saturday night at the perfect time. It was cold outside but warm and welcoming inside the restaurant and we were seated in a big comfy booth which I appreciated. We were immediately given water and drink orders taken. I got the juicy couture from the y2k menu which was a delicious sweet gin cocktail. The cornbread sticks and whipped butter they bring to the table is soft and salty and sweet and went great with our queso appetizer and my entree. For apps we chose the queso fundido and the tuna tartare. Both came with fresh chips that were puffy and perfectly crispy. I loved the tuna, it had a little bit of everything. Spice, salt, tang, creaminess! That luscious whipped avocado it sits on top of kept everything stuck together and easy to scoop up. The crispy queso was huge so I took the rest home. The cheese pulls were insane! Our table ordered the short rib, the filet, and the shrimp and grits entrees and everyone was so satisfied! My short rib was rich and tender and the red wine sauce was glossy goodness. Plus the gratin potatoes with the crispy edges and tons of cheese made the dish so comforting. Finally they brought me a chocolate cheesecake with a candle in it that reminded me of my mom's homemade fudge. It was divine and just melted in my mouth. Everything was excellent! Had the most perfect solo girl date at the bar Saturday night! Tasted a few wines and decided to go with a red blend. I was craving soup and the bartenders all sold me on the pozole and a salad. Incredible flavor especially with the little "fingerling" corn breads they brought to enjoy with it. It was such a lovely evening. I took home their Mexican chocolate cheesecake and it was delicious! I would absolutely recommend this restaurant for date night, a special event or grabbing drinks with friends. At the edge of Paseo at a corner of the street, inside is spacious and modern. We sat inside in the main dining but there's option to sit outside on the patio. Reservations are recommended. They were packed. They have a regular menu and a monthly feature at the table that they highly recommended, so we ordered mostly from there. Started out with a mocktail Like a Virgin, which was a cherry limeade with sours. Not impressed. The appetizer Shrimp & Lobster Cocktail (monthly feature) was humongous (more for like 4 ppl, maybe too much just for 2) and fresh, but the lobster was overcooked so a tad chewy. I wouldn't have minded the whole things being all shrimp, didn't feel like the lobster added to it. I ordered the Ora King Salmon (monthly feature), which was amazing. It was a balance of sweet and slightly sour notes. The cucumbers were just the right crunch. That sauce with the rice and salmon was so flavorful. Even the fried broccolini that at first glance didn't seem like much was great. Hubs got the Redfish Etouffee (reg menu), which we were a little less impressed with. The redfish itself and the okra were okay, but the fried crawfish was so battered, and when we removed the batter we could see how tiny the actual crawfish was. The risotto was just okay. Finally, that dessert Pavlova so well described in the monthly feature menu-card was nothing we thought it would be. The freeze-dried strawberries tasted like styrofoam, barely any taste of the strawberries, and the filling inside was just tasteless gooeyness. The pieces of mango and raspberry sauce and the ring of lime tartness sauce were good, but didn't go together with the freeze-dried strawberries. Maybe it's too avant-garde for us lol, but we did not like this dessert at all. It's a little pricey for high-end dining. For 2 people we paid a lil over $200 (including tip). Of course our waitress was more than amazing so we had to over-tip her. We would probably come back for special occasions and order off the monthly feature (except for the dessert). read more

WOW this place really blew me away. Visiting from out of town with a group (plus my local cousin), this place was the standout of our trip for all of us. I was immediately struck by the trendy but classy vibe and pleasantly surprised it wasn't busier given how much I enjoyed the food. To start, I'd also like to mention that the cocktails are exquisite. Some of our group was indecisive and the bar staff really pulled through with providing something enjoyable for them. I loved the old fashioned and when we later visited the adjoining bar before departing, I had a carrot based cocktail that knocked my socks off. Most importantly, however, I cannot overstate how much I enjoyed their Chilean Seabass. I know what you're thinking, "a great fish dish in Oklahoma??" I can assure you YES, it's one of the best I've had anywhere. Two of us ordered it and we were practically licking the plate clean. If you're prepared to spend a bit, I can assure you it's worth it. Wanted to give an updated review on Frida since my last review was written over a year ago. I chalked my last experience up to a misunderstanding with the kitchen. I have been back to Frida a few times since then and I will say that the food, service and atmosphere in the restaurant is always consistent. Today a friend and I walked in without a reservation and luckily that had a table available in the back room "the Daley". I really love this back bar area, it's so nice and cozy, perfect for a date night or party. Our server, Dave was fantastic, attentive and very kind. Always making sure our drinks were filled. I loved my Mexican hot chocolate latte! It definitely had a kick but i will be back for another. Ordered my favorite appetizer which is the southwest spring rolls, still they are cooked to perfect, crispy, cheesy and paired with sauces for extra flavor. Really disappointed with our experience last night, at what's usually one of my most recommended restaurants in Okc. I recognize it was NYE, but it was no different than any other Friday or Saturday night crowd. We chose to sit at the bar. The hostesses were very polite as usual, and we were quickly seated. The bartenders were very pushy to order food- we hadn't even ordered drinks. So we ordered drinks, but my first drink was made wrong. The bar was only about half full. Our app was very good- had the empanadas. For our entree, we ordered the tamale trio ;which we've had before). It came out just warm and lacked any flavor- really a bad dish. We also ordered the lobster corn risotto...only 3 small pieces of lobster. Overall, a very disappointing experience especially on NYE. read more

Service was incredible. The menu here is exactly what I thought being southwest cuisine. I tried the redfish with crawfish etouffee. It looked absolutely amazing when it came to the table but it was a little cold. My husband had the ribeye special and sadly it was a little disappointing. It was a thin piece of steak and for the price we were expecting a big thick juicy ribeye. I love FRIDA southwest so much! My go-to birthday dinner spot every year. Staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful. I love that there is something for everyone on the menu whether it's vegan, gluten free or giant steaks. The vibe feels different from any other OKC restaurant, and it feels like you get transported somewhere else when walking inside. Only gripe (and it's serious): they took away my all time favorite bacon wrapped shrimp. This was a life changing dish for me, and to have it taken away is cruel and unusual punishment!! We called same day for a reservation of 15 (that turned into 22). The host staff did everything and anything to accommodate us! I don't know which was better; the food or the service! Everyone was so kind, genuine and offered suggestions without even being asked. I am from Oregon and I know good fish. The seared ahi tuna was outstanding. Listen I think this place is great. I called the day before for reservations on a Thursday evening and she assured me they were booked solid except for 5:15, or after 8 pm. We went ahead with the 5:15 and wouldn't you know there were plenty of seats still open by 6:15, 6:30... that was a bit of a shock. And a bit irritating. The food was delicious but mine was served room temp and some of it even cold. We ordered and our food came out literally within 3 minutes. I think this must have been an off night. It was a little chilly, but they did have outdoor heaters. Our waitress was amazing, I wish I got her name, but the staffing here is wonderful. If whiskey is your thing, they have a full bar and they make THE BEST whiskey sour I've ever had, and the only way to have them is with whites. We started with the heart of palm "calamari" (vegan), and it was okay, different but not bad! I ordered the sugarcane scallops for my entree and delicious! It was cooked to perfection, great texture and freshness, and I loved that they were bacon wrapped. The sauce paired so nicely with the dish. We were regulars there because we have food allergies...but this time they were not careful. My daughter was voilently ill within the hour. They completely forgot her food and then I think rushed it. She had different fries than they normally serve for Gluten Allergies..I asked about it and was assured. This is were it gets odd. My daughter told me on the way home before she was sick that it was weird the manager came up to her two seperate times and asked if she was ok. They knew they gave her gluten and a lot of it. I do think they care and are usually careful but usually isn't good enough not for a really nice place like that. Amanda is great...anyone should ask for her. We however won't ever be back. I have faith in OKC again for food after two great experiences in Paseo area. We have tried several famous steak places in OKC and we were disappointed. Frida was perfect. It was Father's Day and my birthday and they only had two reservations left. We made one for 6PM and headed there at 3. Yes it was early but we were hungry and thought why not. They were closed till 5 for evening service and the hosts changed our reservation to 5. Got to check out cool art vibe in area. Then it was dinner time. Not disappointed at all. I've been to Frida plenty of times before for brunch & last night was for dinner. I tried one of their special dinner features --Shrimp & lobster Mexican style cocktail. It was very underwhelming. If you're going to charge $32 plus tax, please make sure you're putting more than 4 pieces of small shrimp & two small pieces of lobster. The glass looks deceiving due to the size and how packed it is with tomatoes, onions & jalapeños. I would not recommend anyone ro get this. The service was excellent per usual at the bar top, the bartender stayed on top of us to ensure our drinks were good.
