I guess it is a speakeasy so it shouldn't be easy to find, but had it not been for the door hanging on the door I would've never found this place. He sat at the bar since we were only going to get some appetizers and drinks. I really did love the decor. It was gothy but overwhelming. I did like that they had some non-alcoholic options. However, the most appealing one had strawberries in it, and they were out of them. They were also out of the tacos, which was a little surprising since we got there an hour after they opened. We ended up having the nachos and the oysters. The oysters were good. The nachos were OK. The drinks were also very underwhelming. My son had a Paloma and I have tasted way way better. Service was good. Everyone was friendly and answered all of our questions. This is a really cool place to come and hang out with some friends, but it's more about the atmosphere than it is really the food and drinks. read more

Where do we start? Stop thinking about going and go!! You won't regret it. Note - if you are walking up stairs into the dark, you are almost there. The Devil's Toboggan EXCEEDED our expectations. We found this "randomly" and decided to go because of the prohibition vibes. The second you walk into the Toboggan, you step back in time. We were immediately greeted and sat at the bar. We ordered an old fashion and Huckleberry Lemon Drop (recommend both). Honestly, I don't think it matters what you order...it's going to be good. Let's talk about the customer service. A+ ladies and gents! We ended up having a great conversation with the bar back and other patrons which topped off the experience. P.S. if you like deviled eggs, get them. Very cool hidden lounge in Bozeman. I actually saw a review on Yelp and decided to try it out. The bar is decorated similar to a speakeasy; dark, dreamy, hidden nooks and crannies to sit. It is just gorgeous- the lighting fixtures, tables and chairs, the bar...everything. The drink menu is vast and creative. We were welcomed with a sample of the house punch and it was so good I had to order a single in the rocks. My husband ordered a local bourbon. Both fantastic. Continuing with the gin theme, I next ordered a Monarch that was tasty and beautiful. There is a small sharing menu of food that looked good, but we were only there for drinks. If I'm ever in the Bozeman area again, I'd go again. read more

The atmosphere here is great and the drinks were good, though definitely on the pricey side. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the vibe. When we sat down, we waited quite a while before anyone took our order, even as other guests who arrived after us were served first. Eventually, we got our drinks, but another couple at the bar wasn't so lucky, they waited at least 20 minutes with no service and ended up leaving. The staff gave them dirty looks as they walked out, which was surprising and unprofessional. After reading other reviews, it looks like we aren't the first to experience this. For a Tuesday night with maybe 15-20 customers, the pace and attitude were disappointing. This just doesn't feel like a 4.5 star experience. read more

Parking is good. The ambiance is very nice. Good music and comfortable chairs and music. My girlfriend and I sat at the bar. There were 3 girls working the bar on 6/17. The girl with the bun and the severus snape outfit was unpleasant during our bar experience. In terms of complaining about the workload she had and how she couldn't wait to get off. There was one girl who was actually making drinks while the other 2 were on their phones or going to the back for supplies and she was holding it down and just got it done without complaining. She ended up taking care of us and was very nice and gave us recommendations on what to do in the city. Shout out to her. Thank you. We got no food but the cocktails were superb. They have a wide selection of alcohol and spirits and the girl that took care of us was willing to make anything which was great. The drinks and her were definitely the highlight of the night. Spicy and citrusy w/o being overpowering. What's New Pussycat - another citrusy number w/ a slight black liquorice twist. Unexpected in flavor, not bad. Devils Eggs - here is where the star deduction comes into play: bland. Half were pulled pork, half were guacamole. The only flavor came from the pork. I'd revamp this dish to revive the underwhelming. My niece and I were visiting from out of town, and this is the first place my son brought us! The ambience was amazing, the service was excellent, and the drinks were really great! We each had a special something from the bar menu, and I enjoyed a virgin huckleberry lemon drop. Very good! Our server was excellent, and we ordered the deviled eggs and shrimp cocktail before we went out to dinner. As the afternoon wore on, more and more parties showed up, and the atmosphere was pretty terrific. We happened to arrive just moments before a giant hailstorm, so the entire pub ended up at the big windows watching the weather. For first timers, I highly recommend this spot! I loved the vibe and decor as soon as I walked in. Both bartenders greeted us and welcomed us to a seat wherever we would like. There are lots of funky chairs or group lounge areas, but as I got to talking with the bartenders, I almost wanted to sit at the bar to hang out with them. Drinks were of course delicious and expertly crafted. We were on our way to dinner, so we didn't try any snacks. The only negative was a hostess/server who was nowhere to be seen initially, but then was really pushy about ordering drinks and checking out through her, seemingly for her to get the tips. As I said, it was the bartenders who greeted us, we weren't seated by anyone in particular, and I was going up to the bar to order drinks because the server wasn't really present. Great vibes, good food, and top-of-the-line cocktails make Devil's Toboggan an easy choice for starting your evening, meeting up with friends, or, like us, enjoying a delicious dinner together. The wait staff was engaging and attentive and the ambience was very modern speakeasy with fun details that seem to change with every visit. When we visited on a Friday evening, there was a robust crowd that cycled through fairly quickly and seemed mostly intent on the drinks and company. But I strongly recommend at least an appetizer or two. And I know I won't be departing before I've had a few of their amazing beignets (sort of a cross between classic beignets, sopapillas, and churros with a thick caramel dipping sauce). The punch sample they handed to us upon sitting down at the bar were good and a nice touch! We have shrimp cocktail, artichoke dip and pork tacos. Tacos were dry, shrimp wasn't bad and dip was my favorite of the apps. They do not have a full dinner menu. Lastly, we had the chocolate cake which was cold from being in the fridge and super dense. Flavor of Grenache was good but was hard to eat on the small plate they served it on. Out of all the bars I went to in Bozeman this might be my favorite one. When you walk in you get the speakeasy feel with the dim lights and the cool decor. When I walked in I was given a sample of their "drink of the month" which was a gin, aperol, lemon, and grapefruit juice drink. It was delicious and would be telling of the time I would have here. I came here at 4pm on a Sunday at the beginning of their happy hour (4-6pm daily). Skip the beer and wine though and head straight for the stars of the show: the cocktails. My first drink was a presidential devil ($13) which although was spirit forward was surprisingly sweet given all the spirits in there. It was like a more complex old fashioned. My second drink was the lucky bastard ($15) which was exactly what the description said: spirited, complex, and a little sweet. It's a dangerous drink because it goes down so easily. For my third and final drink I challenged the bartender Abigail to make me anything she wanted. She asked me a couple of follow-up questions and ended up making me what she called the leather, which is similar to an old fashioned but with islay whisky. As you can imagine it was dry, peaty, spirit forward, and another great drink. When I was here for the first hour I was the only patron so bartender Abigail and I had a lot of cool conversations about bartending and different cocktails. I came back again a couple days later when it was busier but it was still an amazing experience and I loved looking around at the decor. I also had one of the funniest interactions I've ever had with a bartender with her (which I will not tell here) which, along with the delicious cocktails, will be a lasting memory for me at this place. read more

What a cool place to unwind. It has the ol speak-easy feel to it with a unique style. The artichoke dip with dried figs was a meal in itself. The goat cheese used in the dip took it to another level. The dried figs still had the perfect moisture content to make this a signature dish, well thought out. Had the Beignets with the carmel maple sauce to finish it off. Well done accross the board.
